Bio

Hey there, I'm Wolvena!
So, after being away from the roleplay world for a while, I'm ready to jump back in. I don't do many 1 on 1's because I tend to struggle to keep it going after a little bit. I normally go with group rps on the smaller side, just because I tend to get a bit lost in larger ones. My go-to genres are animal(mostly wolves), anime, sci-fi, and fantasy, though I'm always up to give something new a try.

Esme continued to sleep soundly until Dean slapped the side of the truck, causing her to jump slightly as Duke rolled over to look at Dean. She half opened her eyes to see Dean looking down at Duke as the two of them bickered. It was all she could do to hold her grin and laugh at bay as it brought back similar memories of when it was just the three of them traveling and hunting. But instead of her wrapped up in Duke’s arms, she was in Dean’s arms, sometimes in the same attire she was in now. She was also pretty sure that Dean would have killed Duke if he ever found them like this when they were a team, but she would have never done that then to keep from hurting Dean and causing tension between them. Esme loved them both back then, and she was sure both of them knew that, but her heart had fully belonged to Dean, there wasn’t any questioning it. If she was being honest with herself, she missed those days, and still mentally kicked herself for leaving the way she did. She knew there was a better way of going about it, but the next step Dean wanted and was willing to take in their relationship scared the hell out of her at the time. There had been so much she still wanted and needed to take care of, she had feared it wouldn’t get done or even get Dean killed.

Duke rolling back over and curling back up to her pulled her from her thoughts of the past. She was about to snuggle back into him when she heard Dean tell him to get up and he was going for food. Duke’s next words caused her to laugh softly, breaking the illusion she had been asleep the whole time. As Dean walked away, Esme rose up and propped herself up on her arm, being careful to not let the blanket fall from her shoulder and chest. “Hey, Dean?....... Do you think you could pick me up some clothes while you’re out? Please?” she asked him. Before waiting for an answer from him, she settled back down next to Duke, snuggled up to him once more, and adjusted her head to where her nose was just inches from his. “So, how did you sleep?” she asked Duke as she softly nuzzled his nose with hers. She barely heard Dean walk past the truck to go talk to Sam. In the back of her mind, she thought it was someone else even if she hadn’t heard the Impala’s engine roar to life. As she waited for Duke’s answer, she got lost in his baby blue eyes.

She was pulled back by a gentle nudge to the shoulder by Sarah. Adjusting herself so she could see her, Sarah turned her head to look over the side of the truck bed. Raising up and holding the blanket in place, Esme looked over the side of the truck to see Dean, Mika, and Sam talking just outside his and Anna’s room. Sam had a look of extreme worry plastered on his face. The peaceful look that was on her face was now gone and replaced with concern for Sam. Esme sighed heavily as she turned back to look at Duke. “It looks like we may have a situation this morning.” she told him sadly. “I think we should go over and see what’s going on.” With that said, she reluctantly slid from Duke’s arms and scooted to the tailgate, and off. All the while being careful not to pop one of her stitches or lose the blanket. Once her bare feet were on the cold cement, she held the blanket tighter around herself and waited for Duke before making her way over to the group. She was aware of the growing emotions as she closed the gap between herself and them, she took a deep breath to help herself keep herself from getting overwhelmed this early in the morning.

“What’s going on? Is everyone alright?” she questioned in concern when she had closed the gap. It was on seconds after she asked the questions, she felt the emotions from the others fade and a slight pressure against her side. Sarah had gotten out of the truck and followed her over, then sat down by her side as an emotion shield and in a protective manner.
Esme

Esme’s memory dream continued to play out with the two of them sitting and talking while waiting for Dean to return with food. Time had seemed to pass by slowly that night, giving them what felt like a rare opportunity to just sit and talk without worrying about injuries or concussions. If one had a concussion, the talks were random just to make sure they didn’t fall asleep. But this night, they had a true conversation that led to them learning even more about one another. Some of what they talked about surprised them, since they swore to themselves they would never tell another soul about it. Of course, teasing followed after secrets were revealed, which only strengthened the bond they had already started to form. They had both admitted that the secrets they shared were ones that couldn’t be pulled from them unless they were drunk, which sent them both into another fit of laughter and wincing from their bruised stomachs. After calming down and collecting themselves, Duke had set down the makeshift ice pack, then grabbed his Stetson as he got out of the truck bed, and walked around to the driver’s door as he placed it on his head. Esme watched him open the door, turn the key to where the battery kicked on, then turn up the radio.

