"Yosh, time for a nap!"

Vlad was proud of his power, it was destructive and powerful. If he was able to smash boulders with his fists, he could kill anyone with them. He put his hand on his chin, slowly caressing it. "Hmmm but the problem is my speed, I'm way too slow..." and he was right with that thought since it took him too much time to focus so much power into his fist. He needed some way to pin down his target before smashing them for a certain victory...

Before he could turn, he froze in motion. A immensely powerful presence suddenly appeared, giving off an incredibly powerful pressure. Vlad's arms were shaking, but it wasn't fear alone. It was also excitement, as he always had with vastly powerful opponents. But before he could do anything, he heard a voice, a deep serene voice echoing through his mind.

"So senseless"

Vlad quickly turned to where the voice possibly could come from but nothing was there, and before he could do anything else, something made him lose balance and start spinning, he saw two eyes, nothing else, drilled deep into his mind and a certain sentence kept being repeated over and over through his head.

"Strength comes from a challenge" "Strength comes from a challenge" "Strength comes from a challenge" "Strength comes from a challenge" "Strength comes from a challenge" "Strength comes from a challenge" "Strength comes from a challenge" "Strength comes from a challenge" "Strength comes from a challenge" "Strength comes from a challenge" "Strength comes from a challenge"

It felt as it took an eternity, Vlad's mind was spinning, lost into a vast vortex with the glaring eyes high up the sky. But it all actually happened in a blink of an eye and everything was gone. Vlad stared blankly into the depth of the trees, still lost deeply in thoughts and could hear feint steps from somewhere, but the sounds didn't reach him.

Brunhilde

Brunhilde was, at the time, too caught up in her annoyance to really pay attention to how she said what she said. It obviously didn't go over as well as it could have, what with the indignant mini-rant and all. Emi seemed a little bit upset at what she had to say, and immediately, guilt hammered her hard. Could've been worse, though. She didn't know exactly how she would've handled it if she'd managed to make Emi cry or something - that'd be really awful.

A sudden hug parked Brunhilde's train of thought right there. Shit. This was almost worse than just upsetting Emi, because now she was off-guard, no longer fired up, and beginning to feel bad about having all but shouted at the girl. She hugged Emi as tightly as she could (which, admittedly, wasn't much at Brunhilde's size).

"...sorry. I just really, really hate bei--feeling like a cripple."

Brunhilde released Emi from the hug after apologizing and returned to the ground, where she walked alongside Emi towards wherever they were going. Some short time later, the two entered a building rivaling the cafeteria's already impressive stature - except with a wealth of information and study sources rather than food. The sheer volume of info here was staggering, and she felt the immense weight of centuries of knowledge standing upon her. Emi spoke up.

"Why did you want to go into the library out of curiosity?"

Brunhilde couldn't remember, since she wasn't holding onto the journal herself. She quietly spoke to herself as she desperately tried to remember what it was she needed to do there, rather than answering Emi immediately.

"...Library... Right. Libraries have... Information? Studying... Study equipment... Books... books? Books. Oh. Right."

Why hadn't she checked the diary right off the bat? She took the book from Emi and flipped through the most recent pages, where the changelog written in shorthand on the left hand margin indicated that she had added a few things recently to the dossier pages. More page flipping, and the color yellow stood out amongst the white and black on the most recent entry to the diary's growing list of people. Emi's page was labeled 'Vitally Important - Do Not Misplace'. A reminder to prevent losing important information.

"...How to not misplace information..."

The gears turned over one by one. Clicking, sliding, grinding - and a little bit of smoking - as Brunhilde tried to dig for what had been lost. She didn't remember what she had gone there for in the first place, so she came up with a solution that seemed like something she would have wanted to do, and quickly wrote a reminder to write her damned task list down in great detail rather than leaving herself extremely poor quality hints. She spoke a little bit more audibly when she was convinced that she had figured it out.

"Backups. Right. It had to be for backing stuff up. I must've wanted to come here to back this stuff up. Now, which way is the media center..."

