We really need some FTL rules. otherwise people are going to jump out of battles whenever they are about to lose. Like, require a charging time.

I tried that, suggesting anywhere from just having it produce too much heat to keep it too far from the hull, to making it so that people can only warp in and out from the edge of a system to the edge of a system. Naturally, everyone decided that I was just demanding that we change FTL from system-edges only, and beat it down.

It takes training to be able to turn into a bat, but nothing too extensive, and it is an instant shift. Of course Vampire Bats! What kind of person do you take me for? :P

My next post has my character slowing down and being very thorough about vampires, which means he'll think about being a bat. Would that make a completely unsuspecting vampire turn into a bat?
Ok
So
With bats, is it just an unconscious command to turn into a bat?
And is it just an instant shift, where one moment you're human, the next you're a bat at your center of mass?
And what kind of bat? Any kind of bat? Stupid question, of course Vampire Bats.

@WilsonI hope it's not an issue, but I wrote that your Varren and Explorer ships arrived in an uncharted system, where two Temple class Cruisers were mining for minerals. I can change it, if need be ^^'

They only have two charted systems: System 1, their home System, and System 2, the neighboring system home to the Nouvellians.

In response to Duck, I say that I am directly next to the Nouvellians, and the next closest 'group' is Earth/Terra/Sol System. That's what I'd prefer. Maybe with the Nouvellians between?
William, whose attention hadn't ever yet been on his other two circumstance-companions and is now primarily on Evelyn, followed rather miserably with everyone else. Someone missed him, he hoped, and he knew he came from an important family- he felt small and inferior, and he knew, just knew, that he was used to feeling taller and superior to everyone else. These two, well, vampires were easily powerful enough to tear him apart, he was really quite sure. Most stories revolving around vampires usually had them with greater strength, speed and senses.

As he sat down at Vanity's table, silently taking in the scenery, the senses did suddenly hit him. His vision suddenly sharpened, where before they were starting to get to the point of needing glasses. He could smell... everything, and he couldn't block it out. He could hear items dropping, dresses swishing, everyone's breathing, and it hit him like a cannonball. He sat there for many a moment, reeling at the overload, before his brain started to catch up, and his chest started moving again, breathing where the shock had taken it away.

As his breathing returned, his head quickly developed an ache from the sudden sensory input, unused to processing so much at one time. As he did so, he heard one of the girls collapse to the ground, apparently clutching something, and someone else approaching. Dazed, William turned to take in a new man entering the room, probably another bloody vampire, and one of the girls clutching her stomach. He himself had some serious stomach ailments at the moment, but he, with effort, pushed it out of mind and repeated over and over to himself, your belly doesn't ache, your belly doesn't ache, your belly doesn't ache, oooohhhh christ it hurts! No! T-Rex making beds! T-Rex making beds! My belly has not thou pain!, which can go on in varying ways for quite some time.

After some time, he wrestled his pains under control, and met Evelyn's eyes.

In a voice that was pained and demanding at the same time, gritted teeth giving away his discomfort, William asked in a somewhat forceful way, "What's going on here, de Winters? Who are all of you really, and why does it feel as if we have our insides being put into a blender?"
Hunter Smith & his Vulture were, as I was planning, supposed to be when Aegis attacks a much larger enemy force, which will undoubtedly happen. While Aegis on its own atm will surely do a good job, air strikes of both the tank buster and of the air-to-air sort would be needed. If there is a heavy walker, heavy as in big, powerful, bigger than anything Aegis has, then while Aegis could do damage to it, it WOULD be safer to have the Vulture to come in and soften it up. This also is supposed to be for against enemy fighters or tank busters that are moving against Aegis mechs- few of these mechs, I think, have surface-to-air missiles specifically designed to chase down and destroy advanced fighters. And, of course, to clear the air of enemy gunships or dropships. The gunship I have I was planning to be using more for anti-mech, not anti-air.

I can change the background, but the air support would just be needed in this situation, when drop-troopers are attacking larger or heavily armored forces, or with better air support.

That's a good chance to cause some delicious hell. Maybe, LiverisGood, Amy could apprehend (or try to) Roan at the festive that night? Mainly as a conflict, including Roan shifting right in front of a crowd then creating a stir, would likely catch anyone's (with a Relic) attention really quick. Something which might end up bringing a large number together at once like a cause and effect type thing.

Myth would jump at the chance to distinguish himself. Dual wielding swordsman, coming right up.
I'm going to wait for confirmation that my three characters are good to go.

Anywho, goodnight all.

So, next post, anyone up for a quick skirmish somewhere?Preferably with a race I haven't made contact with yet...

There were 6 ships in orbit around Planet N-1. One pair of ships went to Nouvelle; another pair went off in another direction. Shall you attack the Explorer and the Varren, a Dreadnaught and a Battleship, as they move to a new, unexplored system?

The recon will need close air, because reconnaissance has cleared the village, and following that, the flare that went up will basically bring local forces to them like flies on shit. So basically, since orbital strikes may soon become available, as well as that fire support, Jan will be lasing and calling it through, for guns, rockets and bombs to stop the flood that will come to them within the hour,

So just basic Call of Duty 2 stuff? Hold out till' the support arrives?