A single eyebrow rose as she watched his movements. He rolled down the truck windows before closing the driver’s door and walking back to the tailgate. His signature charming smile rested on his lips as he held out a hand to her and asked her if she’d care for a dance as he bowed slightly. If it had been anyone other than him or Dean, she would have called them crazy and would have turned them down in a heartbeat. With a warm, soft laugh in her throat, she scooted herself to the tailgate and took his hand, accepting his offer. How could she refuse an offer like that? Plus, a good song was playing on the radio. After Duke helped her out of the truck, he took her into his arms and led her around the field. What made the moment even more memorable was they both started to sing along with the song as they danced in the field. The two of them danced to a few songs before they could hear the Impala in the distance signaling Dean was back with the food, but that didn’t stop them from continuing to dance and sing along with what was playing on the radio. The memory dream faded as Dean pulled up in the Impala, parked it next to Duke’s truck, and then got out.

In the middle of the night, Esme woke to find herself wrapped up in Duke's arms and held close to his chest, and still in the truck bed with Sarah. A tired smile graced her lips as she realized he must have tried to wake her without success. So instead of risking waking her or losing his towel, he climbed in with her. She could only imagine what played out between him and Sarah at that moment. Carefully lifting her head so she didn’t wake him, she looked at Duke and noticed his head rested on Sarah’s hip, which was a good sign to her. She then noticed he didn’t take any of the blanket for himself, causing her tired smile to grow a little. He was obviously worried she’d get cold if he did. He was just so caring, and that was one thing she loved about him. Being careful once again to not wake him, she worked some of the blanket free and draped it over his body. “There you go, Bright Eyes.” she softly whispered. Esme then planted a soft kiss on his cheek before settling back down and snuggling up as close as she could to him. She fell asleep in no time with a sigh and nuzzle, as she always did, listening to his heartbeat, his breathing, and his slight snoring with a smile on her lips.

Esme slept soundly and deeply wrapped in Duke’s arms the rest of the night and through the morning. Being outside, you would think every loud noise would have woken her, but being exhausted and sleep deprived, she was, for a lack of better words, dead to the world. She had gone into such a deep restful sleep; she didn’t hear Anna when she left. She didn’t even hear Sam that morning when he came out of his room and started pacing in front of his door.
Esme

Esme continued to lie in Duke’s truck bed with Sarah, staring up at the stars and making out the constellations. At one point, she lifted herself up off Sarah to look over the sides of the truck bed to check on the others. They looked to still be in deep conversation. Whatever it was about seemed to have them all on edge, but that was only a guess, since she couldn’t feel any emotions from anyone being close to Sarah. She then settled herself back down against Sarah, making herself comfortable by snuggling into the Hellhound. Which made Sarah curl around her more and rest her chin on Esme’s arm. Esme tilted her head to look at Sarah, giving her a tired smile. Pulling her free hand from under the blanket, she shifted so she was laying more on her side, then placed her hand on Sarah’s head. She lay there in silence for a bit, just looking at Sarah as her mind and body relaxed from the silence that surrounded her from the Hellhound. She noticed Sarah was watching her as she looked at her as if she were making sure she was really doing okay. Esme gave her a reassuring smile and a scratch on the head to let her know her presence was helping her out.

After a moment of silence and staring at each other, Esme sighed softly before speaking to Sarah in a soft whisper. “I know you’re still unsure about Duke since he seemed to have shown up out of nowhere and joined up with us.” she started, then paused for a moment. “But he’s a good guy and I trust him with my life. Years may have passed since we’ve seen each other, but nothing has changed between us. He’s still the same man I knew back then.” she smiled as she scratched Sarah’s head. “Give him a chance and please don’t do anything to him.” Esme watched Sarah take in her words and then sigh heavily. She then nuzzled her as if saying okay. “Thank you.” Esme smiled. She continued to scratch Sarah’s head as she tilted her head to look back to the sky, a tired smile still resting upon her lips. She knew Duke was wary of Sarah, but she hoped he could get used to her being around and get the opportunity to prove themselves to one another. She didn’t like the tension Sarah caused between everyone, but she also found herself not wanting to be without her. Esme sighed and let the thought slip out of her mind and made herself relax again.