"Oh. My mistake." Chen blinked as he tried to recall what Aether was. He would probably get taught that later, now it wa time to get his room. Eria asked where they were going and Chen looked over at her with a smile. "Lobby of Dormitory 1. Mr. Hargor told me that over and over because he knew I would forget and wander around aimlessly forever if he didn't. Just follow me if you don't know the way." With that Chen got up and headed over to Dormitory 1 to grab his key.

"Lead the way Chen" Eria said with a smile as she followed behind him with her stuff in tow. Suddenly a thought popped into Eria's head, "Who am I going to be roomed with?" that thought set her mind racing with all the possibilities of her roommate "What if their a psycopath? or worst a neat-freak" she thought as they moved towards Dorm Building 1. As she navigated between other students she had to actually take a wider birth around some than others thanks to their larger masses of particles surrounding them because it actually distorted the air a lot for her when there was a large enough concentration, Especially if they were showing off.

Gus took a step closer and arched his eyebrow, staring at Vlad who was likewise just staring into the distance like a zombie. Poor guy must have friend his brain good with all the fire he was tossing. Or maybe he'd been hit too hard in the head. The big lad wasn't keen on crossing the small river and getting his shoes wet, a fact that did not slip his attention with Vlad was he was dirty and not wet. Instead of traversing the river and ruining his socks it seemed easier to go to the edge of the steam and pluck out a small smooth stone. The water was warmer than expected, a lot warmer, but ultimately of no importance. With a flick of his wrist the pebble flew straight and true to hit the boy lightly in the thigh, not hard but with enough force to maybe elicit a reaction.

"You feelin' alright man? Knew you needed to blow off some steam but you're challengin' the concept of relax out here.."

Headmaster looked over the tonfa Kano had given him, it very clearly radiating with the essence of it's former master. "Yes, it's definitely no duplicate." He said with certainty. "As for a letter, neither of us sent you a letter. Quite frankly, the both of us were startled that a new Kasai has come to Elemental Academy." He absentmindedly ran a hand over the tome strapped to his belt. "Now, we do have some things to discuss. So you may either come along with me now or later, it's really up to you." He turned started to walk towards his office regardless, he had much paperwork to complete so he didn't have time to wait on an answer and he could do paperwork while talking in his office. Of course, he could use a glass of fine scotch to settle his nerves on having a new Kasai back on the grounds. He was looking forward to seeing how she would turn out under Kano's tutelage.

Rinna glanced over at the second man calmly, and took a moment to observe his demeanor. Then she smiled sweetly.

"Why, I don't believe I ever uttered the word incompetent. I'm sure the staff her is highly skilled." She paused again, flinching visibly as one of her tonfa was removed without her permission.

"Really, the word I would be most likely to choose would be apathetic. That, or personality types that would engage in similar behavior, such as yourself."

Rinna had begun shaking now, and the gem set in the pommel of the removed tonfa, once clear and flawless, was flashing in clouded, turbulent shades of blue. Simply holding the weapon would make Kano aware of the energy being stored within. Rinna had manifested her powers as an adult, and as such, her body had no idea how to adapt or control it. Her ancestor's tonfa, once used to store similar amounts of power, were once again acting as a heat sink, greedily drinking up every shred of power her tiny frame put out.

As the headmaster called her along, she took off behind him like a shot, snatching up the tonfa and cradling it to her chest for a moment before slamming back into the empty sheath at her hip. She had no idea what they did, of course, but they had become a security blanket to the girl since the accident, as well as a constant connection to her past.

Emi

When Emi hugged Brunhilde it appeared some of her emotions also rose which revealed something about herself too. She probably wouldn't remember later so it was a nice thing to know about her. Emi shone a sweet smile at the girl hearing her bearings too.

"I understand sweety, everyone would hate it in that situation. But you should not fret about it. You survived untill now which shows you are capable of a lot. And with that I really mean Alot."

When Emi asked her question to why they even were in the library Brunhilde was panicking a little. Of course she did not remember but it was a good exercise to make her remember again. Maybe she could learn to remember again or learn how to keep memories. She gave the girl some time to think and waited patiently with a kind smile on her face as she muttered to herself uncontrollably.

