@Rae Zer
What about people like me with never ever take anything artificially created when they get sick and let my body handle it with the help of rest and soup and tea? I mean, I get better in maybe a week when I get the flu, while still going to school and everything I need to be doing on the days that I'm not vomiting.

Letting your body handle it is great. Your body increases its resistance to certain strains of disease by handling them by themselves. But, if it is influenza you'd have to be careful especially during winter seasons. The cold of winter can make the flu worse and while your body may grow to be immune to one strain, another strain'll come along which your body doesn't have immunity to. Thus, you'd have to go through the process nearly every year. In an apocalypse like we have in this roleplay, vomiting can be a very bad thing even if it doesn't seem as such. Vomiting forces up a mixture of bile and whatever has recently gone in you out of your body. The bile is not fun to deal with and you don't want to lose a limited amount of supplies even if it is only over a week. Even the most minor of viruses and bacteria can cause serious trouble without modern amenities.

And that, is exactly where another little bit of common sense comes in. I know most people aren't like me but I only throw up one every five years if that because I'm very good at not letting myself get sick even though I live in a shitty part of town. And don't even bring up the cold, I live in Canada and I'm sure y'all don't know cold and bad weather because it goes from 20 above to -40 in the span of twenty four hours sometimes in fall. You see, if you're sick and have a limited amount of supplies, one would know not to eat everything they can get their hands on and if it's winter you can melt the snow for fresh water so you'd have an almost unlimited amount of water for ten months - going by my winters here - so you could just as easily drink lukewarm or cold water and eat as little as possible while it passes. Sleep helps more than food when you're sick anyway.@Rae Zer

Ah yes but what about dry Pneumonia? Dry Pneumonia is where your lungs produce mucus cause you inhaled particulates of dry matter. Dry Pneumonia killed many people during the Dust Bowl period of time here in the US. The point is that even the weakest viral infection can damage your immune system enough to cause another viral to come in which is stronger than the last one. Though, anti-viral medicines also damage your immune system on their own so yeah. Without the medical supplies we have now, medical care would basically be set back to the 1800s maybe 1900s. Mortality rates would be through the roof after the first winter even if you are use to living in the cold. We are use to having all the food we could possibly ever want in the winter seasons now but when we can't produce said food what is going to happen? Most people'll die from lack of food rather than disease in the first year. It is the children born afterwards that would be the issue not our generation. They would have trouble fighting off even the easiest disease we have now.

Never really pegged you as a pessimist. You seem more like an optimist to me. Then again, I am a pragmatist so neither really have much impact on me.

Edit: Alright now is the time to stop being a slacker. I'm gonna get work on a post.

@Inertia Because promises made to Stalin during the Second World War were not delivered on and it made Stalin paranoid and suspicious. The Americans in turn didn't enjoy what the Soviets did after the end of the war and their general policy of disliking Communism didn't help much either.

(Stalin asked and was promised a second front to open in 1942, he waited as more and more Russians died. Then he asked again in 1943, again the allies promised him a second front would be opened soon. More Russians died yet again, empty promises.) Some people even speculate that the allies did this on purpose to weaken both powers enough so that things would go more in their favour, yet Soviet Russia had some real ass kicking abilities.

Not counting Italy because it didn't really put much pressure on the Germans untill later. (D-Day in France.)

Edit: Stalin was already paranoid and suspicious, the allies just poured on top of that. But you can't blame him, look up Operation Unthinkable for an interesting read.

@lavexis I've hidden various references to games in the thread, including in the title. Dying Light isn't the only game reference in the title of the thread. But yes, I have. All though the only element that is fromDying Light is its name, and the air drops can be considered Dying Light material.

On another note. Pressure to post, sigh. I really don't feel like typing something up right now, had a long and busy day. I may push myself to get a round of random events out but I think my main post will come out tomorrow afternoon. (My time that is.)

No pressure to post from me. So far my juices for writing have dried up for today and I'm just waiting for somebody to post so I can get a feel on what would be a good way to continue the post I've written.

So I had my next post written up and ready but after reading through it once before posting it I have decided I didn't like in the slightest where the post was going. Things were going too well for my little survivor here and I had forgotten that I need to find reasons to push him into the big city to prompt a chance to encounter your characters.
