Unless there are walls in the way. Apparently those are my army's Kryptonite. When they catch a glimpse of a wall they completely forget their training and go from a respectable, capable and competent military force, to a bunch of headless chickens with no sense of direction.

Seriously, it bugs me that they 'got lost' at Peking. I would have preferred almost anything else. "They got pinned down.", "Being a small force, they played a supportive role alongside the Germans.", "The Austrians eventually got through their gate, but the small force found itself overwhelmed by the sprawling city on the other side and failed to locate their objective." or hell.. even "Having encountered a lot of resistance, the small Austrian force was the last through the gates, having pushed through only after the pressure was taken off of them by other contingents on the other side of the walls."

But noep. "They got lost." It sounds like they're a bunch of incompetent morons, which they most definitely aren't. I feel like whoever wrote the update read the Wikipedia page and wrote down everyone's role based on RL, but since he didn't find anything about Austria in the article, he decided to just throw Austria under the buss with a simple "They got lost."

I ain't mad though. Really, I AIN'T MAD. Just sad.

*cries*

I thought his Italians were just having trouble grasping the concept of trains, or something like that.

Also: I hope long orders aren't an issue. My national focus order is about five paragraphs long. Hopefully you guys like it when people are specific, 'cause I felt I had to be in-depth with what I wanted.

Five paragraphs?? That IS long. We had a limit of four sentences in Dutch's last RP. Made for some VERY long sentences.

Oh boy. I expect Dutch will ask me to cut back then. A lot of it is really just a bunch of filler, but still. The rest of the orders are single paragraphs though.

EDIT: I trimmed down the paragraphs a bit.

I have a hard time keeping my orders short too - and most of the time they're longer than I'd like - especially since there are some really specific things which we, as players, feel are very important. The GM, on the other hand, isn't too bothered, so long as they can understand our order by the time they've got to the end of our essay :P

If your orders are too big I reserve the right to stop reading after a while and do what I think it says.

I like detailed orders, and from what I've seen MO does too, but five paragraphs for an order is a bit much.

I've shorten it to four, very thin "paragraphs". There is just no way to specify what I want with a single paragraph, or even two. It's not that much, honestly. You can read it all pretty quick, so it's not like I'm writing down a wall-of-text. Honestly, I think you'd be fine with it. Unless you have the attention span of a dead squirrel. But I doubt you do considering you took on the task of running this RP and haven't bailed on us yet.

You just wait! :P Final year, it's gonna be tough, and I may bail on very short notice. So let's enjoy this whilst we can.

Background information is all good, though.

Get yer asses to Vienna. Let's settle this like gentlemen.

By this I mean, let me know if you'd like to attend and I'll whip up a PM where we can all take turns speaking on behalf of our country. We can throw in some neutral countries if you want. The point is to settle the matter in an organized and diplomatic fashion.

Well, it seems something has come out of it so far. Though in the mean time I am wondering where some of our other players are so far since there hasn't been any sign of them. Namely; France, Italy, Turks, and Belgian Waffles.

Running this game takes up a lot of my time. Time I'm afraid I won't have as the year progresses. Currently, I'm considering stopping this game and instead run something that requires less of my time. Not only does this work in the interest of my schedule, but it's better than doing it at the last moment when we're invested more in the game, maybe even in the middle of a war. What do you say?

If you don't think you'll be able to have the time to effectively GM this as the year goes on it may be best to just put this aside before the ball really gets rolling.
