Current And maybe most people don't like getting a single line back in response to a few paragraphs? Like whatever floats your boat, but there's a reason Free exists.

Hey now, he's becoming self-aware. Don't take that from him.

If the man's is asking for a ban, might as well give it to him. Good riddance.

Then you'd just be crying about why it's permanent instead.

Yay, sleepovers! Sorry if Catherine seems too trusting. But it's just cause you guys are shifters. I-it's not like she likes you or anything, s-stupid! :D

Jean finds it a somewhat endearing, even if he thinks it's foolish.
Silence. Well, as close as one could get when living in close proximity with others. He could hear the soft footsteps of someone on the upper floor, another fifth year rolling around in their bed next door, or one of the many other that were caught by his ears. And with a quiet sigh, the slow sounds of his heartbeat joined back in once again. That was the sign for Raule to open his eyes and get off the bed. Swinging his legs off the side, he cradled his forehead for a moment as his vision returned to normal, the impenetrable blackness fading away. Sighing, he trudged over to the room’s washroom to freshen up for the dreadfully boring day ahead. The majority of classes taught at the Academy held little appeal to him, though he understood the need for certain subjects being taught. Others, like history with Mr. Jovice first thing this morning, not so much.
The midwinter air was chilly, but not terribly uncomfortable as it rushed into the room. Sitting at the open window, Raule watched the sun climb over the horizon absentmindedly. There wasn’t much he had to do until class began, and he had already had a bit of Academy fare yesterday. It was okay occasionally, but he would easily get sick of what was offered if he went every day, much less every meal. If he wasn’t what he was, Raule probably would have tried to get an extra hour or two of sleep. As it was though, sleep had never come easily for the past seven years, so it would have been a pointless endeavor to even try. Sighing, he eyed the produced cloud before it was wicked away in a gust of cold air. And then continued to let the time waste away.
Unsurprisingly, given his “enthusiasm” for the upcoming lesson, Raule stepped into the classroom scant minutes before it was scheduled to begin. He met eyes with a few of his classmates, waved at some others, greeted them all, and found an empty seat. He had just settled in when the door hissed open again and their teacher, Mr. Jovice, walked in, though it was more accurate to describe it as a waddle. Sighing quietly, he dropped his chin in a hand propped up on the table and let his eyes wander. Simply napping wasn’t an option, more of an impossibility, and he had very little intention of actually listening to the man drone on. His other hand danced across the table’s display idly, sending soft vibrations through the desk with the feedback at max.
She might have only got a shrug in response, but Jean’s expression showed that he wasn’t adverse to the idea of company for his late meal. He wasn’t hurting for money at the moment, and even felt a bit generous tonight. With Catherine at his side he began to walk, counting on her to keep up. His grin grew just a bit when she broached the topic that must have come to mind when she handled his gloves. Turning to her to answer, Jean found himself instead stepping out of the path of two individuals. He tried to pull Catherine out of the way, but only managed to somewhat break her fall so she didn’t go down too hard. Looking up quickly, he scanned the two individuals before determining they weren’t dangerous. On the contrary they seemed almost panicked for some reason, one that Jean quickly figured out from the two cops that seemed to be in pursuit.

Stifling a chuckle as Catherine basically dived back into the alley with the two in hand, Jean shook his head as he turned to approach the officers. He wasn’t blind after all, she was limping after that fall, and he wasn’t counting the officers to be either. Pressing themselves against the alley wall wasn’t going to stop the officers from noticing if the pair actually bothered to look. Sliding his hands into his pocket, he gave a small nod when the two came close enough to turn their attention on him. “Nice night for a jog isn’t it,” he called out with a disarming smile as he watched the two for their reaction. It was quickly apparent who was the senior in charge out of the pair, especially when his junior was shooting him nervous glances now. The officer stared at Jean for a few moments before recognition hit, and the scowl that came with it.
“You’re one of Malko’s?”
“That is what the boss likes to be called at times, yes.” He secretly relished the nervous gulp the junior made as realization seemed to dawn on the younger officer. It seemed that the boss’ influence extended to these individuals as well, like it did for most of their colleagues. They might not have been paid off directly, but someone above them certainly had. So the two sides tolerated one another, and just generally kept out of one another’s business. Malko would feed the police information and money, and the police would leave his “employees” alone.
“You seen two individuals walk by?”
“Can’t say I have officer,” he replied, his smile not even faltering for a moment with the flat out lie. He met the officer’s stare without any hesitation and after a few moments the man finally looked aside, not finding what he wanted.
“Let’s go.” With the gruff order, he marched past Jean, still scowling. The junior seemed relieved at the least, hurrying past him without so much as a glance. He looked over his shoulder as the two moved past the alley without so much as even looking into it. ’Ah, frustration.’ Smiling to himself, he walked ahead for a while before turning into a random alley. From there it was only a few twists and turns before he found himself back in the original alley, dropping to the asphalt and grinning at the sight of Catherine and the two finally relaxing.

“Wow…” he murmured to himself. He could understand looking out for others, but inviting three strangers she’d just met to her house? He wasn’t sure if he should be impressed or appalled by Catherine. “I’ve got my own apartment, but thanks for the offer anyways. If you give me the address I can bring by some chow.” The three of them didn’t look, or act, like they could wander the streets as freely as he could after all.
Heyo. Just reading over the IC.
Or I could actually read posts carefully.
Curious.
Interested.
Well, nice to see this is getting off the ground rather quickly.
Don't mind either.
“Pretty,” he commented as he stepped back, in part to avoid the falling features, but also because the other girl didn’t seem to like his presence. It was perhaps a bit disheartening, but Perry just smiled sheepishly as he bowed his head just slightly towards the pair. “It seems like I’ve stepped on some toes though. Perry though, hope to see you two around.” With that and a small wave, he turned towards the cafeteria first while the two moved for the map nearby.

The cafeteria, like much of the kingdom, was far grander than anything Perry had ever seen. He fought and pushed down the urge to stop and stare in awe as he approached and entered the building. Had he not had stayed at a hotel before departing for Beacon, he might not have known what to do in the busy, almost chaotic, setting. As it was though, he simply filed in line to wait his turn, taking off his scarf and folding it in the meanwhile. Progress wasn't exactly fast with at least dozens ahead of him, but he didn't mind it too terribly much. The lively and loud atmosphere was something different, though he figured it would wear at him rather quickly, but for now he wasn't too bothered with it.

Perry left the serving area quite happily with a food-filled tray, easily double what most others took. Partially because he actually did eat much more than people would have guessed, but also because he had taken a bit of almost everything. The food here was just simply so different from the more simplistic cuisine he was used to back home. He found himself a seat by an empty table near the walls and quickly claimed it. Though he was far from home, and the meal technically didn’t warrant it, Perry nevertheless murmured a quick word of thanks before he began to slowly eat.
