He had been on the walls of Gram to await the arrival of the latest airship, and defend the Academy in case such a situation came to be. He watched apprehensively as the faraway shape was harassed by dark shadows, biting his lip in irritation at being unable to do nothing. A relieved sigh was heard by those around him when the defense systems roared four times and burnt away the darkness harassing the newcomers to Gram. “Alright, there shouldn’t be any trouble now, but I want a few of you to stay on watch just in case.” The voice of their supervisor reached them and, to no one’s surprise, a number of individuals turned to Lian almost immediately. Nodding good naturedly, he turned around to glance at the land outside the Academy’s walls as others began to figure out who would be accompanying him for the duty.

Eventually, he and the others had been dismissed as the threat level was lowered and finally dropped. With a sigh as he stepped off the walls, he took a look around at the organized chaos before him. He was used to it he supposed, being one of the earlier arrivals to the Academy and thus having been around for the arrival of others. It was always like this when receiving newcomers, though it wasn’t as bad as the mad scramble would have implied. Weaving his way around people that made their way to places they had to be, he figured checking out the new arrivals wouldn’t be a bad idea.

“Shit.” He felt the hand wrap around his leg and try and pull him to the ground. Planting his other foot firmly to keep his balance, Alex tried to pull his caught leg free while swinging his crowbar down at the Walker that had eluded his notice.

Nodding in understanding, Alex muttered, “Hopefully,” before he continued onto the street. Dropping the Walker took little effort for him, the creature slumping to the ground after he caved in its skull. Given its condition, Alex didn’t bother with trying to loot it for now. He doubt anything it carried was worth scrounging through the rotting corpse, but he might consider coming back after the rifle lady was safe. Given the lack of gunfire after the initial three, he could only assume she had taken care of the immediate threats. Moving ahead towards the alley on the street, he kept his eyes peeled for any other Walkers that might have been hidden behind cars or the like.

Renose said And yep, you are correct. These enemies are not just basic mooks, they all have intelligence of some kind and can adjust their strategies accordingly based upon what they are capable of. Its much more real world than most VRMMOs where attack patterns can become predictable.

Oh boy. Would raids, at least in the sense of common MMOs, even exist then for GQO? I can't imagine raid bosses, if they're intelligent, would simply sit in their chambers/rooms and wait for the raid groups to wipe them out one by one.

Or would it be much more dynamic, with various raid groups spreading through a raid area at once to distract every boss and prevent them from reaching one another and joining forces?

Essentially GQO is real-life just in a different setting?