As she lay there, fully relaxed now, her mind drifted off to another time she was in this truck bed. It had been a long day of working a case involving a couple of elusive Wendigos. Just when Esme, Dean, and Duke thought they were on top of them, they vanished without a trace and they would have to start over again. After finally finding their lair and torching their bodies after a good fight, the three found themselves in a field, taking a breather. She and Dean used the stream nearby to clean up a bit before they both hopped into the truck bed of Duke’s truck. Then they laid back staring up at the darkening sky wrapped up in each other's arms. His cheek rested against her head and her head on his shoulder while Duke cleaned himself up. As the memory played out, her eyelids grew heavy. She tried to fight against the sleepiness to wait for Duke to get back, but she lost the fight, and the memory played on. After some snuggling, making sure each other was good, and a couple of kisses on top of her head, Duke showed up and sat on the tailgate. “Alright, lovebirds. Break it up.” Duke teased them. Both Esme and Dean laughed as they sat up, an arm still wrapped around one another. “What? Too much affection for you to handle?” Esme teased back before Dean could say anything. Both men laughed and Duke shook his head. “No, I’m starvin’ and it’s Dean’s turn to make a food run.” he stated flatly with his signature smile.

“Oh, that so? I’m almost sure I made the last run.” Dean told him, eyebrows raised. “In fact, I know I made the last food run. What are you planning?” “Nothing.” Duke replied quickly. “Fine….. I just can’t see well enough to drive after taking a blow to the head.” he admitted. Dean released a heavy sigh through his nose and agreed he’d make the food run. Before Dean pulled himself away from Esme, he gave her a one-armed squeeze and a kiss on the head, then told her he wouldn't be gone long. She nodded and watched him leave before making her way out of the truck bed and walking around to the passenger side of Duke’s truck. Opening the door, she reached under the seat and pulled out the first aid kit he kept there. Esme could feel Duke’s eyes on her the whole time. Closing the door, she made her way back and sat next to him on the tailgate, placing the kit next to her. “Alright, let me have a look.” she told him after looking at his eyes for any sign of a possible concussion. When he turned, removed his Stetson, and showed her the spot, she got up on her knees to have a better look. She carefully moved his hair away from the spot and examined his head. There was a clear lump on his head, but no broken skin. She gave a sigh of relief that she didn’t have to stitch him up for once after a case.

“I think you’re going to live.” she teased him as she put his hair back in place. Taking to her feet, she walked to the front of the truck bed and to the cooler he kept there. She opened it and pulled out a bandana from her pocket, knelt down, and laid it out over her leg. Grabbing a couple of handfuls of ice, she wrapped the bandana around it, then grabbed some water before closing the cooler and made her way back over to Duke. Esme placed the makeshift ice back on his head and waited for him to take it before sitting back down next to him. She then pulled some painkillers from the first aid kit, opened them, and handed them to him, then the water after opening it for him. “What a day this has been.” she sighed heavily. Some time went by and they talked about the Wendigos and if she was alright after being knocked around some, at one point they moved so they were resting against the side of the truck bed with their legs stretched out to the other side.
Esme

Esme opened her eyes when she felt Duke approach her. She was so lost within everything going on in the moment, she really hadn’t realized that he had followed her outside after her invitation. She still couldn’t believe that she had broken down this much in front of Duke. It was the one side of herself she never wanted him to see, because she knew how much it would hurt him, and she didn’t want to come off as vulnerable and weak. No one in her family, including Dean, had ever seen her state of mind. She was still mentally kicking herself for letting herself fall into such a state, but then again, it had been some time since she had been hit with so much raw emotion in such a short period of time. Plus, becoming a demon nuke didn’t help either. She felt drained and sleep deprived from it all. All she wanted at that moment was a decent night's sleep so she could recharge and get a handle on her empathy once again. Being an Empath with sleep deprivation wasn’t a good mix, there was no telling what could happen if they came across someone in a state of pure rage.

