Everyone is making the Valkians nervous, whatwith a fleet, close to half a dozen different species arrayed above the planet, etc.

Really, keeping the planet safe with several factions in orbit with varying relations between each other, ranging from allied to each other to at war, it'll be hard. But the Valkians have dreadnoughts, and very thick armor ^.^

Oh lord lol. I forgot about that. I'm sorry I just love playing characters who are in touch with nature and animals and such. If it helps, he really doesn't have too strong of an influence over animals unless he wants to strangle himself to death. Also is the counting then saying "Mississippi" a countrywide thing or just a Minnesotan thing?

You callin' me a redneck, ain'tcha?

Anyone still around?
Not really up to humans to define the languages of different races, me thinks. What may mean cake in our languages may mean f*** you in another race's. But it means cake, we would say!

They'd say, stop it!

We'd say nothing, because we started a war and got shot in the face for insulting their pride. *le shrug*

Honestly, I can make a really messed up nation that's all messed up in the language department if you want me to, seriously.
Willy watched the proceedings with a kind of wide-eyed curiousity, his head tilted up and to the side, so he was watching everything somewhat out of the corner of his eyes. He figured that Viorcia was a very important figure in the castle- was something mentioned that it was hers? He wasn't sure, but she definitely liked using it to be extravagant. Either way, he figured that there would be quite a bit of change.

He rocked back on his heels, his blood daze wearing off. He looked about, watching the proceedings, and taking careful note of Evelyn's vulnerability, comparing it to the smooth neutrality and formality from before. He watched all the ancients' reactions, and after careful consideration, he took a deep breath, and just said, "I'ma be in the library."

He snatched his book from the table and very nearly ran out of the room, in very much need of somewhere at least slightly familiar. He didn't stop for anything- just rushed through the corridors, automatically turning, the route memorized within not by effort, but by simple memory.

When he finally reached the library, the short route feeling seemingly endless, he kept going, moving through the shelves for the ideal spot. Some minutes later, he found it against one of the farther walls, where a small table, lamp, and chair sat. He wasn't in the middle for sitting, and instead ending up laying down, book above him as he opened it, and his bookmark fell onto his face.

He slowly, carefully, set his book down, holding the bookmark with his other hand now. He held it up, feeling a burst of hope. Several names, weird names that all had similarity, with PASS:, and then a different word or phrase for each that had a mix of numbers, capital letters, or lower case letters. Usernames and passwords- half of them were labelled for various games, while the very topmost one was labelled "GMAIL."

The only problem was that, while remembering what email was, and figuring that gmail was some company's email type, he had neither any kind of laptop or computer, nor internet, nor any idea what website it was. He thought about it for a moment, and eventually decided that he couldn't do much of anything about it now. He was dead, by their standards, whoever they were, family or friends, and it'd be best to leave it that way.

It took some time for him to reach this conclusion, and slowly tore off the top of the paper bookmark, and shredded it. He stuffed the remains in his pocket, he opened his book to the beginning, and he began reading about Arthur Dent, the impending demise of his own, and then the demise of the planet Earth, and his stint of hitchhiking across the galaxy with his friend, Ford Prefect.
Oh well. When Valkian language gets translated to human languages, it gets all mixed up and turns into solar system.

Stars are suns. Suns give off solar energy. Valkians call them solar systems, without the capital s, because the entire system is bathed in solar energy from the star in the middle. =ValkLogic

If you have a problem with it, then don't read it as solar system, read it as planetary system. #ProblemSolved

Wilson, why does your faction refer to each star system that they come across as a 'solar system'? That implies that Sol has untold billions of clones scattered about the universe.

?

The solar system that Nouvelle is in is what they are calling solar system- and the closest solar system to them is the Valkian solar system. They aren't talking about star systems, they are talking about solar systems- a single sun with planets in orbit around it. Unless Earth and the system that it's in is the ONLY solar system in the galaxy, then you could hardly be confused when I refer to the area around a star as a solar system, as long as it has several satellite bodies, namely planets.

I have already said that the Valkians are practically neighbors to the Nouvellians- by solar system. They just jumped from the edge of one solar system, one area around a single star, to the edge of the Nouvellian star's area, and began exploring around there.

