Going to drop a line here, because I could see myself hanging out here.

Before a couple weeks ago I identified as a cis gay male, however recently I've been having A LOT of issues regarding my gender and recently have taken to calling myself a transwoman, though I'm not out yet outside of the internet. I've been having a lot of internal debate about it and it's been flaring up my anxiety which has been terrible. I don't know whether this is just something I'm going to get through or if this is going to be a permanent feeling so I've decided not to do anything rash until I really feel like my feelings are here to stay.

Anyway, that's all I have to say, I don't really know how to end this post so yeah...

Try to seek out trans women who are willing to listen and go ahead and ask them what they think! If you're an adult, you could probably head to a gay bar and find plenty of trans people who'd be happy to help anyone who's questioning. :)

Yo, for the sake of giving this thread a little CPR, is anyone here Catholic/Christian as well as LGBT? I remember before I knew about myself for sure (or at least that I wasn't straight :P) I would often ask the priests of my church and they always said that it was alright to be LGBT, you just couldn't act upon those "urges". Tragically, I'm assuming that's the most gentle mainstream opinion among the pious as far as Catholicism. Anyone hear differently?

Well, I think that this here thread needs another CPR. Anyways, I don't go to church as much as I used to; but my church allows anyone to come in.

Well, according to the Vatican (Catholic life handbook), homosexual marriage is prohibited. But Pope Francis said that we had to respect and accept everyone. Not sure if he meant LGBT Catholics too.

Being a straight Protestant, I refer to the Bible as my life handbook and it emphasizes that the union of man and woman was, is, and always will be the truly lawful form of matrimonial union. It also describes same-sex marriage as deplorable and immoral (if i remember correctly).

I've heard, from some people, that there are stories of people switching sexuality.

I'm actually just one of those 'relaxed' Catholic/Christians that don't really care whatever the hell other people say as long as they don't try to forcefully impose it on me or my loved ones. For me, what matters is I stay straight and that's it.

I am NOT anti-gay or anything of the sort. Just saying what my religion believes in.

I think that he wasn't talking about the LGBT Catholics (I could be wrong), but the media is making a big deal out of it.

This is sadly true, people who change to gay even known they called themselves bisexuals (which is why bisexuals are the most hated out of the LGBT+).

I get what you're getting at. It's like Bronies, I don't care if you watch the show, just don't shove it into anyone's face about it.

In my experience the casual Catholics, as in those who simply say they're Catholic but don't do anything such as pray, read the bible or go to Church tend to be fine with people being LGBT. Anyone who is part of a church though tends to go the whole "It's a sin" route.

From what I heard in a Pride Club last year, FckH8 also tends to hate anyone who identifies as anything other than Gay or Lesbian.

I actually go to church pretty much every Sunday. Of course, I myself am pansexual. I know a lot of devout Catholics (usually the teens and younger ones) who are okay with whoever. There's a little boy who altar serves who has two dads.

Yeah, FckH8 is shitty and I hope they go bankrupt. (They're not even non-profit, they are run by a T-shirt company.)

Bittersweet here (or you can call me Spencer). My mum told me when I was young to love everyone no matter what they are... I don't think she was expecting that I'd be pansexual.

Well, I've talked to some priests (I live in a fairly Catholic country) and they're pretty much only against the "marriage in church" part of the relationship and have nothing against homosexuals' civil marriage. *shrug* That's just their opinions though and I've also talked to some priests/other Catholics/Christians who are totally against the entire thing (one even attempted to exorcize a demon from me because she said questions like the ones I asked came from Satan himself).

As for FckH8, I didn't know they did that. Now I feel super sucky because some of the celebrities I look up to support FckH8.

I should clarify on the whole "Anyone in church says it's a sin" thing.
I didn't mean any Catholic who goes to Church becomes all vicious or afraid of LGBT people.
A lot of them in my area would probably still treat you and respect you as a person if you were LGBT and still wouldn't judge you too often.
But they would all hold firm in that it is a sin, and even if they still like you regardless, that your sexuality is wrong.

Im not christian, but I am a Muslim and am a part of a small Islamic community, so I have some experience with being LGBT in a religious community.

It's a rather odd split. The older, more conservative folk almost unanimously would be against such things, although its not uncommon for it to simply be an ignored fact that no one really brings up but keeps in the back of their minds. I am early in my transition, so I'm usually just grouped in with men, and I act the part as not to disrupt the order of things and cause conflict (though it always feels akward for me). I've found that younger people are usually much more accepting. A good friend of mine has always told me that in the end, my own personal relationship with god is much more important than what other people think of me.