A tired smile came to her lips when Duke spoke. She couldn’t help but smile from the way he called her darlin’. Esme turned slightly as she brought her gaze down from the sky to meet his gaze, as he brought his hand up and brushed his thumb across her cheek, then gently kissed the tip of her nose. This time she didn’t flinch at his touch, both actions caused her to smile a little more as did his words. “Don’t worry, I don’t plan on going anywhere. Plus, I’d have to steal a car if I did.” she replied with a small laugh. She watched him as he backed away and then jogged away. It was then she noticed the others. She wondered what could be going on to have them all outside talking, and assumed Duke was thinking the same. She didn’t feel the need to follow him over, because she knew Duke would relay any important news to her when he got back. She also didn’t want to go over in nothing but a blanket and have to explain to everyone why she was in a blanket and Duke was in a towel. She wasn’t feeling up to being put in an awkward situation, but knew it would more than likely be brought up later.

Turning her gaze back to the parking lot, she breathed in more of the cool night air, before she felt a gentle nudge against her leg followed by a whine. “I’m alright, Sarah.” she said as she worked a hand out from under the blanket and placed it on the Hellhounds head. “It seems that this is a trying night for not just me but everyone.” She looked down at Sarah as she scratched her head and ears. After a little scratching, Esme retracted her hand and held the blanket tight around her frame. Looking up, she saw Duke’s truck was a lot closer than she had realized. Picking up the blanket from around her feet, she walked over to his truck and to the back. Being careful not to drop the blanket, she worked her hands free and put down the tailgate of his truck. Then carefully, and with some help from Sarah, Esme climbed up into the truck bed. Once she was seated, she patted the spot next to her, inviting Sarah up. Without hesitation, Sarah hopped up in the truck bed and laid down behind Esme, curling up around her slightly in a protective manner. Esme then leaned back against the Hellhound, feeling everything around her being drowned out.

Once comfortable, Esme adjusted the blanket and curled her legs up close to her body to make sure her feet were under the blanket. Leaning her head back, she looked up at the sky and what stars could be seen. Slowly her body relaxed against Sarah’s, now that she could feel her mind and emotions relaxing from everything that had gone on the past several days. Sitting under the stars and having a shield from all the emotions he felt on a daily basis was something she had desperately been needing since meeting up with all the Winchesters. She never could have imagined that her empathic ability would get such a workout being around them. Yes, she went through some emotional rollercoasters with Dean and also Duke in the past, but nothing like she experienced being around all of them. She sighed heavily as she stargazed. Even though her emotional state had settled, the dreams of her past were still fresh in her mind and she wished she could forget the worst ones so she could have some peace of mind for the night.
After shooting the elderly ghost with a salt round, she pushed the stuff that had fallen on her off and to the side. Then looked up at the voice of another, a slight smirk forming on her lips at the woman’s question and comment about kids. “Peachy.” she replied flatly as she pushed herself to her feet with a slight groan. It was easy to see that the woman was a hunter like herself based on her attire and the way she carried herself. As well as how she handled the child ghost. She was both agitated and pleased to see the other woman, she was supposed to have the case all to herself, but she was glad for the help of another woman with how these ghosts were turning out to be. It wasn’t every day that she ran into another female hunter on the cases she took. Sighing softly, she knelt down and moved some things around, uncovering her gun, and picking it up. Once her gun was back in her hand, she stood upright once more, scanning the room before her eyes fell on the woman next to her briefly. She didn’t want to be caught off guard by the ghosts.

At the question, she inwardly sighed, knowing this had to be some sort of test to prove herself and to show she had done her homework before showing up. “From what I gathered, we have little Kenny Fleet, who slipped into a pond and drowned during an egg hunt. I’ve seen him hiding in a corner this whole time. We have Catherine Coker who died in a tragic accident. Then there is Raden Barlow who was mugged and beaten to death.” she told the woman next to her. “I’ve heard and caught glimpses of another I wasn’t expecting. I’m not sure who they are.” Adjusting her jacket, she stepped out of everything she had been thrown into and sighed heavily. “And before you say anything, I know everything that these ghosts should be attached to is upstairs in display cases. I just wanted to make sure nothing was overlooked and stuck down here in one of these boxes. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard the item was in a display case just to find out it wasn’t the right item, and then had to go searching through boxes or piles of junk while fighting off a ghost or two.”

