we read band of brothers in US history!!! haha

I read that book and watched the series first time about five years ago. I still watch the series maybe once or twice a year.

@Prophecy You're talking to a twenty-something-old cook-to-be. I don't know about the generation thing, but here in Finland the Commando comics are still quite alive. I used to read them more as a teenager.

@Oak7ree God, those kind of teachers are the worst, right? But jokes aside, I've actually never read either of those - I have a feeling it's a generation thing? I'm also intrigued by WWII, but that's mostly due to my mother being fascinated by it all. I suppose it's rubbed off.

@MegaOscarPwn I feel you, but not so much the Spanish history. More just general forgetfulness...

@Oak7ree *climbs on* Now is you flattened? =P

As for chars...
WELLLL *sheepish expression* I've got several ideas and my mind is on overdrive and not letting me choose. I have a brother-sister pair, one with something like electricity/technomancy (but less magic more science. I'd explain it better if I used it), and the other with hydrokinesis. I have a pair of supersoldiers, escapees from a rather intense and ultimately disastrous program for powered children. One is a sniper/marksman, the other a melee fighter. Although, the marksman /can/ work independently, and I might try that. I kinda wanna do a shadowcaster -- someone with powers relating to darkness and shadow, though jumping from one shadow to another would be teleportation and thus not allowed. But things like vanishing in shadow, stepping /into/ shadows, or just becoming a shadow instead of a physical person...all are mixed up in this concept. It'd need refining. I've decided against my force user, simply because I'm running her a bunch of places already.

There's issues with all of them, though. Shadowcaster, one of the best things is the shadowjumping, and I don't actually have a full character for them yet. And the blending with shadows is a lot like the guy with camouflage. Hydrokinesis is similar, though not identical, to Oscar's ability. And I think I saw sniper in Henry's stuff. Yes, I would write them differently from the other person, but...ehhhhh. It just means there's no clear winner here.

Oh, and since Aria isn't using the gaze weapon idea for Prince, I also have a young lady who drains energy and KOs people by looking at them -- except she can't turn it off. ^.^ Probably not her, though.

Any of these seem like you might like to play against?

@Shylarah The marksman, I guess. S/he could either have a friendly rivalry with Jean Calvert (my character is the sniper with the camouflage power).

@shylarah (If you're talking about Henry, my character, then no he's not connected to snipers at all so feel free to go down that route)

@Oak7ree Perhaps more of a location thing then. I genuinely can't remember ever seeing a comic book during my childhood. Strange.

@Lady Selune @Shylarah Or... how about magnetism a la Magneto? I remember him being basically being a Nazi test subject in the X-men movies.

They are known as "KorkeajΓ€nnitys" here in Finland, and you can basically buy them from every well-equipped market, kiosk or book store. I have no statistics, but I guess they sell enough to keep printing them.

@Oak7ree@Prophecy@Lady Selune I think, after serious consideration, that I am going to try for Sparks and Bits. This was the original pair I got excited about. However, Bits has some sniper training, though she's best with a marksman's rifle (so probably a carbine of some sort, or perhaps a fully disassemblable sniper rifle). And I don't believe Sparks could blow up a tank...but he could certainly get the treads to jam. <3

Working on finding a good sample for you, Lady~ There's a few I like a lot, but they're rather long, and most are dialogue or action, not both. Plus needing two people...*flails* should finish by tonight with that, though. Then char sheet might take a few days, depending how frantic thigns are this week. <3

@Oak7ree Oh, wow. Yeah, I don't think I've ever seen a comic book in the supermarkets where I live. Then again, I have a German friend and I know that he used to read a lot of comics, all of them in German mind you.

There are no comic book store per se in a market, but often a corner of a market is often devoted to different magazines, comics and periodicals.

That's really bad luck, we have loads here in Spain, there's a comic store literally next to where I live. I got gifted a comic today lol, a Deadpool one.

@Oak7ree@MegaOscarPwnSadly the closest thing to a comic book I'll see is the cover of OK magazine.

And just to clarify, that is as I walk by the magazine stand. I do not - I repeat, do not - read OK magazine.

@Shylarah What, you don't have comic books in a grocery store? I am almost baffled.

Jokes aside, comic book selection in a Finnish market isn't that great, often just the Spiderman, Donald Duck and a few others.

@Oak7ree Donald...Duck? Okay now I'm /scared/. But no, usually grocery stores are food. Sometimes general supplies, like general household items. Some toiletries. A supermarket or a store like Walmart might have books and comics, and also electronics and appliances and clothes and bedding. But your best bet for comics are as follows: book stores, geek stores, and of course comic shops (because...well dur).

Is it just me, or is this starting to look like the Inglorious Basterds with superpowers? All we need is a Christoph Waltz or Hugo Weaving as the bad guy.
