For years the Aldmeri Dominion has brooded, building armies and growing all the more powerful, watching in jubilant silence as the Empire strains to carry it's own weight. Now the time has come for the Dominion to strike, like a predator to a crippled beast, the might of the Aldmeri seems irrefutable. This war is sure to see the end of the Imperial Legion and a bleak future for the Empire's denziens.
Or so they say.

4E 201 - Alduin falls to the hand of the Dragonborn.
4E 202 - The Civil war ends, the Imperial Empire gaining a shaky grip on Skyrim.
4E 205 - The Dragonborn vanishes, supposedly journeying out of Tamriel.
4E 207 - Aldmeri Dominion rally armies on the borders of Cyrodiil and Elsweyr, supossedly having completely conquered Valenwood.
4E 207 - Aldmeri Dominion begin to assault Elsweyr, who refuse to join them.
4E 208 - The White Gold Concordat is broken and the Imperial Empire declares war on the Aldmeri Dominion.
4E 208 - Commander of Elsweyr's armies is slain in battle.
4E 209 - Elsweyr begins to fight for the Aldmeri, seemingly having joined the Dominion.
4E 209 - Aldmeri Dominion allies with Hammerfell.
4E 210 - Prince Rathelmar is exiled due to a disagreement over the war with the Altmer king.
4E 210 - Aldmeri Dominion begins it's invasion of the Imperial territories.
4E 211 - Full scale war. Present day.

You are a hero of Tamriel. Wherever you come from, whoever you are, there is something special about you, and you know it. Perhaps you are a master of the sword, an expert marksman, or maybe you have some skills in the art of magic. Either way, you, without a doubt, would prove a threatening foe to any man on the battlefield. You are perhaps concerned with the war that has ticked on now for three years - you may have been out on the front lines, or you may have tried to ignore it completely, but now that full scale war has ensued and your life is in danger, there is no way to ignore it. Though it seems like it is only a matter of time before the Aldmeri obliterates the Empire, there appears to be one way to prevent the war and the huge amount of deaths it would cause - Rathelmar, exiled Prince of the Aldmeri Dominion, brother of the King, has contacted you as well as several other gifted warriors across Tamriel and given you a mission: Kill his brother, the King. He, being the next in line to the throne, promises to stop the war if he comes to power, meaning there is a single hurdle in the way of peace in Tamriel - death to the King of the Altmer - though killing the elusive ruler will prove most challenging for even the most formidable of groups.

Why is the Dominion attacking one of its own client-states?

I'm quite interested in this, but I just wanted to point out that before the events of Skyrim. Elsweyr was considered part of the Dominion, and even fought on their side. While Hammerfell became it's own nation after the White-Gold Concordat. The Dominion, now in 'legal' control of Hammerfell due to the WGC, ends up with Hammerfell fighting the Thalmor to bloody standstill which results in the Dominion in retreating from Hammerfell. Making the Redguards the only people in Tamriel to have successfully beaten the Dominion.

Thats not to say what you've got can't work, Hammerfell is a nation that only just recovered from Thalmor occupation and a nasty civil war, while Elsweyr could easily have decided to jump ship.

I don't think it'd really be 'easy.' Ever since the Thalmor at least said that they brought back the moons, the Khajiit have been more than willing to bend knee to the Dominion, since the moons are very important to their people both culturally and biologically. I think it'd take a lot to make the Khajiit spiteful to the Thalmor.

I have questions: Are we using Skyrim's spells and star sign effects? Also, do the Thieves' and Mages Guild, Companions, and all the other factions exist still? Do we use the equipment and items purely from vanilla Skyrim? Will dragons still exist and come and pillage villages? Will we have any interaction with Daedric Lords or any of the gods at all?

Well, I can't answer all your questions (as I'm not the gm) but the Mages Guild was disbanded after the Oblivion Crisis and split off into the Synod and the College of Whispers, respectively. I don't think we're limited on equipment since this is taking place in all the realms, since the Thalmor are taking over Valenwood, Elseweyr, and allying with Hammerfell.

Ah, that would make sense. Also, have any of you gotten a reply from the thread starter about your character sheets?

I suppose that's true, the Khajiit are pretty firmly in the Thalmor's pocket.
