Blade woke up and and got up and went to the deck, he saw Tiffany and walked over and said," its nice in the night so calm, all the stars in the sky." He looked at the sky, and crossed his hands.

"Sir! Captain!" called Frank, rushing up to the deck. The night was pitch dark, and his eyes, accustomed to the dim candlelight of the cooped up office, saw absolutely nothing. "Captain! Ahoy!" he shouted, waving his documents around. There! At the edge of the ship, not two steps away from the water, was Captain Delaney. "Ah, there you are!" exclaimed Frank, running over and giving a little bow. "Here is the paperwork you requested three days prior. I think you would find them satisfactory," he said, handing over the loose pages.

Captain Delaney spun around to face the deck when he heard Frank calling for him. He flipped through the papers assiduously for a few moments before handing them back to Frank. "The papers are exactly as I'd requested Mister Carter, and I thank you. It's just unfortunate that they were intended for a kingdom that no longer exists." He held back a cheeky grin at how lost in his work Frank had been today. "But it's no matter. We're setting course for the Golden Chain islands to the southwest, so you won't need to worry about doing any more for quite a while."
At one time, the Golden Chain had been under foreign rule by a powerful empire. It grew extremely wealthy, as it was in an excellent location for trade and it was rich in natural resources from it's volcanoes. As time waned on and power shifted to the now-destroyed kingdom and it's rivals, the empire fell and the Golden Chain was left to it's own devices, becoming a quite anarchistic crime state; a perfect place for a pirate.

Tiffany simply nodded, mainly because she was so engaged in observing the sky that she didn't notice anything else. It seemed like she was in some kind of a trance. Her posture was a tad more relaxed and her hands were moving around in a unladylike manner. That sometimes happened when her family or acquaintances weren't around. In moments like these, she didn't have to pretend to be just like her parents.

A Leo constellation caught her eye. Within it, she saw the star nicknamed the King Star- Regulus. A small smile tugged on her lips. Star gazing seemed to be exactly the same as at home.

Marybeth Baker


Marybeth was asleep. She was dreaming about the attack on the city and she was back there. This time she was able to save the queen but instead she saw the kids slaughtered by the enemy. She screamed in her sleep and scared herself awake. When her eyes opened in terror she realized that she was drenched in sweat. She got up and went to wash her face and to calm down.

"Erm . . . aye, sir," Frank muttered, sheepishly taking back the papers. In his head, however, he was cursing up a storm. To be fair, he had worked 3 days on them. "Golden Chain, sir? Can't say I've had the pleasure of being. Funny, that. I've raided up and down the southern archipelagos in my younger days, but haven't come across it. If you do not mind me prying, do we have a particular objective there?"

"Gathering supplies, mostly; we had to leave in such a hurry that we didn't gather much before our escape. Though it never hurts to catch up with old contacts." Ulysses replied, leaning back on his elbows against the railing. "Though I'm not surprised you've never been there; no good for raiding, unless you want the whole west sea after you. It used to be part of the Great Empire before it's collapse, and since it's become quite a madhouse. We'll be in good company there, Frank; just our kind." He smiled wickedly at the thought of such a lawless place.

"I'm alright," she said glancing quickly at Blade. She really wasn't, but Tiffany believed that she had to at least pretend she's strong around others. The only people who she felt free to show or tell her emotions to were her family or Marybeth. After all, her mother always said that leaders need to be strong.

Anastasia was woken by the scream. She had not idea when she fell asleep, but she guessed that a quite a while ago, due to her messy bed hair and crumpled dress. She delicately put on her dark brown slippers. The doctor made her way to their lavatory- if you could even call it that- to see what happened. Leaning against a wall, she noticed Marybeth. " Are ye alright?".

Marybeth was drying her face off and she was still shaking. Hearing Anastasia's question she nodded her head. "I will be. Just reliving the day in my dreams and trying to change it." She said quietly as her eyes began to tear up again.

"Yessir," muttered Frank, not listening too closely. He learned the hard way that in every haven there was a strict border maintenance crew, often with a pass phrase or other proof of piracy necessary for entrance. There would be no sneaking into port, especially with as large a ship as theirs. Quickly, he ran through the ones he knew, many of them but faded memories now. Maybe if he prayed to a god he didn't believe in enough, the crew would be somehow spared from being hacked to death by cutlass.

Captain Delaney retreated to the quarterdeck with his starmaps. He had a vague idea where they were; after all, they'd been going almost directly west for a day, and he was familiar with this part of the sea. He guessed that it would take just over two days to reach the Golden Chain.
