As one of the "humans" came stumbling forward out of the darkness, Mithias stood up. He blinked as he recognized the commander, Matt. Obviously, Gabriel had drawn this particular mortal here, and so should have been fully prepared for whatever consequences may have resulted. Mithias noted Gabriel hadn't bothered to disarm the commander prior to bringing him here, but bullets certainly couldn't kill the blooddrinking archfiend. Nonetheless, knowing both their personalities, Mithias knew this exchange was going to be rocky. For one thing, there was no way an ancient vampire was ever going to send advance notice of his location. They always had enemies. So, an arrival such as this was fairly unavoidable. Matt however, like most humans, lacked the ability or desire to discern between vampires and to understand their ways. He would interpret this as an attack, especially since the entire base had been expecting one, and naturally defend himself.

Inwardly, Mithias winced. He hoped he could keep things civil, lest his ties of blood trump his contract with SOLDIER. He didn't know why Gabriel had chosen this night, this base, this human, or why he always had a fragrant blood-red rose brooch every time he appeared, but he could only assume there was a reason he wasn't mentally manipulating from afar. ...and he partially hoped that reason wasn't merely personal amusement.

Mithias met Matt's suspicious gaze, feeling tensions predictably begin to rise. Matt was a brave man, but at that instant was wavering on the edge of serious stupidity. The vampire held his hand out in a calming gesture to him, approaching slowly. "Commander, wait. You don't understand the situation." But his words seemed to fall on deaf ears, as Matt had already made a decision.

As Matt reached for his chakram, the soft sound of vibrating metal could be heard behind those elegant coattails. Words weren't going to cut it, and Mithias would be damned if he didn't at least attempt to save his human commander from the results of pissing Gabriel off. Mid-air, the chakram rung itself around a titanium sword with a clamor, sliding down to the forte as Mithias moved in front of the mysterious and eerie visitor. There was little time to frown before a barrage of bullets followed. Mithias clasped his vambraces together in a mock shield while the projectiles mostly deflected off his armor. "Stop Matt!" He tried to say over the gunfire.

To a vampire, it seemed to take an eternity, but even commander Matt ceased fire, seeing it futile and against the wrong target. Mithias could only assume any human would have simply been acting out of fear, but he couldn't read minds.

Not certain where Gabriel had gone to, or if he had moved, Mithias peered over his arms at Matt and sighed heavily.

"Commander Matt. It is my duty to inform you that Gabriel is an Onyx-class vampire... THE Onyx-class vampire. If you will recall your training, you know that the very fact that you are still in your right mind and that he is revealing himself to you mean that he has peaceful intentions. He has come to talk... to you." Mithias paused a moment, to see if any of this was registering with the human. As he continued, he extended his sword toward the commander, sliding the chakram ring down the blade and stopping it perfectly at the tip for Matt to grab. "This is a vampire that is tens of thousands of years old, Matt. Twenty to thirty times even my age. He knows more about the world than any of us. I urge you to hear him." Mithias and Matt both knew, that although they didn't have any solid evidence against him, Gabriel was technically on SOLDIER's kill-on-sight list. He was feared greatly, simply for what he was.
... wellI guess I was never in danger... >>
Two swords on hips, daggers mounted just below the blades, daggers on calves, whip looped up and secured to belt behind him. He doesn't currently have a bow equipped but that could be slung across his chest. However, if that didn't obstruct melee arm movement, a quiver surely would. I'm just giving myself the option of a ranged weapon in the future. Oh! I completely forgot his metal vambraces which he uses as defense. I'll have to edit that.

Thanks for accepting.
Ah. Alright. Thank you for the honest lowdown. I'll read up on the most recent events and then get a CS up. Gonna think about where to fit in.
Alright. Thank you Shikaru. I pestered Wiz to reply for Johnathan too.

I got half a post written, but I have to go to bed. I'll finish it tomorrow morning. Maybe Wiz will let me post first?
Hm. Any desire for a new player?
Im about to quit.
Is this ever going to get off the ground or did it get abandoned?
Name: Mithias Aldaric Varomere
Age: 797, but no one knows his age.
Race: Vampire

Personality: Despite centuries of watching the world turn, Mithias has not grown bored and cold to life. He has a heart, a human-like sympathy for others, regardless of their race. He takes pleasure in the happiness of others and enjoys nature, no matter how many times he's seen it. He finds no use in deceit and dishonor, and over time has just naturally inclined toward honesty and loyalty.

Appearance:

- Description: Mithias has golden yellow eyes that alight with a fire-like glow when roused. His white skin makes his nature obvious, and he can't pass for a human. He's somewhat tall, with clawed hands, and long black hair like a wild horse.

Equipment: - Mithias has learned a variety of weapons in his ages of battling monsters and survival. Currently, he uses two katana-type swords as his main weapons in melee. His mind is so sharp that a single weapon would be a waste of his other arm. he also carries several daggers, three of which are named and have barbed edges with blood-letting grooves down the blades: Blooddrinker, Heartseeker, and Soulstealer. Lastly, he has a whip, that with his magic ability, he can light on fire if he chooses.
Expect him to be a good shot with a bow.

Primary Magic: Mithias primary magic or supernatural ability is defense of his own mind. In other words, he cannot be mind-controlled, tricked with illusions, mentally influenced, and his thoughts cannot be read.

Secondary Magic: Recently, Mithias has become aware that he developed pyrokinesis. His level of fire magic power seems correlated to the intensity of his emotions.

Bio:
No one knows when Mithias was turned or by whom. All that is known is that is was multiple centuries ago. He has occasionally vanished for periods of human history, only to suddenly reappear in the role of a protector, or to help establish peace between the species whenever superstition, fear, and jealousy incited war. He is known as hunter of aberrant vampires and demons, favoring human survival. He has no known sirelings. Some believe he may be the oldest vampire alive.

The truth is, Mithias is old enough to have known the first vampires, because they made him. However, Mithias is only an infant in comparison to them. There certainly could be others who have waited out the ages as he has, perhaps slumbering somewhere underground until awakened by an earthquake or what have you. Most vampires from old times have probably killed themselves out of boredom or hopelessness. Something keeps Mithias going on.

Other: Mithias is currently contracted with the military to hunt down powerful vampires or half-demons who are criminals.
Nobody can.
