I lied by posting in the thread as if I wanted a general opinion, the only opinion I really care about right now is yours.

If you're not interested in making sure that other people are comfortable with your ideas and how they'll be interacting with them, why are you participating in an RP?

RP is a collaborative endeavour, not something that can be "won". If you'd rather just appeal to yourself, why not just write your own stories outside of an environment where your actions affect others?

See but this is where you guys initially misinterpreted this. His history clearly indicates that the powerful shit was in their past. If he wanted to win he'd have kept it in the present era of his history.

Remember, his AI commander and its tools are just "locked away", meaning he'd be holding the ability to pull them out at any time, for whatever contrived reason he wanted.

The issue wasn't so much as it was used in the past as it was that the stuff exists well into the present day, only locked away in a high-quality containment box or something.

I was legitimately answering your poll. I'm not out to rag on you if that's what you think.

You're going a really good job to make it seem like it.

I mean, big bad doom weapons aren't off the board. I didn't say your AI v. AI war era couldn't have used a system-buster, just that your current civilization couldn't.

Unlike what a lot of persons here seem to think, I'm not a power gaming douche, obviously doom weapons, like war, like diplomacy, like every single thing in a nation RP, are plot devices made not to win in the most hilarious and gayest fashions, but to further the plot. I understand that and I think all those that critic the 'Fairness' of mechanics should concentrate more on the story than on the gamey aspect of a NRP.

So, in that aspect, does this decision imply

1: Have the ability to but will never use it.
2: Had the technology to, but destroyed it. (Cheesy, but works)

"Has the capacity but won't use it" is a pretty flimsy justification.

And if he does then it's within reason to kick him out and reverse the effects, no? You seem to think he's dumb enough to believe he could get away with it.

I seriously have nothing to prove to you, because that even if I did and have the willingness to prove something to you, I'd have to demonstrate the point that I am not some dickwad 'Trying to win' other than by actually roleplaying to prove it.

Considering the quantity of NRP I get invited too and the numbers I did on the previous guild since I joined in 2008, I do not care for your doubts about my intents.

I stated that I roleplay from a narrative stand point, I can take as much as I dish and will gladly say that I find epic downfall and failure in my creation as much entertaining as I find their victory because if I didn't I'd be out of this business a long time. If you constantly refer to how 'Fair' it is for someone to have something, then you should just leave, because fairness implies that you think of this endavour as something with mechanics. It does not, it's not a computer game. If you think that I can just pull things out of my ass, then know that I do not and if I did, Asuras would just boot me out of the RP and he'd do well to do so.

I don't care about fairness, I just care about reasoning and sense.

For example, if I suddenly made Revelry possess the power to wipe out entire planets with one shot, wouldn't you call into question my reasoning behind implementing such a feature?

And, for the record, if I cared about fairness, I wouldn't be playing a 'tier 5' civ when the shadows of multiple tier 2s, 3s and one (or two ) possible tier 1 are currently casting themselves over the RP.

Putting all the 1upping and squabbling aside for a moment, could I ask the GM something? How exactly are Tier 5 civs going to interact with others? Will more advanced civs need to find us and meet us before we can interact with them? I'm thinking of playing Tier 5 but I don't want to be isolated for the vast majority of the roleplay.

Depending on the specifics of your idea, I'd be glad to do some stuff with you. The Nera work good as meddlers with young cultures, given their inspiration.

Unfortunately it is the case, to a degree. Tier 5 (possibly 4) civilizations will need the grace of a more advanced faction to happen upon them if they want any player-player interaction. That being said, I encourage such Tier 5 factions to ask for others to interact with them. Ultimately it's your decision what you choose to be, and from there your own proactivity.

I suspect if a Tier 5/4 is active enough in the RP (Particularly IC), it is essentially inevitable they will have first contact sooner or later.

The thing Tier 5/4's should be worrying about is not if they will get first contact, its if its friendly ^_^.

Ask the Space Ghosts for assistance as a Tier 4/5. Maybe they'll help you. They're known for being present Coast to Coast.

And god damn this thread blew up with pointless discussion.

edit- Oh, to be serious, it is distinctly possible the Unseen might happen across your civilization due to their mobile, constantly moving nature.

Can my nation be a tier 5 but it has enough tech to become a tier 4?

If they're a tier 5 and have the tech to be tier 4, why would they not be tier 4. Is your first post going to be the use of an FTL drive?

Well, my first post will be a test of an FTL drive and the results of a colony within the planet's moon.
