A person with a sharp appearance, Jesse is tall, slim, and lanky. His skin is dark, face flecked with freckles, and is shaped more like a stick than a woman or man. They have a thin face, close-cropped black hair, and dull gray eyes which always seem to have a sleepy feel to them. With such a well sculpted face and body, it might be obvious that she has a very natural female fatale air to her, yet despite her slender body, he is unfit and surprisingly weak, often needing to have a cool down period after psychical movement. Jesse was born into a middle-class, hard working family on a snowy January night in the restless city of New York. Her life growing up was simple enough; she would play with her dolls while her parents worked, go to school and work twice as hard as any other kid to stay afloat, and constantly question her reason of living and her body. Pretty much normal for a gender-confused child. Once their brother was born, they suddenly found a place in the world, and that was protecting this small bundle of joy. She would defend him in school, breaking up fights with her own fists, and despite her bother's constant annoying teasing, Jesse loved him dearly. Family is extremely important to him.
In high school, she was confused. Jesse definitely knew that they were not female, even if her body begged to differ, and after a few internet searches she began to realize her own orientation. Agender, or, the lack of gender. Realizing this about himself suddenly made the dysphoria they had felt in her past begin to melt away.
Jesse was obviously a smart cookie, especially in biology and environmental sciences. He aspired to be a forensics scientist, though, and wished to be of help to people in whatever way they can be. With her impressive grades in the sciences and math, she managed to get into a relatively good college in Atlanta. While leaving her family behind was rather upsetting, they do like their new found freedom.
She easily befriended her new roommate, Debra Jones, who found it as easy to get used to their lack of gender. College was simple as well, since Jesse was such a try hard when it came to studying.
He manages to sleep around a bit throughout their time in college, never really can hold down a relationship though. Then again, Jesse seems to believe that dating was a distraction for the bigger picture in life, which would be maintaining a perfect picture as a notable and impressive scientist. Still, sex wasn't a bad thing per say, and it helped with her stress.
Woke up on the day the world ended believing she was late for a biology quiz.

It wasn't unnatural for a college student to stay up passed two. With countless papers to write, parties to have, drugs to take, and booze to chug, it would only make sense for all of them to wander the night in a sleepless stupor, or drill away at their dorm desks as music pounds from above or below. Jesse was no exception. She was currently perched on her desk's stool-like chair, toes beating against the shining metal rhythmically as her eyes traced the lines of a large textbook with her only source of light being the neon-pink covered lamp on the right side of her desk.
The rest of the room was pitch black and silent, save for the moments where her roommate, Debra, would shift lazily around in her bed, causing the blankets and sheets to stir in a quick symphony of fabric-on-fabric. Jesse, however, couldn't hear that anyway, as on her head a pair of black and red headphones shielded her ears from any annoyances that could play during the night, instead pumping a familiar band into her brain quietly. Her eyes, which had begun to water and burn from the lack of sleep, continued to read the same stanza of her science textbook over and over again, thin lips pursing and clenching as she read it at least nine times before skipping over to the next paragraph.
"Nine times. Go over something nine times and you'll have it stored in your memory forever."
Her high school English teacher had said this once, many years ago, during one particular lecture on how to study vocabulary and key terms in whatever book they had been discussing. While the class had bored her to near death, Jesse had never really forgotten the older teach's study tips, and each time she got a passing grade on her plentiful tests Jesse would give a silent prayer to the (probably dead) Mrs. Miggs as thanks. A yawn breaks her concentration, and she opens her mouth and lets out a long sigh, raising her arms high to stretch both them and her back out until the buzz of her phone draws her attention to the glowing screen to her left. A few text messages had piled up while she had been lost in a sea of words and knowledge. She scrolled lazily, ignoring the few unnamed messages from a few folks she had probably given numbers to while drunk, instead focusing on one in particular. The most recent one, from her lovely little bro, Kimbel. A smile pierced her chapped lips as she skimmed the message, and then laughter simmered in her throat.

