@Polaris North, that sounds more or less correct. I like the idea of him being a first responder, holding things together so people can get out.

@Old Amsterdam, that's a good guideline. Let's call it the Martian Manhunter rule: More powerful you are, more common your weakness is. Martian Manhunter has an absurd array of powers, but is shut down by fire.

@Goliah, How do we define harm? Can this character be shut down by the thought that arresting or stopping a thug would provide his children with a less-stable home life, thereby "harming" them?

I'd also be more positively inclined to greater power on a Freak instead of an Epic, so if we're talking a huge, strong, man resembling a rabid yeti, I'd say yes. I'm seeing this as more a "life with superpowers" RPG than a "superhero" RPG, if that makes sense.

FINALLY DONE HOT DAMN SORRY IT TOOK SO LONG. Background took waaaaay longer than I thought it would but I'm happy with how it turned out.

Anyway, so a couple of things I need to ask you about and also so you won't have to read the whole thing in too much detail:
  • I'm not sure whether to classify Alto's power as a mutation or an Epic power. It changes his arm, and it's always on and everything but it's not 'he turned into a clam' you know what I mean?
  • Also I feel like I'm being way too specific with the power. Is that kind of okay though?
  • Not sure if I was allowed to use Jerry and I didn't want to ask before I finished because I was on a roll >.>


That about sums up the things I wanted to ask.

EDIT: Wait, I didn't realize someone else did the hospital thing already

- Pyrokinesis is the power, the Vice Claw itself is a mutation. Silver cuts off the flame, not the Claw.
- You seem to be working through what having a constantly burning arm would do. That's fine.
- He seems fine to me.

All that make sense? I would personally categorize him as a Freak: a burning, numb hand is more of a disability than an asset. He's a lucky Freak, unlike Marching House, but he's still a Freak.

And I'm quite convinced people with enough money would take those showing symptoms of powers to a hospital.

Is Alto part of the ECPD? Because if he is, then they would have definitely met each other already considering the two departments, I assume, work closely together.

And yeah, I think they would be good friends.

Thanks for the clarification, I'll make the changes to list him as a mutant. It shouldn't affect his story too much.

@Polaris North
In my mind, since Alto isn't technically old enough to join a police force he wouldn't officially be a part of the ECPD. But since it's apparently more of a gang than a police force maybe they'd allow him to be in it. Either way, I would picture him more as he works with them a fair amount because he knows Jerry, but he doesn't want to join them yet because he also wants to figure himself out.

Oh so he sometimes helps around when he can. Well, that should be enough for them to see each other. I assume he has already started helping out?

They can bond over the fact that they weren't exactly wishing upon a star to become an Epic but since they already have the powers, why not use it to help? That's basically what's on Rob's mind when he was starting out.

@RoflsMazoy, the ECPD is still operating semi-officially. They operate as an official police force, and still have the usual procedures when needed. A 19-year-old would still be a trainee, even if their entire left arm was a Freak mutation. We can certainly talk about getting you involved there later, though, as a PART operative.

Yeah, I mentioned he's been gaining media attention for the past year because he only started acting as an Epic, sort of, within the past year of whenever 'current' is. So he would still be relatively new to this kind of thing, but he has strong beliefs.

Hm, would the Rescue Operatives be tied with the ECPD or do you think they would just be an independent group? Because I just thought of it on the spot and thought you should decide on that.

Well then, if that's the case then they have already met each other since Rob's been on the Rescue team for I think five years now.

@Polaris North, I think they'd belong more to the EC Fire Department. They'd work hand in glove with the ECPD and the hospitals, but report to the Fire Department hierarchy. Emergency Response, at least.
