50 years have passed since the last Pirate King roamed the seas. Monkey D. Luffy and his band of merry men were notorious throughout the world for traversing the mysterious Grand Line, conquering the New World and obtaining the truth about the origins of both the World Government and the network of sailors who call themselves, Pirates. Towards the end of his journey, Luffy had obtained the respect of many islands and focused his attention on cleaning up the seas of those who he deemed to be 'bad'. However, although he managed to rid the world of many evil Pirates and Marines alike, the world inevitably keeps turning and history continues to repeat itself in the form of new dreamers setting sail onto the greatest sea in the world. Not long after he ascended to the seat of Pirate King, the greatest crew in the world simply vanished.
Without a trace or word, there was nobody left alive who could account for the whereabouts of the Straw Hats, some hypothesized that in order to live a peaceful life the Straw Hats had took it upon themselves to flee to Raftel, or one of the Sky Islands, where they would forever remain undisturbed till the end of their days. On the year of the turtle, Luffy declared that he had left the greatest treasure ever to have existed, One Piece, in its rightful place, waiting there for the next crew who were destined to become the new kings of the sea. Ushering the world into the next era, whispers float through the Grand Line and the Blues, the seat of Pirate King is once again up for grabs and those who seek power, fame and fortune are once again sailing towards their dreams.
Although I made use of the Large Group tag, I'll only be accepting around 6-10 characters who'll all end up in a single crew. I'll explain the details on why you're all actually together later on, just know that your characters don't need to know each other beforehand. Them meeting is simply coincidental and just due to the circumstances they're currently in.
The type of story I'm going with is one of adventure and exploration, so basically what the Straw Hats are doing. Don't misunderstand though, I'm not saying that we'll be mimicking them. After the initial arc, succeeding stories would be presented to all of you as a list of options you can take. It would range from visiting various islands, rumors that can be tackles with, confrontations with other characters, or some random anomaly. The more diversity your characters have, the more options you'll be presented with. An example would be having an actual navigator, so the number of islands you'll be given to choose from will be higher or the chances of running into a storm would be lower. Another would be having a bounty hunter of some kind would give you more knowledge on current bounties and reputations of other pirates. The presence of an engineer/shipwright/carpenter could give you the option of stealing another ship or supplies needed to pimp up your own ride. If everyone wants to start of as an adventurer who only knows how to fight, that's not a problem; no need to force yourselves into making a character that would fit certain roles. If we reach a comfortable and stable pace, I'll be open to accepting more characters, a second crew, or even characters who want to be part of another faction like the marines.
Anyway, I'll leave it at that first and see if anyone finds this thing interesting enough before tackling other aspects of the story.
