I have a one punch man RP if anyone is interested? I'm definitely going to be making it happen with enough players
Hey man, welcome. What kind of rps are you looking to get into?
He's a martial artist too. But I guess that's about it. Oh, his skin, or mass is slightly more durable from dealing with so many g forces. So that will add a little kick to his offense and defence, but not so much that he'd be classed as super strong or impenetrable or anything. He'd be susceptible to a lot of different ways of damage etc. I plan to use the speed thing as a joke as much as an awesome idea to manipulate in this universe. Tell you what, I'll post my character sheet tomorrow and you can tell me what you think about it.
Oh okay, well that's fine with me. How would you feel about a speedster with the potential of running faster than the speed of light?
Ooohhh okay, so why no S rank? Is it because of the introduction of E rank? Meaning that A rank is the new S? My understanding was that EX rank was the new S rank. But I guess not
Looking it over once again, I actually think I might join up. The problem is however, that my original character idea was to run a slightly similar character to OPM but have him have seemingly unlimited speed rather than strength. But I expect that would place him in the EX category. However, I'm happy for him to start lower and work up the ranks. I'm also willing to say his powers are still in development at the time of his introduction, with him gaining speed and using his ability in new ways as he goes kinda thing. I guess the issue is if people can develop into an EX character or not or if it's just off limits all together. If so I might just have to come up with a new character

Well I'm not looking for it to be an all fighting RP, the character development, intentions etc should be just as integral, if not more so in my RP. It's just finding people who understand that....If you'd like to take a look even just out of curiosity, I posted my idea in the general interest check thread here: HERE
(The core of the plot will be loosely driven by Canon NPC's and the original plot line. However, much of this can change through character interaction etc. Excuse me if there seems like a lot to read, I've only put in the PL system so people can know what they're getting into and see how this is going to work. This could wind up mature or whatever, I don't mind. I'm just looking for people who like some good action and character development.)

Planet earth is being silently ravaged. Unknown to the mass populations of the planet, two dark forces are both striving for power. The one they call Goku, warrior from planet Vegeta and raised by his grandfather, and martial arts master Gohan to the very best of his ability. However, Gohan's gentle and calm approach was despised by the young sayajinn, who after some time in his care, killed his grandpa in a violent act of liberation. Gohan feared his power hungry grandson and had tried to keep the existence of the Dragonballs from him, however after his murder Goku discovered Gohan's Dragonball and the lore that came with it. Inspired by the tale of the Dragonballs, Goku set out to find and gather all the Dragonballs in a desperate bid to gain immortality, and ultimate power in the universe.

Unknown to him, another force seeks the Dragonballs, a force that seeks a different kind of power. Piccolo Daimo, the demon king and his demon kin have been scouring the earth in search of the Dragonballs and their one wish. His wish? To rule over all of Earth and it's people, even his own brother incarnate Kami. So far they have been unsuccessful yet as their power grows so does their reach, it is only a matter of time before Piccolo and his demon kin discover their first Dragonball.

In spite of all this, the humans of Earth are celebrating, why? Because the World Martial Arts Championships are back! All the greatest fighters from across the land are gathering together for that special time of year! Who will win? Nobody knows, not with so many top contenders! So lets roll out the red carpet and get things started!

That's right folks to kick this RP off we'll be having a martial arts tournament! So sign up, get approved and put your name down! There will be decent PL gains from the bouts alone (setting you up to go into the next arc.) The winner and close second will also receive prizes. For the top spot, you'll get to pick a new technique, or come up with your own without having to train to achieve it, you'll just know it after that, neat right? On top of that you'll also receive a 25% For second place, You'll get a free physical technique and a 10% PL increase! So it's all worth playing for here at Ichi. But there will be no real losers, as every fight will give out PL gains to all, so everybody should be feeling pretty sweet afterwards!

Alright, as you guys well know, in combat there is no God Modding,(for those of you who don't know, this is the declaration of certain, definite hits rather than attempts. Any attack in this RP is an attempt and the other player gets to choose how these attacks play out.) no meta gaming (knowing players thoughts or information read on bios without it being discussed IC first.) and no killing (only the player decides when this happens, unless in life or death combat.) Obviously there will be factors that play into each of these things which shall be explained as we go on.

Now, for the game mechanics, first we'll start with the PL system.

Every starting character gets a starting power level. The base and default PL is around the 200 mark, for every character. Now, there are ways to boost your starting PL, the main one being quality of writing. If your character is well thought out and well put together, with a solid history that can account for a slightly higher base PL, then you shall receive it. It will, ultimately be determined by me, the GM, but it will be fair. Now, some people may not be of a very good writing capability but are still enthusiastic enough to want to get involved. Don't worry you can get involved, but one thing I'll stress is that this game is centered around writing, as words make up the basis of PL gains, so if you find writing a paragraph or three in a post a chore this may not be the game for you.

Calculating PL Gains.

In a thread that you are involved in, count up how many posts you did and put a 0.0 in front of that number then multiply that with your word count for that particular thread. (e.g. Player's wordcount, 3084. Posts, 7. 3084 x 0.07 = 216.)
(e.g. no.2 Players wordcount, 20346. Posts, 18. 20346 x 0.18 = 3662.) So the more you write and the more posts you have, the better the results will be.

Training and Gravity.