Brunhilde snatched the book from Emi her hands to scan through it but after she still didn't come far. She hadn't wrote it down after all so perhaps they would never know. Well they could just read. When Emi wanted to take the book back from Brunhilde the small girl came with an answer. Emi stared at her for a few moments before taking the book back from her.

"Sound like you were out for that yea. Haven't heard you talk about studying or anything so that must be right. Right?"

Emi wrote a short sentence down on how she wanted to back up her book in the library and how nice the library looked quickly closing it again. She took Brunhilde's hand again and begun walking towards where the media center was suppose to be.

"Don't fret, I'll take you there."

It didn't take long before they arrived in the media center. It looked a little more modernized than the rest of the library. It was a place they could go onto the internet with computers and stuff but Emi didn't really care about that stuff. She just wanted to help Hildy out, that was all.

"You were gonna back up your stuff, want me to do it or do you wanna do it yourself?"

Brunhilde

Brunhilde looked around at the media center. Scanners, computers, printers, and the like were present, like they should be in any good library. A jar, half-full of various kinds of coins, was placed between the printers with a slot in the lid, labeled '$0.25 per color copy for non-Students'. One of the librarians was behind a counter overseeing the room, which apparently doubled as an Educational Resources Center for those still involved in 'normal' education.

"You were gonna back up your stuff, want me to do it or do you wanna do it yourself?"

"I'll check. It might take a few minutes though - I'm not really all that fast of a typist, I don't think."

Brunhilde seated herself at one of the computers that had been set up in the room and logged in under a guest account, then quickly wrote what all she needed to do on a tiny piece of scrap paper. All unnecessary files were set to be wiped on logout, so she wasn't too worried about security, and she pulled up an internet browser, which she used to access a few file storage sites. She tested out the only username and password she could remember, which apparently still worked, and she found herself staring at a popup stating that she had over twelve thousand unread emails in one of the account's affiliated services. Oops.

"...surprised that worked. Guess I'm doing the backup, then. I'll go ahead and email a copy of what I'm trying to back up to you, though, if you don't mind - that way we'll get the best of both worlds. The diary, please?"

She stood up and waited for Emi to pass her the diary, which she then checked for instructions. Thankfully, they were there. That day's journal entries were scanned and sent to the desktop of the PC she was using, followed by the dossier entries on both Emi and Avarius, because both were relevant. Might as well get everything from today backed up, since she didn't feel like forgetting who her teacher was in case something bad happened to the book itself. Three documents scanned successfully - and three documents uploaded to a small handful of file hosts. She queued up the color print job for three copies of Emi's page, and three black-and-white copies of Avarius's page and the journal entry. She would hand one copy of each to Emi, followed by stuffing the others into the diary so she could figure out where to stash them later.

"I think that should be everything... Anything else we need to do today?"

A woman with long red hair, crying, locked up, bruised. A small kid watching from the keyhole. A man yelling and yelling...

Vlad slowly started to go back to his senses. His mind was starting to fall back in the right places, and he slowly started to remember what happened exactly. Him training, using his fire on the boulders and the river, a deep voice and pressure out of nowhere, him being sent spinning and the most important of them all

"Strength comes from a challenge"

Those words were fixed into his brains, as if it was an answer he been longing for. While still being lost in thoughts, something or someone pushed him in the stomach, it didn't hurt but it did feel unpleasant. Vlad shook his head a few times and finally came back to his senses. He was still at the open place he arrived earlier but something was off. The destroyed boulders were back to how they looked like before Vlad came here. "What the?" Vlad thought baffled. But something else caught his attention, it was the presence of that fat man, the one in the cafeteria, standing across the river, asking him if he was alright.

"Wait how did he get here?? And why does he look so familiar?..."

Vlad looked at him for a few moments, and gave him a look of what the hell before finally opening his mouth. " I'm alright.. Just had some weird spastic moment" he said while stretching his arms as if they were sore from the training. " But the better question is, why the hell are you here and how did you find me??"

