It was late afternoon and the cafe was almost barren of customers. The waitresses were practically sitting around, just dying for someone to come in. Their only patron was a tall man with raggedy clothes sitting by the window with a cup of tea sitting in front of him. Takumi was stirring a spoon in the small cup with only two fingers despite no sweetener sitting at the bottom and he had his chin cradled in the palm of his other hand. He was staring out the window and then back at the cup ever so frequently. Takumi came to this cafe every at the same time on the same day of the week and sat at the same table for no reason really. He just liked the quant atmosphere the cafe gave off.

Most of the time, he would order a cup of the cheapest tea and watch the people walk by outside. All sorts of people passed the cafe and Takumi would imagine scenarios in which these people have taken part in. Sometimes he would see couples walking together and come up with the story of how they met and fell in love. Other times he'd see children coming home from school and would think of what they learned that day. Whenever he saw people walking their dogs, however, he would grow uncomfortable. Just the fact that these dogs were chained up and forced to obey their owner's every command made him sick. Perhaps that was because he was more closely related to a canine than he was to a man.

Unlike other humans, Takumi had a secret. He was a werewolf who lived in the forest outside the city. Despite being a wolf, he loved traveling out of the safety of his cave to explore and embrace the culture of the humans. It was way more interesting than hunting for rabbits in the forest all day. But it was dangerous if anyone found out about his secret. That's why Takumi masks himself in a human disguise and only shifts into a wolf when he is back in the forest. Sometimes the man curses himself for being a wolf, as he can't live in the city and talk to humans without being hunted or killed. All he can do is sit in the empty cafe and drink his black, unsweetened tea in peace.

The quiet afternoon turned to rain and Kyomi found herself stuck in it, running down the sidewalk from the university and seeking shelter. She passed by a rather cute and cozy coffee shop that she had never really payed attention to before and went ahead and entered. The door let off a metallic cling as she opened the door and she glanced around seeing some of the employees lounging around on one of the tables, and only one patron, a man wearing rather beat up and old clothing stirring a pot of either coffee or tea. She smiled at one of the employees and ordered a nice sugary caramel flavored coffee and went to sit down near the man with a good view of the outside to watch the rain pour down. Kyomi loved the rain, found it very relaxing to just watch the droplets splash all over the ground and smell the sweet scent of the water vapor. She didn't waste all to much time watching the rain however, opening a window just a crack to let the rain breeze in along of course with the scent she loved to much. Combined with the coffee smell it was as close to heaven as she could get on earth.

She passed the time folding her legs into her body on the chair and sipped her coffee while taking out a book and turning it to the place she had marked and getting lost in the wonderful world of fiction. Kyomi was wearing a standard outfit for herself, a thigh-cut blue loose shirt and a matching blue blouse with black leggings. On her feet were brown sandals soaked a darker color from the little bit of water she got on them from the rain. As she continued to read she kept sneaking glances up at the man studying him throughout the various looks she stole. He was actually rather handsome and Kyomi found herself smiling to herself. She wasn't a very big relationship girl but she would be lying to herself if she said she didn't want to eventually find Mr. Right and have children. That was her main goal, she wanted children so very much even at her young age. She did a lot of volunteer work with kids, mainly in Middle School teaching and counseling at the YMCA during the summer and doing quite a bit of babysitting during college when she worked. She enjoyed doing what many consider a teenagers job and had a good relationship with most of the kids in town.

When it appeared the man was almost out of drink, Kyomi marked her place and decided to be sociable. After all it was raining and human contact was something that people said was a dying breed. She stood and made her way to his table and sat down with a wide smile, and slight blush on her face. She moved her hair out of her eyes and extended a hand. "Hi! I figured we might as well be sociable to each other during the rain hm? My name is Kyomi, Kyomi Smithens."

The rain was heavy enough to block Takumi from his people watching and he returned his gaze to his cup. Steam came fluttering out of the white mug and he gently picked it up with his large hands, taking a large sip before setting it back down. The cup was now almost empty and not a single ounce of steam left the mug. Despite being almost empty, the mug was still warm and he kept both hands on it, his palms heating up. He peacefully listened to the rain patter against the window and tried to make out the running figures outside, but all he could see were watery blobs trying to find shelter from the cold. The cafe was still dead silent, even with the rain. Takumi hated how quiet it was; he wished that it would stop raining so that he could somewhat hear the chatter coming from outside.

The silence didn't last for very long, as the bell attached to the door chimed and an employee that sat on one of the tables sprang up to her feet. Takumi's amber eyes slowly crept towards the door and he was surprised to see a fairly attractive woman standing there. He could smell her disgustingly damp clothes from his spot in the corner, but that didn't make her any less pretty. The man was excited to see a human enter the usually dead cafe, especially a woman of her stature. Takumi wasn't exactly a "ladies man" or someone who tended to flirt with other women, but he did admire them for what they were. Besides, how could he be with a human woman when he was a wolf? It just didn't work.

Takumi was caught by surprise when the woman sat near him and he immediately scrolled his eyes back towards his mug. Bending his head down, he dug himself in the mug and devoured the rest of the cheap black tea. Once the liquid was gone, the werewolf took a couple of sugar packets and ripped off the tops, pouring the sugar into his empty mug to make it seem like he was too busy for the woman. Before he could finish dumping the rest of the sugar, the woman was on the move from her table to his. The minute she plopped down with her caramel infested drink, Takumi froze. Having a human woman this close to him made him extremely uncomfortable and he kept his head inside his mug that was nearly half full of sugar.

When the woman spoke, the man lifted his head up from the mug and stared at her with emotionless amber eyes. Kyomi. A beautiful name for a beautiful woman. He clutched onto the handle of his mug and moved his eyes away from hers, "Takumi." he murmured.