When it comes to training, the normal PL gains system applies. However when in high gravity training there are stipulations. In order to train in high gravity one must be of a certain kind of strength. Lets say you'd like to train at 1x earths gravity. In order to do this you must have a powerlevel of 1000 or over. for 2x gravity, you must have a PL of over 2000, and so on and so fourth. The PL gains from gravity training (or fighting on a planet with increased gravity.) Are worked out very similarly to regular training with a littler difference. This time the gravity is taken into account. (e.g. word count, 4532. Post count, 8. Gravity, 4. 4532 x 0.08 x 4 = 1450.) (for training in gravity 1x, multiply by 1.5) I'm banking on people working these things out for themselves, anyone caught fiddling their results to get ahead will be either warned or thrown off the RP, I expect to be able to trust my fellow players.

Battle system and how PL affects it.

We've already established that we're a no god modding and a turn based RPG. However there are some things that can work in your favor. When fighting a stronger opponent, it's likely you'll get hit more often and do less damage to the opponent so you may want to use some strategy. Here is a quick list outlining the guidelines for hit/miss ratio.

If 20% weaker, can fight neck and neck but liable to be hit by opponent more often.
If 40% weaker, can fight opponent, perhaps could do damage with a sneak attack or charged attack. Is likely to get hit more frequently and take more damage.
If 60% weaker, can fight but will likely take heavy damage. An all out charged attack may inflict damage to opponent but would be slow and risky. Is more likely to die.
80% weaker, can fight but would likely die. Most attacks would not effect opponent, even an all out attack would likely fail against them.

The opposite is true of all the above examples for stronger opponents.

PL Boosts/ Story arc Prizes etc.

When in a tournament or a story arc of some description, there may be prizes or PL boosts for performing certain tasks. When awarded one the prize comes into effect in the next thread. Say for instance, you get a PL boost for killing a certain character, to work this out you must first calculate the PL gain you got from the thread alone (or in other words as normal). Once you have that figure you can then work out your boost. If say your PL after calculated gains is 437, to figure out a 25% increase, you would have to find out what 25% of 437 was (110) you then add that figure to your base to get the total boost, In this case the total boost would be 547. Most of the prizes will be self explanatory, such as receiving a new technique, item, Dragon Ball etc.

Using Energy attacks.
To determine the strength of a Ki attack, multiply your PL by the amount in percent of energy you used. (e.g. Chad, PL 243, uses 40% energy for blast. 243 x 0.4 = 98. Total power = 341)
Using Ki also depletes energy and effects PL for the rest of battle. To calculate expenditure, multiply PL by half the amount of percent used in Ki attack and subtract solution from PL. (Chad used 40% power so, 243 x 0.2 = 47. Pl for rest of fight = 196) Make a note of power used and power of Ki blast at the bottom of your post when using a Ki attack, as well as an update on what PL your character is left with afterwards.

This system ensures that Ki techniques become more of a strategic play rather than just a means to blast your opponents to death every post. Adding strength to a Ki blast adds speed also, which means that there is an increased chance of hitting. Speaking of hitting...

Now, this is only a strict rule for Ki techniques, however this system can be used for physical techniques as well if players in a thread wish it. To work out if a Ki blast strikes, the receiver of the blast must roll 3 twenty sided dice. (Go here if you need some: http://www.roll-dice-online.com/) Work out the percent difference between you and your opponents PL when attacking (Chad = 300, Phil = 180. % difference = 60. Next work out 60% of 20, which is 12. This means that if you roll 1-12 = hit, 13-20 = miss. Get 2 or more hit rolls and the attack strikes, if not the victim evades/block/whatever.) We're trusting that people play this out fair, if a Ki blast strikes, it strikes.

RPing this system.

When it comes to RPing with this I'm expecting people to be sensible. Even if you're say 20% stronger but RP your character so that they take some big hits from the weaker character, don't act like you didn't take any hits. Anyone caught power playing like this will be warned and repeat offenders will be thrown off the game. Same goes for weaker players, or for those that think they can dodge anything or never get tired. Anyone caught RPing in this manner will be warned, and if they are a repeat offender, thrown off the game. It's not hard to fight fair guys, and to be honest it's actually much more interesting. I've made this system fairly simple to understand so that people can get into this game fast. Please don't abuse it.

Life or death combat.

Life or death combat is always in effect so make sure you RP appropriately. Now, not all life and death instances actually result in death, all it means is that if say someone out RP's you in strategy or writing ability or just plain strength, they could then potentially kill you if they/you feel they could/should, or no one saves you, or they're insane etc etc. So take this seriously while alive, approach other fighters with caution, in fact it might be a better idea to try and befriend them.

Remember though guys, dying isn't the end of everything in DB (unless you want to make a new charrie). There's still another world to explore after death so don't get too worried about it, it's just so people understand if their character dies. It's in situations like life and death combat that the weakness of being "hot headed, arrogant or ignorant" are actually weaknesses. So bare that in mind. But if it turns out everybody dies or something silly like that I have ideas for adventures in the afterlife too so don't worry, the story will go on!

My name is Yin, I am 23, I Live in Cardiff (so I'm from the UK) I like lots of different things, like music, comedy, anime, writing, interesting characters, art, comics, cartoons, films yadda yadda yadda. I've been Rping since I was pretty young but still haven't found a place to call home. My dream has always been to have a successful Dragon Ball RP. Silly as that sounds, it's what I'm setting out to do. I have an idea that I'm going to use here and hopefully it'll get picked up here. I tried it elsewhere but the reception to a DBRP was pretty abysmal. I was hoping to have more luck here and actually find some creative minds to bounce off and really make it interesting. So yeah I think that about covers an introduction, so yeah, hi.
