Damien sighed heavily at the girl's blunder and tapped his foot.
The white-haired vampire listened as he appeared to be cleaning some glasses.
Nightfall, was getting close. Mithias sighed heavily in frustration as the trail became confused at the point of a large rock. Darkness would only give his adversaries an edge and his allies a deficit. Night-vision goggles were a pathetic approximation of a vampire's sight and senses. Any humans would be scrambling to make up for their losses. Certainly Magnus and his vampires would relocate, if not renew the attack after dark. Mithias had to hurry.

The vampire stopped the jet, popped open the canopy, and jumped to the ground. Relaying his instructions with a small control panel, he sent the jet off into a holding pattern on its own. With the scream of the aircraft now gone, Mithias went to examining his surroundings on a more personal level. The blood on the original trail had its own identifying scent, clearly distinguishable from human blood. Mithias could easily tell the difference... the fact was, he had acquired a taste for vampire blood. His primary purpose in SOLDIER was hunting and killing vampires. Humans hardly ever became so much of a problem that someone needed to die. When he killed a vampire, he would feed on them, gaining a small portion of their strength. Mithias had been in SOLDIER a long time.

The trail did split three ways, but only one way had any small drop of that precious scent of power. The choice was clear, and the river was only a two-way split, as logically, Magnus would have gone either up or down stream. Mithas started walking downstream, his senses on high alert for any scent, sound, or broken branch. He was getting closer. Other rebel vampires had probably ran back this way, and their trails would converge on the same area. Speaking of which... there would no doubt be some of them keeping watch. Mithias moved himself closer to the trees alongside the river. The fading light was just right to reveal a humanoid shape just up the rise.

Drawing his blades silently, Mithias moved in close enough to charge. He couldn't see over the rise, but he didn't hear anything, so attacking this sentinel was a risk he was willing to take. The vampire had not even time to turn around to the sound of footfalls in the dirt before Mithias drove his right blade into his right side and across his insides through both lungs. With the left blade, he cut across the lookout's throat, opening his windpipe and spilling dark blood. The vampire was fairly young and already wounded. He didn't get a chance to make a sound, but his death had been swift and merciful. Mithias always felt a pang of regret when a youth was killed, as if it were a human. ...poor chap had just made some wrong choices. A poor choice for a guard, nonetheless.

Mithias laid the body down and checked to see that he had not been seen. There was a cave opening not far from there. Mithias signaled his jet to double back before he crept closer.
There's the slight problem of Mithias and crucifixes.

Also, that secret mission detachment that Miller sent out... I wonder if they'll get there in time.
Alright. Thanks.
I was thinking of blowing up the cave, actually. Not that that would actually happen; something else would probably happen for story purposes, but that seems like a sound plan for Mithias right now. It's up to you if you want Mith to find Magnus and cause some havoc or if you want to successfully remain hidden. If mithias finds the cave, he'd probably have to confirm Magnus was there and then debate on whether or not he should effectively kill everyone inside. ...could be humans in there.

Oh. Not to mention Miller or Matt could call him off... if they knew to do that.
You should start thinking of what Mag's last words will be.
Agent Varomere hovered above the broken wall where Matt and the infamous one had been. He had heard enough to possibly interfere with Gabriel's plans, with some luck. His honed mental shield kept the vampire from duping him with any tricks, and Mithais saw where he had 'vanished' to. His fighter-jet's scanners were completely fooled however. Mithias smirked as he noticed Martin, whom he did not know yet, promptly find Gabriel at the corner. So much for ancient vampire tricks and technology.

A drop of blood? This brought a frown to Mith's face. "You're getting reckless with your power, old man." Mithias said to himself as he contemplated a counter move. No new orders had not come in yet. Matt was probably still reeling from the encounter... or he was arguing with HQ. It was time to take advantage. Even Gabriel couldn't be everywhere at once. If he wanted Magnus alive for some reason, then Magnus had to die. SOLDIER didn't have the technology or the agents, not even special agent vampires, to possibly locate Magnus, but Mithias knew he might have a unique chance.

If SOLDIER could have bombed Magnus, or Gabriel, they would have. The trouble was, they couldn't destroy Gabriel without surely starting a war with Magnus' bunch. The oldblood may have been gravely injured, but he'd certainly return with a vengeance. ... unless Mithias killed him first.

The fighter jet suddenly levitated upwards and began moving in the last seen direction of the wounded Magnus. Mithias gave no communication of what he was doing. He was in essence going rogue, willing to take the wrath of Gabriel off of SOLDIER so that Magnus could be killed. He just had to hope he could find the old vampire before it was too late. The jet shot off with a roar.

Moments later, Mithias slowed and scanned the bloody trail in the forest.
The vampire bartender caught her looking at him and gave a sly smile before going back to his mixing.
Woot.