Before she could say much else, the dark blonde huntress she was talking to was attacked by the female ghost, Catherine, from before. The sudden action caused her to gasp slightly as she saw the huntress thrown into the wooden stairs of the basement, as Catherine yelled at the dark blonde huntress. She held up her gun, trying to find the invisible Catherine. “Catherine, we’re only trying to help you and the others. We aren’t here to hurt you.” she called out to the female ghost. Her words were answered by the elderly ghost, Raden, appearing before her and slamming her into a wall. “Liar!” he yelled. She grunted as her back and head were slammed hard into the wall, her gun falling from her grip. “No, it’s not a lie.” she managed to get out before she felt pressure on her throat. The honey blonde huntress struggled under Rayden’s ghostly grip. “Please, let us help you.” she choked out. “Never!” he yelled as he tightened his grip around her neck. "Who would have thought I would be taken out by a ghost? I thought it would have at least been a Vamp, Werewolf, or Hellhound." she thought to herself.

"No, I can’t think like that!" she yelled at herself. She continued to fight under Rayden and look around for anything that would be useful. Her gaze landed on the child ghost, Kenny, still hiding in the corner. It was clear to see that he was too afraid to even try to help if she spoke to him, but she decided to try anyway. “Kenny?” she choked out. “Please…. Help us…. So we can…. Help you…… Don’t you want…. To see…. Your parents again?......” she said to him. “I…” she squeaked out as Rayden’s grip tightened once again around her throat. She was finding it hard to get any air now. She was growing dizzy and she could see darkness creeping into the corners of her vision. “I… Know you miss…. Them…… They have…….. To miss you…….. Too.” As she struggled to speak to Kenny, she also struggled to get into one of her jacket pockets for an item. “Give it up hunter! He’s far too scared to help you!” Raden yelled into her face. “Besides, I’ll have choked the life out of you before he can even decide if he wants to help!” The honey blonde huntress gasped for breath, a small smirk came to her lips when her hand finally made it into her jacket pocket and her fingers wrapped around the item she needed.

Pulling her hand from her pocket, she flicked her wrist while pressing a button, an intricately designed staff made of iron and black steel appeared in her hand. She swung it right through Rayden, causing him to become a wispy mass before disappearing. She collapsed to her hands and knees, drawing in a breath and coughing heavily. Rocking back on her knees while still coughing, she was going to throw the staff to the other huntress, but the unidentified ghost came out of nowhere and attacked the ghost Catherine. The distorted ghost stood before the dark blonde huntress and spoke in a distorted voice. “If you really plan to help us move on, do it now.” Turning, they held off another attack by Catherine to give her the chance to get to her feet and up the stairs. “Why are you helping them?! They don’t really want to help us!” wailed Rayden and Catherine in unison that echoed throughout the basement.
Wood River, Illinois

It was early the evening, and a slender framed biker, clad in a black leather jacket, dark blue jeans, and black boots, pulled up to a slightly rundown diner on a black and dark purple Harley. It wasn’t until they killed the engine, put down the kickstand, got off the bike, and removed their helmet, that their gender was revealed. After removing her helmet, she gave her head a shake and ran a hand through her hair to remove it from her face and give it a slight fluff. Setting her helmet on the seat of the Harley, she stretched her arms over her head with a slight groan. “Man, what a ride.” she spoke to herself. “Maybe I should have brought the car for this one.” Arching her back, several pops were heard before she straightened herself and let her arms fall and her hands landed on her helmet. “Ah, that’s better.” she said softly to herself. Picking up the helmet and her keys, she unlocked and opened up the traveling box and placed her helmet inside it, closed it, and locked it back. As she shoved her keys into her pocket, she walked up to the diner door. Just before she took hold of the handle, a rather handsome man came up and opened the door for her. “Allow me.” he said in a kind tone with a charming smile. “Thank you.” she replied in a kind tone in return. Stepping through the door, she headed over to the bar and sat down on one of the stools. She preferred it over a table. She always felt a little confined when sitting at a table in a diner or any other place. Picking up a menu, she looked it over to see what they offered. She was pleased to see that one of her favorite burgers was on the menu, and it was what she had her mouth set for. Setting down the menu with a soft sigh, she waited for a waitress to come over and take her order.