"Finding you wasn't that hard. You make a lot of smoke and sound when you, I assume," He gestured at his feet and the surrounding area, "from the lack of scorch marks you've just been breathing smoke or something."

Gus cleared his throat and lowered himself into a sitting position on the ground with his arms and legs crossed. A friendly smile and atmosphere. Vlad was obviously a very pretentious and violent youth but the big man wondered why exactly that was. Nobody ever screamed bloody murder at the slightest sign of disrespect right? Vlad did, but maybe that was his way of forcing himself into a corner. Without a way out he was forced to fight head on and overcome his own, Gus assumed, weaknesses. The problem was that the kid had no respect for anything but himself. Maybe he just needs someone to help him cool down sometimes, Gus mused.

"You were zoned right out when I got here. Like you'd seen a ghost or something. Anyways, I followed you out of the cafeteria when you bailed. I'm the one responsible for your uh.. head injury in class. Saw you on Madison and let my fists lead the way instead of words. Came to apologize and, seeing as you enjoy the same hobby as I do, maybe we could be sparring partners? The teachers around here hate destruction of property without cause. Accidents happen but they have areas students can go to train alone if classes don't appeal. What do you say, Vlad? If you're willing, I'll always answer your challenge."

Vlad's nose started to itch when he heard and processed the part of him saying that he was the one that hit him back in the class, rendering him unconscious. He didn't care about what else he was saying, all he wanted to do now was make him pay for that and his cheap victory over Vlad. How dare he?? Hit someone that didn't pay attention! Someone that had no idea he was there, a dirty cheap sneak attack. Vlad was getting angrier by the second, steam started appearing around him.

"You cheap m-motherfucker, do you t-think you can win fights cheaply like t-this???" he said with a voice trembling by how angry he was. The only thing between him and Vlad was the flowing river, but Vlad didn't care, he saw some stones sticking out in the water and with dexterity he jumped on them one by one to arrive at the other side. He looked down at the sitting fatty, hate shooting from his eyes. " Get up, so we can settle this..." he said, this time with a calm voice. "Unlike you I won't resort to cheap attacks and will fight you fairly."

Gus put a hand on the ground and lifted himself up to one knee before finally getting to his feet, dusting off the back of his pants. Despite the obvious difference in size, Vlad wasn't backing down. That kid had issues. Issues Gus would beat out of him or help the other boy work through. Gus stretched his own neck to either side with an audible snap before rolling his shoulders and cracking his knuckles.

"Didn't mean to cheap shot you. Saw someone in trouble and tried to help."

Gus pointed at the scorched sleeve where the burn marks had almost entirely disappeared.

"I'm also responsible for fixin' you back up. Got shooed away by the teacher before I could apologize." Both of his arms took a deep red hue as he channeled his element. Enhancing his already impressive strength to combat ready.

"Today we can fight as enemies. But from then on? Lets fight as friends."

Gus took up a ready stance and nodded to Vlad. Whatever he did, Gus knew he could defend against it.

Vlad looked at him with anger, as he was slowly standing up. He was talking about it not being a cheap shot but a move to help that little pipsqueak @Xandrya Vlad was pinning back down earlier today, with her little angry face shooting anger at him and he had to admit, it did look pretty wrong.. But he was too angry to think rationally and shook his head to remove all thoughts about it. The man then pointed at his wounded arm, which actually wasn't that wounded, talking about how he healed it. How could he heal it? Wasn't he an elementalist like him? How could he manage something like that? Is he one of the nurses walking around?

But these thoughts vanished as soon as he saw his arms getting covered in some red aura. It wasn't fire, it was something else.. Blood? Vlad was surprised for a second, he never fought blood benders before but this excited him more than make him more careful since it was something new. The fat man was talking about something else but Vlad didn't pay attention to what he said as he was already thinking about going all out and see how strong that bear was. He slowly slide his foot backwards and turned his body in a battle position with his fists up. " I won't go easy on you fat man, it was a mistake to challenge me!" and with those words he charged forwards while fire covered his shoulders and arms. After taking a few steps, a few meters before reaching the man, Vlad stretched his arm outward while still running, and concentrated fire into it. With a swift swing he shot a wave of fire toward the fat man, blocking his vision of Vlad which he quickly used to get closer to him and to crouch with his other hand turning into a fist, covered in fire, ready to hit the man.

