This original RP will have a dragon, his mate, his children, and some kobold servants, plus side-characters such as villagers the dragon extorts for tribute as well as would-be dragonslayers.

Whoever plays the dragon can name him, but I would prefer that three constants be adhered to: that the dragon be large and red, that he breathes fire, and that he is clearly in command of his territory, which is headquartered in a cave. I won't play the dragon or dragoness: I'd like to see how others handle them.

As for kobolds, those are small, dragon-like humanoids with snouts and tails, but no wings. They live in caves, work in mines, and they revere and serve dragons.

The open roles so far are:

The Bull Dragon: Billobob
The Dragoness:
Dragon child(ren):
The lead kobold servant: Aristocles.
Kobold servant(s):

Other characters can be suggested, even if it means giving the dragon multiple females as mates.

I'm interested! I could play the dragon himself, the old standard dragon (red, big, and fire-breathing!) sounds like fun! Of course, I'd totally have fun playing a lowly kobold mineworker too. Just wondering, do you have an initial conflict in mind? (a starting point for the RP?) I understand you haven't fleshed this out much yet but it sounds fun.

Well, I imagined there would be dragonslayers and possibly disgruntled kobold workers, for starters. Possible domestic issues as well. Yeah, if you want to call dibs on the dragon, go ahead. While you can play him in many ways, I would ask that you not make him abusive or cruel. Not that kind of RP. Just putting that out there to be safe rather than sorry.

Anyway, 4-5 players are needed before we can start, I think.

I wasn't planning on being cruel, but you do say the dragon extorts the locals for tribute, so he must have some sort of power/threat against these people. Are you just cautioning against a unilateral, static character?

I'm cautioning against something like scenes of people being graphically burned alive, or kobolds being eaten whole, or females being violated. It's out of an abundance of caution, not a solid concern that you would do something like that. Just to be safe. And yes, it is a caution against a static character too. He can have power over villages and towns, but that doesn't equate to horribly violent scenes like something out of Apocalypse Now.

All right, just making sure I was clear on what you were thinking. When you want me to post something more in depth about the dragon just tell me.

You can start posting more information now. A name and a personality would be a good start. We still need 2-3 others players, I think. I'll post a name and other stuff sooner or later myself.

This is what I have so far, I might write up some more specific history and a couple other things (as requested!)

Name: Amrel (the Farm-burner, or sometimes derisively the Cow-tipper)
Personality:
Amrel is a quick-tempered yet caring dragon. He has accidentally scorched many visitors because of his flashes of anger, and has, on occasion, set fields of corn on fire, earning him the nickname “The Farm-burner”. But despite the nasty reputation of most dragons, Amrel does not delight in violence. He enjoys his power but attempts to be just to his subjects, allowing many to see him and plead whatever their case may be. In fact, some unfollowed-up threats have seen many dub Amrel “The Cow-tipper”—he can strike no fear in the hearts of the masses. Of course, those that do dare to call him that to his face quickly regret it; those lucky enough to escape with just some singed hair and a burn or two certainly would not dare insult Amrel again.
To his mate and child(ren?), Amrel is perhaps a bit rough but a strong bond lies underneath. He hopes to raise his young to someday reign over the land just as he does, and he strives to meet his mate’s every want and need. His family knows him as well-meaning, but they are also familiar with his occasional lack of empathy; Amrel sometimes fails to realize the consequences of his actions.

I guess I am willing to try this. Perhaps I will be a vicious dragon hunter in training out to prove herself/himself.

Good CS. As for you, Dawnstar, feel free to post a CS yourself. I'll have one soon. One more player and we should be ready to go. Two more would be better, but we can start with four.

Name: Tanarac
Picture:
Race: Kobold
Position: Head kobold servant to Amrel
Background: Born in the warrens beneath Amrel's cave, Tanarac serves the dragon as they all do. He was hatched in the communal nest where all of his tribe's children are born, and raised in much the same way as they were. The tribe's young were usually instructed to be become one of three things: a miner, a soldier, or one of the staff waiting on the dragon and his family. In Tanarac's case, he spent time doing all three. At first, he worked in the mines as an extractor of copper and iron. When a war broken out, he took up the spear and shield that are the standard weapons of his tribe (which used to be known as the "Deep Stone" tribe, but now calls itself the "Amrel" tribe, due the their allegiance to the dragon) and fought. After winning some victories, he was promoted to be one of the highest-ranking members of the tribe, eventually being called on by Amrel to be his chief servant. Now, Tanarac lives in a cave right next to Amrel's, and he helps the dragon manage the day-to-day affairs of the realm.

Personality: Tanarac is best described as loyal and dutiful. He supports the dragon even when Amrel loses his temper. Tanarac is no fanatic, however, and unlike the other kobolds, doesn't view Amrel as some sort of deity or creature of similar stature. He knows that Amrel is just flesh and blood as he is and is prone to making the same errors. As for his personal life, Tanarac is considered an attractive mate among the kobolds. Since they do not marry, all eggs laid by the females in the communal nest have unknown parentage, and their young are raised by female caregivers who are the collective mothers of the tribe's young. As such, he often has another "lady friend" every month, although he wouldn't feel jealous if she was caught with another male.

Clothing/Equipment: He wears a cobalt-blue robe with a little belt, and a brown loincloth underneath it. Most of his tribe dresses in either a sleeveless shirt with shorts, or a simple loincloth. In combat, Tanarac uses a shield and spear, along with a simple leather jerkin for armor. He also uses a dagger, which he keeps in his robes. Given that he, like most kobolds, is only about four feet tall (it varies by about half a foot), he is no threat whatsoever to Amrel.