After glancing back and forth between the desk and the window she finally stood, taking the headphones, which were currently playing a live version of S/C/A/R/E/C/R/O/W, off in one swift motion before tip-toeing over to the window. A finger slipped between the dark fabric, and very slowly she pulled it open, keeping one eye on her roommates bed before finally staring off into the Atlanta night.
The moon was waning beautifully, a crescent line in the blue-black sky that allowed the ample amount of light to shine down on the dew-coated grass below. It was faintly hidden behind the far trees and sky scrapers of the city, and the stars were hiding behind the glow of the nightlife. Below, old, black lamps skipped across the green campus lawn and circled around the limestone path, which was devoid of any moving thing. Kudzu draped across the distant walls of the university buildings, devouring the faded brick in their viney hold slowly but surely. The silence of her room was somewhat disrupted by the honks and growls of distant cars and the boom of club music from the party that was probably just down the street, but those were normal noises. Normal things. There was calmness in normalcy, serenity, a feeling that you know this and will be okay. Despite the stress she had accumulated from the aspect that she had a major quiz tomorrow, right now, she was calm and happy. A smile was planted on her dark lips, and her eyes were creased with lines of cheerfulness, but it all faded when the familiar sound of a buzz and a groan pulled her from her thoughts.
Debra had sat up suddenly, brown eyes already wide open as she scanned whatever message she had been sent just a few seconds ago. Jesse slowly pulled away from the window and turned, a sheepish smile forming as she whispered a soft 'good morning'. The red-haired roommate glanced up momentarily, nodded, and then went back to her phone, face growing more and more agitated with each line she read until she finally threw it lazily at her feet, huffing with annoyance.
"What's up, Deb? Job issues?" Jesse asked, slowly walking back over to sit on her own bed as Debra threw the covers (and her phone) to the side before standing up, hands already working to tame the messy mane above her head,
"Yes, obviously, job issues. Who else calls me at three in the morning besides you, Jess?" She sighed, finally just tying up her bed head into a high ponytail before she began to dress herself in the same garb she wore every night to her job as a waitress at a twenty-four hour sports bar and club.
"They need me to come in, Jack says they're really packed for some reason and they need all the hands they can get. I'll be back around six or seven maybe." The light flicked on for a moment, allowing Debra to check her face in the mirror beside her bed before she turned to the exit, smirking at Jess, "get some sleep, kitten. If I come back and find you still staring at that textbook I'll slap you so hard you'll see stars. Night!" And then she was gone, sprinting down the dormitory hall at the speed of light. Jesse blinked at the lights above, wincing as their afterimages filled her eyes for a moment with blue dots, yawned once more, then slowly slipped towards the front of the room, flicking off the blaring bulbs once more.
Her gray eyes rose to stare at the desk, where her brain begged her to go and sit and study for at least two more hours, but her body was screaming from sleep deprivation, and instead she slumped back down into the warmth of the mattress. As soon as her head hit the pillow she was gone, mind swallowed by the darkness of sleep. Her dreams would be a mess of calculations and theories, and she would not wake to anything. Not even the familiar scream which sounded four hours later, just below their window.

I mean, she seems like a nice lady, but god she is sooo timid when explaining things, and explains the bare minimum. Though it's worth noting that our first exam thus far had everything she taught us, and nothing she never reviewed. But she is just so...spacey and scared looking? Like you could yell at her and she wouldn't assert her authority. Or like she's afraid to explain some of the stuff she's teaching.
Meh. Anyways, I'm off to add Jess to the character links on the front page. I'm working on a post, as well. I figure we could start, as we already have quite a large group. If we need more characters, I'll go people hunting.

I'm glad that amused you. XD I love cracking jokes and attempting to be an ass. I told my father something about me being a snarky douche and he laughed and was pretty much like, "Lolno, go play your vidya games. God, kids these days." I've been told I'm one of the nicest people by a lot of my friends. I just think I'm a little too subtle and maybe just a little too genuine, even in my sarcasm. ;_;
Anyway, how open are you to characters coming in a little later in the story? I understand if you don't, I just wanna make sure just in case inspiration strikes and it works well in driving the plot forward or adding a reasonable twist. :o Kinda like a Michonne incident or a Tyreese and Sasha (I luv Sasha so much <3) thing.