Things seemed to be calming down and lunch ended anyway so most students were already leaving. Maxim did notice however that the fat student going after the red-haired one, as they were both involved in the near fight he assumed that there was going to be fists, or whatever it was they flung, flying after all.

He had decided to follow, rather easy to accomplish, and found that the fight was already starting by the time he got to where the two met. He had no intention of breaking it up though, instead he sat down on a rock nearby to watch.

Gus was no stranger to combat. He knew what could be done if his opponent got an edge over him. He knew what kind of damage a guy like Vlad could inflict if Gus lost sight of him. Momentary advantage would cost him every single time.
The red hue on his arms had spread to every inch of his body as he amplified his already powerful frame. Rather than avoid the flames, Gus wont on the offensive with an explosive charge forward with left shoulder leading him into the attack, his left arm sweeping out in front of him dispersing the screen of flames. His whole body twisted to his right side as he took a step forward and lunged, putting his considerable weight into a crushing haymaker. Sheer force had the wind whistle while his fist punched out at Vlads form.

But it wasn't the end of the assault. Vlad was a nimble fighter, capable of fast reactions and fast hard hitting strikes. That much you could tell at a glance. Following the punch Gus took a strong step forward and stomped on the ground while launching his right shoulder again at the boy.

Despite the effort, it was unlikely he would hit the boy with either. So Gus prepared himself to accept the return blow if he dodged, and would retaliate.

After his rather, uncalled for, sarcastic comment the girl totally 'accidentally' bumped into Luke, he almost let the beloved sushi drop from the safe enclosure that is his mouth. With an intense glare she left her side, taking her bag with her. Well it wasn't like he didn't deserve it but this kinda reminded him of home. His family members, save for his Uncle, all pretty much acted the same way. Maybe it's how Luke developed thick skin. Also, the event did nothing to help remedy the whispers and looks he got all around him.

Now that he was done, he promptly and neatly put his tray away, which his fellow school mates didn't seem to do as when he went past their tables the trays were left here and there. As lazy as Luke was, etiquette was ingrained by his not-so-lovable family, so by instinct he put his tray away. After doing so, he left the cafeteria, not entirely sure what to do. First thing was that he picked up his dormitory key and room.

"Room 107... Who will have the pleasure of rooming with little old me?" Luke pondered, eyeing the dangling keys. "Well whatever, I can check that out later. Now... What are we suppose to, or meant to do?"

---

... Was Luke lost. He decided to walk around the enclosure, and he already stated this before. But it was pretty damn large. A few classes here and there, emnities as far as the eye can see. It seemed that this academy stretched endlessly.

Luke doesn't know exactly where he was. Scratching his head in confusion he looked around, the classes all looked dauntingly down at him. He entered one room to the next and found them all relatively empty, save a few random students here and there. Then stopping by one class, it was barren and empty. Though there were hints that this was a class for air students. What kind of wrong turn did he make.

"...Where exactly am I?"

Emi

Brunhilde didn't need Emi her help so she resorted to just looking around the media center a little. They had all sort of stuff, it didn't look old or anything, quite new in fact. They were using decent computers and there was close to no spot of dust to be sighted. The teacher overlooking the media center was dusting at the moment so that might have been the reason why. The teacher didn't look like anything fancy and Emi couldn't tell which element the teacher was using so maybe it was just a normal bystander, the world needed those too. Multiple copy machines and printers. Also some small shelves filled with manuals and popular books. It was better then the library where you would have to find anything on your own. Most students weren't out for old knowledge so it was a time saver indeed.

She saw brunhilde from a distance sitting behind the computer. It looked like she knew what she was doing, a little weird for a girl like that but she didn't complain and let her do her own thing for now. Emi browsed between the books, the teacher almost immediately shot to her aid but Emi kindly declined her offer since she was just browsing. It had some titles she knew and read but nothing to interesting that had gotten her attention. She opened up a book about plant life and paged through it a bit but it was nothing to interesting.

