Set classes would be a good idea, just so we have more structured format to work with. Also can we make a book called 'The tales of old Leonard' as recognised literature in this universe? A compilation of short tales about Banan and his most faithful follower, detailing all the fanciful requests made of Leonard by Banan, written by some bard who took an interest.

@MelonDawg I don't think it's necessary for physical weaponry but I was just saying so no one can have too much powerful magic.

@Raizin I think you mean 'schools' or D&D calls them 'domains'-different types of magic that can be mastered. Which I think is a great idea so were not all throwing conflicting ideas out there. Couple things you have to ask first:

How prevalent is magic in the setting? Do average people have access to it or does it take years even centuries to learn spells?
What is the source of magic? A few common sources are divine, elemental or magic simply being another natural force in the universe.
What are the drawbacks to using magic? What toll does it take on the mage?

All I can think of at the moment-but it should get people thinking about magic in the setting.

What about distinct "Evil" and "Good" variants of mind manipulation? Also, what if there is some "super-magic" that is more powerful, but more difficult/more costly/forgotten?

I was thinking about this thread and all the things talked about. What if humans were the generic 'bad guys' in this world? All of the peaceable or non-evil races could be more natural...or primeval like our mushroom-folk? The world could be more like this and this and a little bit of this. As opposed to the same generic fantasy dingy little village with a castle type setting.

@MonstrousMan that works and then there's subcategories like spirit magic and the more advanced elements or keep with just basic categories?
@Polybius I like the idea of the humans being evil but what do you mean by the other races being more natural? Like tree creatures and rock golems?

Yea because we talked about non-humanoid races early on. Tree-people. Rock golems. Fire elementals? Lizard-people. Frogmen. Some sort of avian race. Panda people? I dunno I could go on but you get the idea.

@Polybius for some reason I didn't think animal people just like trees and rocks lol. Well if we do that it would make sense that certain races use certain magic since there all natural, unless magic isnt natural in this world, but more like an anomaly which I think someone mentioned before

Understandable, then how about if their just the most hated because of the prejudice of the majority? Leaving room for there to be plenty of good humans, and we can also have evil other races or just make every race have its evil and it's good, just depends on what everyone decides on

So, we have an entire continent that floats or is levitated by some force, be it unknown or otherwise.

The other two continents: Winter/swamp continent with some forest and a warmer climate, no necessarily desert but certainly something similar to a geographical area near the earths equator. (?)