A few moments later, an older woman came over with a large, warm smile on her face. “What can I get you, Sugar.” the lady asked just as warmly as her smile. This made the younger woman smile in return before she spoke. “I’ll have the mushroom burger, with fries and a sprite.” The older woman jotted down the order and gave a nod. “I’ll get this put in and have it out shortly.” she told her. “Thank you.” The older woman smiled once again at her and walked off to put in the order. Now by herself, no one was on either side of her, she pulled out her phone and began going through the messages to make sure she hadn’t missed anything. Then she pulled out a book from the inside pocket of her jacket and began scanning the pages. As she did this, the waitress brought over her drink. She gave a “Thank you.” and went back to what she was doing, falling deep into thought. She didn’t even notice someone had sat down beside her and was watching her intently until they spoke. “Hey, Beautiful. What do you say we get our orders to go and we go somewhere and get to know one another better.” Releasing a sigh through her nose, she closed her book and tucked it away before turning and looking at the one that spoke. I was the man that had opened and held the door open for her. “Sorry, I’ll have to rain-check that. I have somewhere to be after this.” she told him. “Aww, come on. Can’t you go later?” he said, acting hurt. “No, I can’t, actually.” she said flatly. He went to speak again, but she cut him off before he even got a word out. “Look, I don’t have the time to go mess around with some random guy. I just want to eat and be on my way. Alright?” she said flatly. “Fine, but can I at least get your number to call you for a date?” Sighing with a nod, she wrote the number to the rejection hotline on a napkin with a fake name. “Thanks, gorgeous.”

About Four hours later
Alton, Illinois

After a good meal in her belly and a slight altercation with another over her Harley, she finally made it to the town she was headed for. Before it had gotten too late, she got in on one tour for the Church she was headed to. As the tour guide spoke about the place and what was going on, she had a feeling more was going on than they let on, and this intrigued her greatly. She actually enjoyed a good haunted place. At one point, she snuck away from the group and do a little investigating on her own, then join the group again before anyone noticed she had left. It was definitely an interesting building, to say the least. So much history and beautiful architecture in one place. One could easily get lost within its walls if they weren’t careful. After the tour and taking another look around outside, she left and found a place to camp out until later that night. She couldn’t just stay parked out front with her Harley without it looking suspicious. Once the time was right, she made her way back to the Church, parking her Harley down a little way from the Church, and made her way to the little window for the basement while staying out of sight of the security cameras. Kneeling down, she pulled out a knife, worked the lock free, opened it, and slid her slender frame through, being careful not to knock over the totes that were below the window. Once her feet were on solid ground, she tucked away her knife and pulled out a flashlight, and shone it around the room. This was the one room she hadn’t made it to when she was there earlier. “Alright, I know you're here. It’s the only place with an ominous vibe.” she spoke out into the cool room. “Come out, come out, wherever you are.” she called out slowly as she made her way to the center of the room.

The longer she was in the basement, the more uneasy she became. Even when nothing happened after she had called out to the ghosts, she still felt uneasy. Sighing heavily, she walked around the basement, looking at the things lining the walls and in the boxes that were there. She had found nothing of any importance but felt she was close when her EMF device went crazy within her top jacket pocket. Before she could even turn to look around the basement room, she was grabbed and sent flying across the room. “GET OUT!!” An angered voice rang out in the room as she slammed into the wall at the end of the room, then crashed into the boxes and other various items on the floor. “Son of a bitch! That smarts!” she groaned as she pushed herself upright. “You’re going to pay for that, Casper!” she growled. She heard giggling before being thrown once again into a wall. “You’ve made a mistake coming here.” a ghostly child-like voice said. “Maybe, but I will send you where you belong!” Child-like giggling was heard again at her comment. She pulled out her gun just as a ghostly figure of a man appeared before her. “We’d like to see you try!” he laughed moments before she shot him with a salt round.