But yeah, all of the characters so far have made me reallllllyyyyy happy. Especially since I'm a bisexual WOC. I crave diversity, and many people, even if they are LGBT choose not to create characters that represent them in rp. Personally, I can see myself with a man or a women in my future ,and I wanted characters that represented me, which I have so rarely made in the past. Also, its iffy; if one out of every ten people you meet is LGBT then I feel like rps should have us more; we're pretty normal. And I don't blame straight people for not rping or writing about us. For some, it's hard to put themselves in the shoes of something they feel so alienated from, especially since the media implies same-sex relationships are so vastly different from "normal" relationships, and that bisexual women are sexual fiends that prey on innocent virgin girls and "turn them".
It's also sad that many LGBT people chose to rp a character of the opposite gender, so the character is straight, and the rper can have a romantic interest of their gender preference, just to avoid being judged. I've found, recently, if at least one brave person takes the step to introduce an LGBT character, then other people will shyly join in. The fact that out of those of you who applied, many of you chose to go with characters who are things other than straight, makes me super happy. It also makes me happy people chose to go with straight characters. Like, yassssss, let's represent the real, real, world here. Diversity. But anyway, I'm ecstatic.
On another note, at this point if you asked me, I'm really craving a girlfriend right now; went to a restaurant today, hot, hot, hot, hot waitress, and I kept giving her the eye. God, she was a hottie. And at one point, I think she realized I was checking her out, and kept looking back to see. Such a hottie.
Okay, but enough of that. I decided to play it safe and study. Midterm went alright. I'm going to write up a post now. We can get started. Also to answer your question Sixsmith, I think when we've got a nice established group, I'll be open to more characters from our present rpers. It would be weird if we didn't introduce new faces at some point. And eventually, we'll open back up to new rpers.

Also, its iffy; if one out of every ten people you meet is LGBT then I feel like rps should have us more; we're pretty normal. And I don't blame straight people for not rping or writing about us. For some, it's hard to put themselves in the shoes of something they feel so alienated from, especially since the media implies same-sex relationships are so vastly different from "normal" relationships, and that bisexual women are sexual fiends that prey on innocent virgin girls and "turn them". It's also sad that many LGBT people chose to rp a character of the opposite gender, so the character is straight, and the rper can have a romantic interest of their gender preference, just to avoid being judged. I've found, recently, if at least one brave person takes the step to introduce an LGBT character, then other people will shyly join in. The fact that out of those of you who applied, many of you chose to go with characters who are things other than straight, makes me super happy. It also makes me happy people chose to go with straight characters. Like, yassssss, let's represent the , , world here. . But anyway, I'm ecstatic.On another note, at this point if you asked me, I'm craving a girlfriend right now; went to a restaurant today, hot, hot, hot, waitress, and I kept giving her the eye. God, she was a hottie. And at one point, I think she realized I was checking her out, and kept looking back to see. Such a hottie.Okay, but enough of that. I decided to play it safe and study. Midterm went alright. I'm going to write up a post now. We can get started. Also to answer your question Sixsmith, I think when we've got a nice established group, I'll be open to more characters from our present rpers. It would be weird if we didn't introduce new faces at some point. And eventually, we'll open back up to new rpers.
Yeah, I've started to see a lot, a lot more LGBT characters in RPs that I've joined in and I think I instigate it sometimes because I almost always have at least one LGBT character that I play and it's always a gay male 'cause I myself am a gay male and that's my preference when I write. Though I diverge a lot and I like playing badass ladies; I've yet to try a hand at a bisexual/pan or lesbian lady. But that's probably because I'm not attracted to ladies myself and aren't positive I'll have any interest in any romance femslash romance that blossoms forth, sadly.
As well, I don't usually like playing females in straight romances just because of my sexuality, so a lot of my females are asexual, lol. I mean, I understand what that means, but I also understand that a lot of people who go looking for romance in group RPs are usually looking for the sex part of that romance. >_> I actually don't think I'd mind an asexual lady who prefers to romance women in a non-sexual, actually romantic romance. The kind where it's a lot of the emotional intimacy and none of the physical sexy time acts.
And when I feel like RPing some side plot romance in a roleplay I'm in but don't have anyone to partake in that romance, then I actually pair my characters off together. It gives me practice in character development both dependent on a partner, as well as working on individual character development and focusing on relationships and how they work in stories. I think RPguild, unless you drift off into the kinkier side of the 1x1 section has a lot of its romance, should they happen in an RP, be one of those quick look-at-the-person-you-made-your-character-to-romance-and-hop-to-it-like-fucking-bunnies, but aside from that they're very straightforward, typical romances that don't necessarily delve into how such relationships can work in one way or another. If you all understand where I'm getting at. Putting all of that in my own hands allows me to dissect the relationship a lot better without having any random variables that constitute most RPs and relationship between player characters. It gives me a better grasp on how certain relationships work and lets me pace it a lot better in the story (which often means that the characters I've decided will do the smoochies don't actually get together because the RP dies before then...). And it also lets me play out some romance fantasies (the nonsexual kind) out on paper without thinking how the other person feels about it or whether he/she is enjoying how the relationship is turning out or how slow I intend to take it.
I don't know why I'm rambling about this, but it interests me a lot. I like delving into the minds of characters, mainly relationships between other characters, whether platonic, romantic, or other. I enjoy it a lot and I have absolutely no idea why. Maybe something to do with psychology or philosophy, or something... I mean, I intend to switch my major to something in either subject as soon as I get enough money to jump back into school. I've been refraining from taking out any student loans and I honestly have no idea why I didn't apply for any scholarships during high school... probably something to do with low self-esteem and the fact that I'm pretty sure I'm anything but a leader or super-citizen like a shit ton of my classmates were. >_> I was the book nerd who was quiet for like 2 years and turned out to be extremely hilarious, but never the person do actively partake in a lot of public things 'cause he was an introvert and preferred the solace of his room, video games, a lot of movies, and some nice books.
Oh, and I also fully intend to introduce at least one new face into our motley crew! But, only as soon as it's relevant to the plot and when you say it'll be a-okay. :o

