It was weird watching the others talk. Nessa had the sudden urge to bare her fangs and hiss and wasn't that so horror movie of the 80's! She licked her lips. She really wanted to get the search going to find that boy, however the meaning of her new assignment started sicking through. They were talking about a mass murder within the kindred. Someone was on the loose, killing. The boy would have to wait! Yes, he was definitely in danger, but this serial killer could take another life at any moment and she wasn't going to let anything get in her way! If she'd have to work with these guys she'd manage somehow. They all seemed distant, but none had been unfriendly so far. Why should she be? With a smile she inclined her head as the dark haired woman with the weird manner of speech approached the child and her. So they'd all be staying at one place? Great! So she wouldn't be watching the evening classes and self defence courses anymore, huh? At least not for a while. That didn't quite sit right with her, but it wasn't to be changed. Hopefully they'd all get along somehow.

Then a ride was offered. Nessa was so on board! With a grin of joy she followed the man. Opening the passenger door she slipped onto the seat, smiling at the driver. She extended her hand. “Thanks for the ride. I'm Nessa.” In this moment she realized she hadn't mentioned her name during the introduction. Well, they'd figure it out eventually. No need to worry. She looked around. She'd only been a car twice: the first time had been when her Mom had taken her away, the second when they'd returned and the kind lady from the shelter had brought them to their new apartment with all their belongings. The thought of her mother let her wince. The poor woman was all alone now . . . Absent-minded she stared at the radio. “It's a really nice car.” She said to the radio, extending a finger to stroke it's borders. This looked complicated but fun at the same time. “I wonder what kind of music you listen to – or are you one of those radio listeners?” Her eyes were brought up to meet those of the man. Alex was it, wasn't it? Yes, she thought he'd said something like that as they had stood together.
Don't stress yourself. ;)
Me, too! :)
The warrior smiled as Rhoynar approached. Apparently he hadn’t noticed the conversation and she was grateful to the gods that she wouldn’t have to explain anything to him. As they headed out she couldn’t help notice the ever so slight twitch in his face. Those dark eyes of him seemed gloomy. A shudder went through Illinfers spine and she drove Epona to follow the knight as he picked up the speed. A day, huh? Hopefully he wouldn’t throw himself into the seen as soon as they reached the docs . . . The woman didn’t bother trying to give him a smile. He was so focused. What did she care anyway? She took a deep breath as they left the city walls behind them That place had been so crowded! Now she was back to the familiar freedom of nature. Closing her eyes the woman laid back her head, listening to the rhythmic sound of hooves on stone. Epona was a trained warhorse. She would follow the road, dodging anyone that dared step in her way. The sounds changed as people passed by . . . as did the rhythm of one of the horses. Illinfer snapped back to attention, looking at Rhoynar, then to the cart they were passing.

The warriors features changed as a spike of terror shot through he like a lightning bolt. She drew her sword and laid the blank steel across her saddle in front of her, raining in Epona so she would avoid passing by too close to the cart. When they had finally passed she felt the knights gaze upon her and met his eyes with a grim expression. “You are misinformed. The illness was never entirely eradicated. There was small village near the mountains that was cleansed just recently.” She took a deep breath as she remembered the horrid scenes. Luckily she had been one of the warriors designated to protect the healers. And as they had seen no way of recovery for those poor people they had left for home, taking their guards with them. “Apparently some fled . . .I didn’t know it came this far.” Her voice shook slightly. This was not good. This wasn’t good at all! What if the northern villages were infected as well? She didn’t have the time to go and check. This morning, however, everything had been just fine. She calmed herself with the knowledge that her parents-in-law would flee the instant they saw any signs of the plague. They would be safe.

“We should leave as immediately!” her dark voice sounded earnest and rough as she swallowed down the sickly motion coming from her stomach. Without waiting for an answer she sheathed her sword and kicked her tongue. Her horse sprang into a wild gallop. The people they had passed had been the last on the road. This late most travelers had already taken camp or were about to. No one - except for a certain knight and warrior - was stupid enough to wander the roads at night since there would be thieves roaming about close to the city. The farther the rode the smaller the chance of meeting those lot.
I'll be posting soon . . .
Listening to the others talk made her want to scream and run off into the night to finally get some action going! Instead she plucked at her white T-Shirt and pink blouse that she had bound into a knot at her navel instead of buttoning it down. Her boots shifted on the asphalt as she resettled her weight onto the other leg. Some habits she just couldn't let go of. Nessa thought of that little boy who had gotten abducted and let out a silent curse as impatience rose within her, threatening to make her go all Flash around town. Had she managed to memorize that licence plate? She thought hard, picturing the car, the man, the kid . . . The man had been in a suit. No one in the outer circle had a suit, let alone knew what a suit was. Most just had two or three sets of jeans, worn off shirts and a jumper or two.

Her attention shifted as conversation was picked up again. It was rather weird watching the scene. Here they were, vampires, standing in the middle of the street, talking about their abilities and a manhunt in public, not a care in the world. Go masquerade! And they did seem to be a weird lot. Nessa couldn't quite tell what clans the others came from, except for their Nosferatu leader, which was really obvious. She wasn't keen on being here but somehow she had the sensation that she didn't have a choice. The prince called and you obeyed, that was what her sire had said, before he'd left her to fend for herself. Great man that was! First he saved her from the brink of death just to leave her shortly before dawn – just because he'd been bored.

The boy moved and Nessas eyes travelled in his direction. Was that a lighter? The small flame coming out of it made her wince and back away about five steps, until she almost stumbled into pretty-boy. Why the heck would he have a light – and fucking use it! That crazy little . . . boy. She straightened her back again, huffing slightly as she tugged at her clothing, not daring to look at the glimming cigarette in his hand. She'd learned the hard way to stay the hell away from fire! Then the brat spoke and Nessa couldn't quite follow. Room made of wood? And who was he referring to? Who was this sugar-bell? She looked around, surely it was one of the other vampires. Shoving her hands into her pockets she looked about, waiting for something – anything – to happen. She wasn't the best type for waiting. Nah, she'd rather be doing stuff right now. Like, say, saving a small boy from a potentially dangerous man in a funny suit and car? Yeah, sounded like a plan.

Her eyes wondered about, coming to rest upon the Nosferatu, looking through her as she got lost in thought once more. Someone else must have seen. Perhaps someone had taken down a licence plate number?