Arabella was born into a family of hunters. They always claimed that it was their one and only job, and that if they didn’t keep the innocent safe from the things that went bump in the night, no one would. Later in life, she was taught how to be a hunter, how to take care of the monsters, and found out it was more than just her family that hunted these monsters. It came to the point where she wanted nothing to do with the hunter's life. She found it unfair that she was forced into the hunter's life, and wanted to live her life her own way. As time went on, she found it harder and harder to stay away from what went bump in the night. It was as if that life was drawn to her. No matter where she went to get away from it all, she’d run into a monster or ghost that needed to be dealt with. She’d also get calls from family, especially her uncle, to come and help them on some cases. So, after a while, she gave up on running from the life and fully embraced it. Especially after saving a woman and her two young children from a small nest of Vampires on her own. After that, she saw the life in a different light, and caused her to put her heart into each and every case she came across.

Now, she has caught wind of a new case and has gone to investigate. She’s about to come in contact with more than just the creature she’s hunting.

Esme was completely unaware of Duke’s actions as she was curled up in the chair with Sarah wrapped protectively around her trembling form. Keeping her face in her trembling hands, she pressed herself more against the large Hellhound as she cried into them. It had been some time since the memories she had managed to bury had affected her this much and caused her to lose control of her emotions. Though in the back of her mind she always knew they would come back to haunt her, but not in a way like this. She never thought she would find herself this mentally and physically tired, or even face what she had after meeting back up with the Winchesters. Hell, she never saw herself meeting up with them after hearing about Dean’s death. She wasn’t even sure she’d ever meet back up with Duke with how long it had been, but here she was, back with all of them, a Demon, and friends with a Hellhound. Was this just the sort of events and creatures she attracted? Was she more than what she was led to believe and that’s why Demons were so drawn to her? Was it the Winchesters that attracted it all? Was it both of them? Did other hunters come across half the crap they did almost on a daily basis?

Esme gave a quiet thank you to Sarah as she shifted against her and curled in more on herself feeling cold before Duke squatted in front of the chair. When Duke placed his hand on her thigh, she nearly jumped out of her skin, even with how carefully he had done it. Thankfully there was a wall behind the chair to keep it from falling over and to keep her from scrambling out of it, and also Sarah to keep her in the chair. When Esme heard Duke’s voice, she calmed a bit, but didn’t pull her face from her hands just yet as he spoke. After a moment, she finally pulled her hands from her face and wrapped her arms around herself. Sarah pulled back a bit and looked down at her, noticing that Esme was no longer wearing the towel she had earlier. She gently nudged Esme so she was leaning more against the back of the chair before she carefully pulled herself away. Padding over to the bed, Sarah pulled the blanket from the bed then brought it back over to Esme. Doing the best she could, Sarah placed the blanket on one of Esme’s shoulders. When Esme took hold, Sarah released it then grabbed another mouthful of blanket, placing it on Esme’s other shoulder. Once Esme took hold, Sarah let go and watched her as she pulled the blanket around herself and stared at the floor. Esme took in a deep breath and slowly let it out through her nose as she slightly turned her head towards Duke. She wasn’t looking directly at him, but he was in her line of sight.

“It’s not just a nightmare.” she breathed, finally breaking the silence. She closed her eyes briefly as she pulled the blanket up more around her still trembling frame. His paranoia wasn’t helping her any, but she pushed past it the best she could. “It’s horrible memories I thought I had pushed out of my mind to never think about again and had gotten over.” she told him. If she were in the right state of mind, she would be kicking herself for letting Duke see this vulnerable side of her. “Three of the worst days of my life have come back to haunt me once again, and right now, I’m not mentally strong enough to block them out like I have before.” she admitted. Adjusting herself once more in the chair, she adjusted the blanket before running a hand through her hair, to get it out of her face, then wrapped her arms around her legs then laid her cheek on her knees. She sniffled and turned her eyes back to the floor and Sarah’s large paws as tears welled up in her eyes. “One is that time in Toledo where you had given up and I thought I was going to lose you. The second is the day I lost my family to some unknown monster. The third…… Is the worst of all. It’s when I was tricked……” She swallowed hard and wrapped her arms tighter around her legs. She was about to tell him something she hadn’t told anyone, and it was quite difficult to get out. “When I was tricked, kidnapped, and tortured by a group of Demons.” The words flew quickly from her mouth, not giving herself time to stop them again. She closed her eyes tightly to focus on not breaking down again, forcing the welled up tears to finally fall.

