Then if I manage to get in range of the Mind, I'll make sure to only use partial kill. That way it functions, it's just in a crapton of pain, presuming they can feel pain.

oh

Don't you people every sleep!?

the moon N-3, which is classified by the planets being organized from A-N, and the moon number afterwards, so the outermost planet (N), on the third moon (3).

That's still in-system. They would know if someone else came in system, and it's just a barran rock used for mining.

No, they refueled at N-3, and then ported to the next system over.

The minds are not a battle field unit, they're not easy to reach. And wouldn't the fact that it is now brain dead mean it isn't transmitting orders or signals? So wouldn't it be considered dead or at least damaged and rebuilt?

The brain isn't dead, it wasn't damaged. It might temporarily go 'off' the hive network when the weapon fires, but afterwards, it's still there. It still has the capacity, it's still the Mind or whatever, the mental part of it is just dead. No activity or signals. More like a man who won't wake up, rather than a man whose heart just stopped.
Steam is cool.

I just wish there were more games like Skyrim out there, though.
And don't say I'm powergaming. I have, more or less, a dozen warships, all with inexperienced crews and with minimal weaponry. Please, tell me how I will single-handedly destroy the universe in the face of a ship the size of a planet filled with beings that were once warriors, another race that is impossible to kill and can only be temporary banished by destroyed a very small core, a hivemind that has the most variety technology to create some of the most advanced ships known, and three or so nations that each have a full compliment of military forces, as well as a force that can be used by the mind to do stuff like make explosions, lasers, and create efficient sources of energy.

Really, I don't think a dozen ships that have more armor and far less weapons are a real threat to everyone else. They don't attack anyone, and they only retaliated to keep their extinction from happening in the future. Then they sat silently in their solar system for a long time before even thinking of sending a scout ship. Please, tell me how I am going to bloody be a superworld dominator once more? It's really very aggravating. It fires in one direction. And there are seven ships. Other people can lose a dozen ships, and still have fleets to back it up. I lose a dozen ships, I lose the entire fleet.

If not regulated. I propose restrictions, maybe it takes down the defenses of the attacker and has a long recharge time?

Extensive energy consumption for any range, and a fast heat buildup due to armor. It's also directional on a big heavily armored ship, so it isn't exactly hard to dodge, provided you know where the ship is and what the weapon actually does. It's not a weapon that does anything physical. If you can send a communications message through the shield, you can send the disruption through. And it isn't instant; at first, more like a piercing headache that takes, say, five to ten minutes to send someone brain-dead. Maybe takes the same amount of time to charge up; if it doesn't charge up long enough, it won't force someone to go completely brain-dead, and would leave survivors that would eventually recover, though their memory may be a bit sketchy of the time around that area. So if a ship is caught unawares, it can't just fire; it has to charge up for the same time it would have to fire.

The Valks aren't cruel; if they're going to destroy someone's mind, they'd want to do it as quickly as possible. Forcing someone through a horribly painful destruction of their brain for an extended period of time would horrify all but the veteran Hunters... which are nonexistent, due to a lack of war or any real conflict.

can someone find the unusually heavily armored ship with a weird-as-poop 3-foot spotlight on the front that's in an uncolonized system?

Why can't there be some kind of Incident

A short war erupting due to the fact that royalty was shot several times, a diplomacy ship attacked and damaged, and fighters shot down and lost, with a number of casualties. I mean, if I had a nation and the people I just said hello to shot me in the face, punched the Queen's daughter and killed some loyal citizens, I'd be pissed as hell, and wouldn't just let it go.

Its going to be really good to get my hands on your tech... Brain dead food, no that doesn't sound like it can run away... Hehe. I can force real peace...

If you find them, and if you do find them, they will fight back. If you're set on isolating me and attacking just me with a giant amount of hivemind minions, then I'd be okay, if I can at least get the chance for aid from other people, such as the friendly robots that are the opposite of your hostile organics. The exact opposite, actually. I'll even support it if I've got the Hivemind on one side, and the... Auxillium Collective, I think, on the other side, with the Valks as a sort of strategic point. After all, with the disrupter weapon, one could effectively stun the hivemind, disrupting the whole linked-y-ness, and by using it on the Mind itself, it would stop it. It wouldn't be dead, so there wouldn't be the need of making a new one, so really, the Hivemind would effectively come to a complete standstill in terms of organization, and the make-new-Mind instinct wouldn't kick in cause it's still there, just not giving any orders.
