so while making my character (my character is a lot of support abilities with few actual attacks) i used one of his spells for telepathy, which is one of your listed skills, but my version is more advanced allowing me to act as a "hub" for group communication. advice?

The hub seems like a great advantage over the listed skill, another big advantage would likely be that it might bypass spirits and go directly from holder to holder (because well... It's gone wrong before relying on spirits like Jester, Koko and Medusa...) and of course some skill points you could spend elsewhere.

Here's my CS by the way.

Name: Charles Night

Charles' right eye glows a soft red, due to his spirit living in his empty socket.
Bio: Charles almost lost his life at the age of 14, when he was trapped in a falling building. Lodged under a fallen girder, he had given up on living when his Spirit appeared to him. Using it's own mana in a desperate attempt to keep him alive, they hung on together until he could be rescued. unfortunately, infusing it's mana so intricately with his own left his spirit unable to survive without a direct connection to him, and so it took the place of his missing eye. 10 years later Charles found his way into the Intelligence department of the Library.
Branch: Intelligence

Spirit:
-Name: Sophia

-Personality: Sophia is a kind, though sometimes ill mannered, spirit, always seeming to be tired unless there is action. Though she seems ordinary enough, Sophia has many unique skills suitable for speed and stealth.
-Special Conditions: Sophia is a Knight spirit focusing on speed, but due to her inability to leave Charles' contact she cannot manifest herself. Instead, when she would be summoned she instead spreads her Mana through Charles far more powerfully, temporarily granting him the abilities she would have had herself. When resonating, Charles goes through several physical changes, including the red coloring of his right eye spreading to both, his hair lengthening temporarily, and Asian lettering appearing on his arms and chest.
[Active State] When receiving power from Sophia, Charles can enter an Active State, increasing the strength of their resonance by using Radian Mana to supplement their own. This action improves his overall abilities, AGI +5, Pow +3, Jump lvl +1. This Active State can last for 5 posts, and has a Cooldown of double the time spent in it.

Weapons/Spells: Weapons for Rooks, Spells for Bishops and a combination for Knights. Pawns can ignore this section.

* Telepathy: Charles can speak directly into the mind of anyone he has met before, or who is in his direct line of sight. He can converse with multiple people at once, and even use his mind as a psychic hub to connect multiple people together, though if more than three people are talking in his head he starts getting distracted from other tasks.
* Chain Knives: When Resonating, Charles can use Sophia's weapons, one of which is the Chain Knives. The knives have a variable length of chain between them and can either be used for combat or as a dual grappling hook.
* Four Fold Staff: Sophia's most complicated weapon, the four fold staff can be used as four different weapons: a bo staff, a three section staff, a scythe, and a naginata.

EDIT: Most of it looks good, but there's two points in the abilities I wanna adress;

Because intelligence is such a tricky concept to define and measure, I'll assume Psychic Overload's resistance will depend on SPI. Nightmare would also need a resistance check, as would it's active. Else you could just take people out of the fight regardless of the conditions of the encounter and power levels of the opponents. So if you could take care of that, it'd be great.

right, i'm used to more "play it by ear" RPs. can i assume that SPI, along with being the amount of spiritual prowess, can also indicate a person's amount of willpower? also should things like state of mind be taken into account? Nightmare should work more effectively on people who are distracted or unstable.

The stats do nothing outside of what is described on the OP. Generally we try to keep it as simplistic as possible (usually that works well until we start rolling formulas around) but it's mostly in check to compare power levels and prevent godmoding. Quantifying things like willpower and intelligence leaves up a lot for interpretation.

The problem with nightmare having no statistical resistance check is simple. If you're fighting one giant monster with a team of 3-4 people, one of your allies distracts them and Charles casts Nightmare, then your team can basically kill without any risk the moment it kicks in, which wouldn't be very interesting more than once. Support abilities are some of the easiest to go OP with ;p

i changed it for a definite scale, but my idea wasn't to autokill everything. i'm just so used to playing things by ear that i assumed i would make a call, and if it was wrong you would tell me.

Side Note: i also changed Psychic Overload to effect based on spiritual awareness instead of intelligence, making it easier to deal with.

Yeah, something like that. Though I do have to warn you, both players and enemies level up as the game goes along. So using static numbers would scale rather poorly for your abilities in the long run. Think of something like, SPI-7 for high effect, SPI-1 for low effect.

And I'm not implying you are a godmoder or anything, but that these kinds of stats help us cover some of the weaknesses of the 'by ear' method ;p

actually, can i remake my character? i had originally planned for him to be a king of night rook hybrid, since his spirit is part of his body, but i couldn't think of a way to fit in the telepathy (and the spirit being able to project herself)

Name: Eidren Tassar



Bio: Eidren was born a holder. His parents were also holders. His father a bishop at Intelligence, his mother a knight and only working at the mercenary branch. At the age of 6 both his parents died while they were on a mission. He was taking in by other holders who also lived and worked in the library. 6 years later at the age of 12 Alyssa first manifested and showed herself to him. Over time she reached Eidren to use different kinds of weapons and powers. They trained and lived together for quite some time now. Eidren had gone on countless mission with his fellow holders and remains friendly to everyone while Alyssa sometimes annoys people to no end. They all seem to get along just fine.

Branch: Intelligence/Mercenary

Holder: Bishop

Spirit: is Alyssa. She loves to make fun of people. Her jokes may seem cruel but she isn't a bad 'person'. Although handling a sharp tongue and an unlimited amount of sarcasm she is very protective about the ones she cares about.

Weapons/Spells:
*Light Equip: Eidren summons dual wield swords made from pure light. The swords can be maintained away from him, and dissolved and reformed in his hand regardless of its position.
Active: A full body armor from pure light envelops Eidren's body - CD ranges from 1 to 3 depending on how many damage the armor has taken (+1 CD for each point of dmg)
*Righteous might: Eidren calls down a beam of pure light to burn his enemies to cindering crisps (does a LOT of damage)
Active: (standard AoE: 3 by 3 meters) The AoE and destructive power of Righteous might gets extended. (1x1 meters and per 3 SPI and SPIx0.25 rounded up as extra damage) CD = 7
*Angel Transformation: Eidren receives wings, his eyes also begin to emit light. He will be able to fly and his reflexes increase slightly to not hit anything while flying
Active: Eidren overexerts the light bestowed upon his body. He gets increased POW, SPI and AGI as well as an overall buff (x1.25). Resistance to spells and damage form al other sources gets reduces. This power also enhances al his kills and abilities. The downside to this is that Eidren suffers constant damage. The longer he remains in this state the more damage his body suffers. When used for too long this may result in death. Max (safe) Duration 5 turns, CD 3 per turns used.

Yeah... This needs fixing for a number of reasons.

Like I mentioned, you can become a type of hybrid by dedicating spellslots or adapting your spirit to work with it (although the spirit armour has a huge weakness to blunt force) but just saying "So, yeah, hybrid." doesn't work. Being able to summon an immortal spirit (it's dispelled when it takes too much damage) is a very versatile tool, so giving the holder the same kind of power as a bishop, even with a spell or so less, is completely op. In fact the versitality of the knight is compromised by the vulnerability of the holder.

Besides, judging by your abilities, Eidren works just like a Bishop anyway

EDIT: 8+7+6=21 and I assume that by LEAP you mean JUMP?

Also light equipment and armour are a gigantic amount of spells. Specify them. Also add a CD to the active.
What's the radius increase to the holy beam?
What is the numerical value of the stat boost to active of the angel transformation?