Esme drew in a shaky breath, slowly letting it out as she opened her eyes to stop the memories from playing behind her eyelids. “If you think or name a type of……. Torture. It was probably done to me. Before I was found….. They were close to…… Close to….” she said softly, stopping before saying the last word, it was too hard to say. She still couldn’t bring herself to look directly at him, especially after trying to tell him what happened, and having conflicting feelings. She really didn’t want to be touched by anyone, but she also wanted to be wrapped in a warm embrace and not be let go. Though she also felt the need to step outside to get some fresh night air to help her calm down and collect herself. Sniffling, she turned her head away and brought the blanket up over her head, covering her face realizing what she had done. She had unloaded on him for the second time that night and she figured this news would hit him much harder than learning what she was. “I…. I’m sorry, Duke. I’ve dropped a bomb on you again. One I’ve never told anyone.” she said with a sniffle. She didn’t want him to feel sorry for her, but knew he would after hearing what happened to her while she was on her own, his heart was far too big for him not to. She felt horrible for dropping a bomb on him for the second time that night and for causing him to become paranoid. It seemed like she had a knack for making those around her paranoid, worry about her, and wonder what kind of bomb she might drop on them. Esme fell silent under the blanket, other than sniffling every now and then.

Sarah gave a whine as she looked at the blanket Esme was under, then nuzzled her head against Esme’s back before keeping it there. Esme sighed heavily, feeling Sarah’s head on her back, but she didn’t remove the blanket from her head. After taking some deep breaths and slowly letting them out, she finally removed the blanket from her head, feeling she wasn’t going to break down again anytime soon. Turning her head back towards Duke, she looked down at Sarah’s paws once again. Sarah lifted her head from Esme’s back giving another whine, then gently nuzzled her cheek before Esme softly shook her head. “No Sarah, I don’t want you to leave.” she breathed. Esme pulled a hand from under the blanket and placed it on top of Sarah’s large head and scratched it. “I may have a problem with Demons, but I don’t have a problem with you.” she continued as she scratched between Sarah’s ears. Sarah leaned into Esme’s hand a moment before nuzzling her cheek once again, which brought a weak smile to her lips. Esme slowly uncurled herself, set her feet on the floor, then turned her body so she was sitting normally in the chair. She then lifted her head just enough to see Duke’s face, but not enough to make eye contact, and focused on the lower half of his face. “I don’t want you to leave either.” she told him. “I need both of you to help me through this and make sure I don’t do anything reckless if I go through this again.” she admitted. Gathering the blanket, she took to her feet as did Sarah to steady her. She took a few steps away from the chair then slightly turned to look back at Duke as she held the blanket around her.

“I also feel that you’re the only one that can help me stop flinching when I’m touched.” Her gaze dropped briefly before she turned it to the door, then back to him. “I’m going to step outside for a bit for some air. You’re more than welcome to join me if you like.” she said then walked to the door, Sarah close to her side. She unlocked the door and opened it, Sarah went out first then Esme stepped partially out and looked back at Duke. “And don’t worry, I don’t plan on running.” she said with a small smile. Before walking out the door, she pulled the trash can into the doorway so she could get back in incase he chose not to join her outside to think about what she told him. After making sure the trash can would hold the door, Esme walked away from the door a ways before stopping and looking out over the parking lot, noting she was still without a car. Using the blanket she wiped away a few stray tears from her tear stained cheeks, closed her eyes, and tilted her head towards the sky and breathed in the fresh air. She could feel herself wanting to break down again, but she fought to keep control. “Come on, hold it together girl.” she told You’ve cried way too much these past few days. Suck it up and shove it all back down into that box in the back of your mind again.” She continued to breathe deeply and slowly released the breath to calm herself and stay in control of herself and not tear up again.
