In the past we've just written it all out. But you write it with the same writing tips you'd use with a novel.

Of course, I read this really cool thing in RPGN about one GM writing entire fights out with all of the players in a live-synced document on a service like Google Drive.

Yeah, usually it's kind of a turn based thing. I.E. One player writes out an attack and the other reacts and/or makes some kind of counter attack. Of course, there are a lot of parties involved in this particular scuffle, so this could get interesting :p

If you're wondering just how much thought I put into that post, it took a lot of research on symbolism behind aches and flowers. Felt like Gareth needed an ulterior motive.

We can only hope thistle mean the plot turning a new leaf for our protagonists.

Should I wait for some guard or a member of the Order to confront the group or continue their entry into the castle by directing them to the great hall?

I'll say go to the great hall, there isn't much speaking for where the order's at right now but it's a place where either could conceivably be.