Solar = sun
Sun = star

Sun system = solar system = star system
Unless by star system, you mean a grouping of solar systems or something. Sol System is Earth, in my mind, and a solar system is just the area around a star. In my mind, of course.
Nouvelle
The Tinkerer leaned back slightly, taken aback by what the Queen had just said. He took several minutes to process this- his people could hardly refuse without hindering negotiations, and it'd certainly look good to others if they took a primitive under their wing, and protected them from outside elements. He waited long past everyone else, thinking of hundreds of benefits and disadvantages of having a foreign, primitve race under their protection. They were close, practically neighbors, which was good. Research would have to be done to create a warpgate of some kind, so that instant transportation between the two sectors could be possible. It would be needed if they needed to protect them as much as he hoped.

He took a deep breath, and stood up.

"Queen Sabine, I do not think you would mind if one of my companions sent this new data to our brothers and sisters in our shuttle, and if they alerted our ship in orbit as to our new status regarding our relation to this planet and its people. I suspect that you'll probably have a small fleet in orbit at all times- at some point in the future, I think after we've adapted one of our ships more to the needs of your people, you will have the ability to look down on your moon from hundreds of miles in the sky. We'll also have to set up groundside defenses- our people keep defenses all around our cities, and if you would permit, we would protect your cities as we would ours. Discreet, small defenses- we do not want to give your people the effect of being kept in, not being protected. If you would like to speed up the technological development as fast as possible, then I suggest that you come up with the plans to that. We are unsure as to how to proceed with such a thing- our people can help you with what will bring you up to speed. In your people's name, as well, we will patrol the solar system. Anything in this solar system is yours, and will be ready for you to expand to and collect in the future. The only thing we will take will be for repairs after any kind of conflict, or for emergency refueling. We can set up bases elsewhere in the system for mining and production for you to use when you reach the proper technological level. My race's homeworld has over a dozen asteroids in orbit acting as defense bases."

He very deliberately turned to the Eternal Union members, continuing. "Terran Diplomats. Later, perhaps, may we meet and discuss your peoples and recent events? You two obviously have made contact and negotiations with each other, and we feel more comfortable talking with you." Again, he turned away, back to staring straight forward, towards Queen Sabine. "My apologies for my thoughts by voice, I often liked to voice my thoughts for better understanding and more innovation. And my apologies again if I made the mistake of misinterpreting your offer- we have not let any planet we set foot on have few defenses. Each of our planets that have a sizable population will be heavily protected. We do not want to put our own people on foreign soil that might not offer complete defenses. If it puts your people at ease, we can train some of them to work with our technology. It may be difficult, and require tinkering-" At this, the Valkian gave the first sign of positive emotion, a very light lift of the lips into a very small smile," ... to make it manageable for both Valkian and Nouvellian use. We do not know how your economy or politics work, so we will have to leave up the actual integration of new technology to you. I can act as a mediator in future endeavors so that you may learn about what we will offer your people. I see this not as a burden among my own, but as a long-term investment. Someday, you will colonize your entire solar system, and have power in your own respect. You would make a good ally, if you are an example of your people."

He paused then, and his mind switched gears, going down a new track of thought. The smile of sorts had already disappeared; in its place, his head was tilted slightly, thinking at a much faster pace than before. Half a minute passed before he spoke again. "My people are, I am quite sure, the only ones here that has committed mass genocide of another race, that may or may not have been peaceful. It was a terrible thing for us to do, and they had ceased fighting for years before we were able to summon the resources and people to attack them. Had our ancestors not committed said crime, though, it would be a much different race here instead of I."

Then he sat down and quickly whispered to his two companions, the Engineer flipping open a small device on his forearm, and typing something in. It wouldn't be legible to any of those present- it was on a black screen, with no color of any kind, just little tiered/raised portions that the mass sense could detect much better than eyesight could.

In Orbit around Nouvelle
The Explorer and Varren pair drifted aimlessly above, restless for something to happen, or to be known. They kept as close tabs on the other ships in orbit as possible, going so far as to slightly approach what appeared to be a battle fleet, but did not come close to extreme weapons range. Instead, they just cruised about, mapping out the surface and waiting for a ping.

When it came, the entire bridge crew of the ship paused, reading the message, and then growing very confused. They were becoming... protectors? They were sure why, or how, but they figured that it was a gift from the All Mother to redeem themselves for their genocide... or something.

So they moved closer to the surface, after firing a pod to return home to deliver the new news, and then panicked when they realized that if all the ships in orbit had technology similar to their own, they'd know where to go to get to their home system. Shortly after the first one fired, another fired after the first, to warn the system of possible foreign entities knowing the location of the system.

If the unknown ships didn't find out the home system location from the first one, the second one would most definitely be easy to trace. The bridge commander would've facepalmed if such a thing existed in his culture.
