Current And maybe most people don't like getting a single line back in response to a few paragraphs? Like whatever floats your boat, but there's a reason Free exists.

If the man's is asking for a ban, might as well give it to him. Good riddance.

I meant to get a little conversation going while we were waiting for more players, so I picked an obvious subject.

Ah. Well I suppose it would involve it would depend on what other characters we can get. If there are some Faeries, starting on the school grounds would allow everyone a chance to interact with one another.

If it turns out we're going to be playing our own Faeries though, then starting off on the transport would work best? Even with a few other PC Faeries it would still be fine, with the two separate groups perhpas talking of what to expect, etc.

You're right about the risk, in this volatile environment it wouldn't be advisable for them to organize a shadehunt for him.

However, I still think they would put some discreet efforts to getting him out of the city (assuming they are aware of what Shades are) so his presence doesn't negatively reflect on the Circle in the event that the Order discovers him. It would be easy to propagandize his presence as proof of the Circle's corruption, commoners don't need to understand what Shade's are with the amount of support they've been showing the Paladins. All they would have to do is connect it to necromancy, and the Circle would lose what little favor it still has.

Quite the conundrum.

He'd be able to understand if they approached him for that reason at the least, and while he wouldn't necessarily abandon his pursuit of these rumors he would be convinced to be more subtle about it. Ditching the armor to use his spirit form and operating at night when, I assume, it would be almost impossible to spot him would be viable options.

Alternatively he'll find a more suitable shell to take on. There's probably a corpse in good enough condition somewhere in the city for him to possess, more so if it's an animal's.

Rat with daggers. Heh...

Excellent.

So how are we starting out? Just we get off the transport, or have we already seen the school grounds for a while, or something else?

I imagine we're waiting for more players first.

I like the grounds of your assumption, but I do have a concern. These Paladins don't seem to be too level headed when it comes to dealing with magic, so while the leadership would come to your conclusion, would grunts ask questions once they realized that Adune was a Shade?

Edit: And the mages try to seal him, depending on his disposition. If Brand used the Wheel of Time as inspiration for the Ivory Tower I can say I am quite familiar with how they typically operate, and trapping him would likely be their first thought. Partially for study, and partially because the Paladin's could easily use the presence of a Shade as "proof" of the mage's "corruption". Especially assuming that Brand based the Paladin's on the Children of the Light from the Wheel of TIme.

Well, if Brand could clarify exactly how well known Shades are that would be helpful. I can't see them being known to commoners at all besides for passing legends and rumors like Solomon. Even to those higher up or better 'educated', I see Shades still being objects of mystery. There's not really a way for anyone to learn of them save for actually finding a Shade and sitting down to talk with it, or finding an experienced enough Necromancer that would have learned about the collateral of the process.

If it's only a handful of Paladins that try to deal with him, I can't see them being able to corner Adune all that easily. While he might be as obscure as a lighthouse, he's probably a fair deal more agile than them with the application of magic. He can get to the rooftops without issue thanks to Summoning and Alchemy will reduce his shell's weight.

Should things escalate though, like one group fails to capture him and tells of his presence to others which results in a man/shadehunt. Well like Brand said, he'll simply body hop or dematerialize. He's not beyond simply dropping possession of his armor in some obscure location and wandering about as a Shade, until he has a need to use a physical body again. His main purpose in Oslo is merely to observe the rumors of a clash between the Order and Circle. Doing that would also deal with the problem of Mages since he's then immune to most of their magic.

And while the possibility of gaining a research piece might be valuable, it doesn't seem that important with the possibility of being driven out is pending. It would involve traversing a city filled with people who are just looking for a reason to 'arrest' them or worse, to try and capture a Shade, and then get back to safety with Shade in tow without attracting the Paladin's attention. They'd probably also need to be a fairly skilled individual to attempt this, which makes them all the more valuable, and they would likely be accompanied by Guardians. You're more familiar than me with what the Circle is based on, but unless they're of the mindset that researching/advancing magic is more important than anything, I can't see them taking the risk.
Actually, wait scrap that.