I haven't seen many queer characters in RPguild role plays honestly, and those I have seen eventually became rather good friends of mine personally. I wrote Jesse with a certain idea in mind: POC LGBT woman. However, I have recently been feeling a bit anxious about my gender (or fluidness of said gender), which bore Jess' lack of it. I've needed more characters I can relate to, honestly. As for everyone else: I am shocked. I am happy. This is a fantastic group with a fantastic ability to write characters realistically and well. Can't wait to start writing with you all

I made a very stunted post, but hopefully it's introductory enough. I'll be pressed for time, since I'm still studying for midterms and writing a small paper.
Just so everyone knows, we'll all be meeting at Emory University. Then our characters will travel to the more urban area of Atlanta, and from there, we'll see how things go.

Heyo, here's one last character that I've been meaning to pump out. I'm just throwing her out there because she's kinda a side-character who happens to be Aldous' traveling companion and sister. :o If that's okay.
NAME: Grace T. Gallagher
AGE: 26
PERSONALITY:
A veritable ball of sunshine, Grace flows through life as if nothing could harm her, a smile on her face and a laugh waiting in her eyes. Optimistic to a fault, Grace is unable to perceive the worst in people, much the opposite of her brother who fails to see the good. They're an odd pair, fitting together like a puzzle. At least, that's what was supposed to happen, except a few pieces got lost along the way, edges were dented and bent and a few notches were cut or torn. They fit together in theory, but age and time and circumstance wore that down like rock in white water. But, Grace keeps a smile on her face and whatever semblance of happiness a light in her life, otherwise she'd have absolutely nothing to live for. If she couldn't believe there was still good out in the world, she'd have remained the husk she was in the hospital so many years ago, contempt and hateful. The thought scares her, though, pushes her in a corner until she's unable to fight back and she succumbs for but a few seconds before putting on her front, her bright smile and jittery attitude.
To excuse this, she goes about the world just a tad twisted, manipulative to a fault and hiding motives and reasons behind more motives and reasons until she can no longer recognize why she was doing anything. It helps that way, to make excuses until you yourself believe in the lies, and that's exactly what keeps her going. The fact that she helps people because it helps her because it lets her live with some kind of spark and reignites whatever need to feel useful, is something she's unwilling to share with the world. The fact that she needs this to keep living, to keep from drawing a gun to her head is something that wold likely get her thrown in an psychiatric ward and put on medication that would tear everything she was and is down to an emotionless nub. That frightens Grace more than the gun to her head, so she keeps whatever notion she has to herself and works in favors and debts to get that feeling of usefulness. She does things to help people, sure, but they can't know that, lest they think there's something sinister there that was never there in the first place. People often think there are things that are too good to be true and giving them what they want without anything in return doesn't often sit well with others, as she's found earlier in life. So, she gives them her motive, however ridiculous it sounds, and expects them to pay in full whenever she needs something done. And she almost always needs something done, if not seriously, then just to get it out of the way, to alleviate their worry and anxiety. It's a weird way to work and it's honed her manipulative skills to a T, not to mention that silver tongue she so loves to use.
She assists people and they give her whatever she wants, even if she just wants their gratitude and happiness. Though she knows that's often too good to be true.

Grace is good to go Sixsmith.
My sister had her friends over, and I was busy entertaining, but I've been freed up of time, and my paper has very little left (literally a very small paper). I do have to study, but I have an impulse to make my post bettersomehow, so I'm off to edit it a bit. The jest of it will stay the same however.
