Note: If there is ANY kind of anti-air detected, whether a great big S-A-M emplacement or just a couple guys armed with Stingers [or the equivalent to], they won't be coming down. They will flee like a rabbit from a forest fire.

What would really be cool is if because of Empire-of-America's absence, it essentially collapses and then the two rebel groups have a slapping-fight to try and take over the same territory and essentially wipe each other out to the point where someone else comes in [like Great Britain] and starts colonizing the ruined land.

I would think that, because America has such a big part in everything, whatwith it being dangerous for the Ceres Independence to come down and back up again safely, and the fact that there is a rebellion based in America, and that the Antarctic Union wants to take America, then you can't just change it. Whoever takes it would have to continue with the current storyline until either:
A) America was retaken by the rebels/penguins/spacers
B) America remained the same, after fighting off the rebels/penguins [because the spacers would chicken out if they saw ANY anti-air defenses. Even if their energy screens could block a missile or more]

Should the Ceres Independence restabilize in terms of food and water, they would be interested in assisting with the recapture of America. Or the seizing of America. Or whatever. They do still have the New Horizons facility, which does have precious information stowed away underground in secure chambers. They couldn't risk anyone coming out and deciding to try and shoot down the shuttle, so they had to settle with collapsing the building on top of everything.

Man, I would've thought that the Reds or someone would've responded to the Ceres Independence. Do you have any idea how useful a nation with, like, half a dozen atmospheric shuttles could be? You could have an attack on a base, and in an hours' time, you'd have reinforcements and superior weaponry and special items, and they can't really be blocked unless someone decided to make something to counter a Ceres shuttle's stealth systems. Stealth as in: made to not show up on radar, to allow any kind of wave to pass around it, etc. Essentially so that you'd have to see it or use heat-seaking, and the Ceres Independence knows that, with such scary times, people might actually try to shoot it down. Countermeasures are in place, but even they are not invincible.