Emi got back to Brunhilde and stood behind her when she handled her computer business. A glance at the screen made clear Brunhilde hadn't been on there for a while. She had dozens of emails but Emi didn't interfere. She would get into her privacy if she would talk about that. Brunhilde was gonna send Emi some info too. Well she didn't mind although for what exactly? Emi gave brunhilde the book and wrote her email down leaning slightly over the small girl onto the page with her info as Emi waited for the girl to finish.

The scanner of the printer gave her an idea. She snatched a random page from the waste bin and spread it over a table. She made corners of her index fingers and thumbs and held them slightly above the pages corners. She emitted light from her index fingers onto the page and slowly went down. At some points she slightly burned the pages but she was able to read the dark spots on the paper like this by the use of her brains and the light together. It was much clearer like this but it still needed some improvement. Like a way to actually read the letters instead of knowing where the lines of the letters were. A copier had a build in mind to decipher the pages but Emi didn't. If she were to master this she could possibly read blind from paper. She grinned a little as she tossed the paper back into the bin again. It was half burnt but it was worth the test.

Proudly she walked back to Brunhilde who closed the computer and picked up the journal again. She asked Emi if they needed to do anything else today. Emi rose her index finger to her chin and pondered for a moment.

"Hmmm.... Sunning? No that wasn't it... Uuuuhh..."

Emi walked over to the window and looked up at the sun. With all the data from the sun, how hot it was, what day it was she could know the time by just a simple glance. It was one of her special abilities. Or so to say her only one. It was around 40 minutes after the lesson of Avarius had ended... crap.

"Hehehe, I suppose we should hurry to the lesson. I kinda didn't pay attention to the time."

Emi giggled softly and quickly took Brunhilde her hand and had started to wander off towards the same spot they were on before they started the break.

While charging toward the fat man, Vlad was sure his flame wall would put him on the defensive and distract him, making it possible for him to hit him with a charged fire fist. And there was also the fact that he was a heavy man, and due to that, slow. But to his major surprise the man didn't back off nor did he defend himself, he went full on the offensive and dispersed Vlad's wall with a powerful sweep, sending out a shock-wave which Vlad could feel even at his current distance. One of these hits was enough to break some of his bones, so he had to absolutely be sure to avoid them at all costs.

After the sweep, the fat man took a defensive stance with his shoulder forward and a powerful stomp on the ground, which made it tremble. But to Vlad's surprise, it wasn't a defensive stance. It was an all out tackle. The fatman charged forward and Vlad was baffled. "Isn't he afraid of one of my fire powered punches? What is he planning?". He smirked eventually. "If he wanted an all out attack, he'll get one!".

With his fist pulled backwards, ready to punch and the fire around it getting more and more intense, Vlad charged at him. "I'LL SHOW YOU POWER" he yelled. The fire intensity wasn't as powerful as the one he used before on the boulder for two reasons. Reason number one was the fact that he wouldn't have enough time to fully charge up since they were rapidly closing up. Reason number two was, no matter how much he was pissed off by him, he had no intention of killing him or inflicting a grave wound, or blowing off his limb.

@KuramaaaZ (he's strong, but not that strong. ;) )

Gus braced himself as Vlad roared in with an expected all or nothing attitude with his hands ablaze. It was going to sting like all hell but sacrificed were made for the sake of victory.

Now or never!

Gus turned at the last moment and fully opened his guard, the flaming fist striking with explosive force on contact. Despite his size and his bracing the attack almost managed to knock him completely off balance and spoil his counter. A feat he would not admit being surprised about.
Gus grabbed Vlad by both shoulders and roared, picking him up bodily and throwing the boy as hard as possible into the river.

The moment Vlad was airborne, Gus slumped to one knee and let out a ragged cough, a tiny speckle of blood escaping his lips as he held the burned flesh on his stomach.

Despite the wound he was still smiling and more than ready to continue.