Not basically, but similar to Gandalfr runes from Zero no Tsukaima, minus the whole familiar part, if anyone is familiar with that.

How does one integrate the waste product of a necromantic ritual into city life?

He's just arrived at Oslo, he doesn't really need to integrate into the city, just stick around long enough.

Is he going to be obvious? Fairly, but most people would likely just try to keep their distance as I'm pretty sure the common folk won't want to try and tangle with something that's approaching seven feet and covered in metal, and they probably wouldn't know what a Shade is. The biggest opposition he's likely to find would be either the Order or Circle, and it's unlikely that either would try too hard to alienate him if they knew his true nature.

If you're planning or preparing for something big to go down, you probably don't want is to piss something off that's impossible to get rid of. He, as long as he sticks to his own business and he will for the most part, can come afterwards albeit they'll probably try and monitor him.

Feel free to shoot my assumptions out of the sky.
Judging by the Talonflame’s arrival Chau guessed the man it partnered with would not be making it on a time, a guess that was made correct by Zokura shortly after she retrieved its message. With another attendee accounted for, there were only a few other individuals the group was waiting on. Frankly, the Head expected at least another to show up late as she usually did, and unsurprisingly, the meeting only began after Ana finally walked through the doors to take her seat. With all members in attendance, Chau gave the door several sharp raps to signal to the guards outside before he finally moved to take his seat at the table. He did crack a small smile at Adelaide’s appearance and motioned for the youngest to take care of her hair as he approached the table; only her whims dictated whether she would catch the motion and, even then, listen.

Unlike some of the others, Chau did have an idea of what Zokura spoke of. While he hadn’t managed to set his own eyes on the encroaching darkness like the princess had, it was enough to know his thoughts on the matter hadn’t been unwarranted. When the princess finally finished with her speech, Chau made to speak, but Claire’s voice rang out first. After she finished, he stood up with a nod in her direction before turning to face those at the table.

“As Claire has stated, the most important thing right now is to find out what we are dealing with. In all likelihood, the task will be your’s Sorren, but the decision will be made tomorrow. That aside if this darkness is as Princess Zokura has described, I suspect the heaviest burdens will fall on our companions and partners. To that end, I expect every one of you,” turning to each member of the Royal Guard present, “to push them. We must be ready should things turn for the worst. I would also ask for Ser Zion and Adomorn,” nodding at the two men respectively, “to scour for any piece of information that may relate to this. Even legends, which are mainly the works of Legendaries, may be of use.” With all that said and done, he gave another nod to the room as a whole before he sat down. While he had intended to say something to Adelaide, he trusted that what Zokura had said would be enough for the young lady. If not? Well, then she would be deserving of a few harsh, but true, words.

The equation for speed is S=DXT(Speed=distanceXtime) so that flipped would be Time=speed Divided by distance. So in laymans(Non scientific) terms that would mean that time control would be posible to decrease time but it would take a large amount of speed to slow time down even a little bit.

Magic.

So both our shades are not a big fan of the people who summoned them and I was wondering what exactly makes any shade serve the necromancer as opposed to running away?

Shades aren't summoned to the necromancer, they're more of collateral damage and just punted back to the world of the living wherever. Basically, when the Necromancer passes through the second gate (Scorpion) a soul is hurled out so they can continue on; in the Necromancy hider I assume that's the ghastly scream of a woman. The souls carried back by Necromancers aren't Shades, but something else entirely.

And Adune is neutral towards the necromancer that brought him back. Depending on the exact nature of them, he might have even ignored them a few years ago.
I suppose I should make sure, but does the Ritual of Sealing have any additional effects on Shades, or would it simply nullify their ability to use magic per usual?

Guess I'll throw Adune into a city full of 'Paladins' for the fun times though.
