@Menhir I messaged you multiple times saying that I wanted Layla to join up with the students with Varus. You just ignored my PMs despite being acrice in other threads. I said it was a weakness due to het size, nothing else. Anything else that you got from those words were simply you interpreting it differently. You should have asked and not just ignored my questions and requests.

Huh, we seems to be slowing down. We've having quite a fast week before so it's understandable, though it came off as a surprise.

@Nanashi Ninanai I think it's cause we're basically waiting on one or two people before we get the chance to move again.

@Nanashi Ninanai Yeah, but the pace will probably hasten once the update is done. Just need to alter a few parts based on the remaining posts.

Hopefully, the forest group would be done by that time as well so that I could give all of them an update too.

Every good RP slow down eventually. Can't always keep running at 100 MPH, else we might just burn ourselves out. The trials are sort of everyone's introduction scene to the RP, so it's normal to have the RP so active right now. That and the fact that we have 20 characters. It's my first time having so much people in the same RP.

Once we get over those trials, I expect the RP to take a smoother pace, unless Scio constantly throws us such events throughout the RP.

Yeah, I'm sure once everyone (well... almost everyone) isn't in the same room, we'll be at a nice middle.

Welcome back! There's no particularly intense rush since everyone knows real life is a kick in the nuts sometimes, but it's great to hear the status of things.

@BassDropp What January said.

Anyway, I was thinking that me choosing to go with the HxH System (Current System) for magic was a bad idea since the idea of how each category would function depending on their proximity to each other is kind of strict and hard to follow. If people don't mind the occasional edit, I'll try and think of something that's simpler.

I was thinking of including spells into the mix sooner or later. So might go with something like that. Also, comments on the idea of actually having stats? Like letter grades or numerical values that would just function for comparison so that you'd know Player A is physically stronger or faster than Player B.

Yes, please! I vote for Stats!

@Scio

I've actually stayed away from other magic school type RPs specifically because they had a strict ranking system (personal taste thing, of course).

I find that people tend to get too caught up in the pigeonholing process of an A vs. B rank to play organically (like I must win no matter how amazing or clever your tactics are because I'm an SSSSSS rank while you're just an SSSS rank).

Just generally speaking of course.

@Scio As the characters develop more abilities or sub-abilities (Like, I could probably split Rhian's into two-- one for bug control and one for bug size scaling), I think a ranking system could possibly be good. A-F. Kinda fits the school theme, too, I guess. If we really ever came to a hair splitting moment, however, I would rather do the whole "Pick a number between 1 and 10" deal.

I'm a little less enthusiastic about the abilities being cut up into spells. Makes it seem a little less like X men and more like Harry Potter. (As much as I love HP, I just like the X Men feel for roleplaying better. Gives you a bit more flexibility.)

Only RPs I've ever been in that had ranking systems were either tabletop games, or Fate rps. ^^;

Both allowed for weaker people in terms of raw stats, to topple much stronger opponents. I must admit I've yet to come in contact with people like those however, just people who makes blatantly overpowered characters and focuses on being the one with the biggest stick instead of properly RPing. Bloody munchkins.

Good points, but on the other hand, Systems allow for the representation of things like Metamagic/Magic Resistance better than Non-System stuff, along with stuff like Illusions or Mind Control.

Oh, if the ranking system is there purely to determine who wins fights-- then no, thank you. I was thinking of it more as a "Has this ability reached it's max potential yet or no?". Like a letter grade the school tries to classify your abilities with.

Agreed; Stats represent sub-abilities better, which was what I was trying to say, but failed to do so.

I play Tabletop Games and I know Fate, and the systems there are pretty fucking good for representing sub-abilities.

Haha, yeah the OP ones are usually the worst of the lot.

Ultimately I don't mind whatever system comes out, just throwing my two cents into the tip jar.
