Devon checked his phone. The red light was flashing, which was not very cool when you were in the middle of chasing a wild demon monster outside the city. He stopped and sighed. Ferid huh? Alright. The guy usually had something good. He was always into big, secret business. No one ever knew what he was hiding, but he usually didn't let you down. Devon decided to leave the monster to its hunt and went the other direction, back home.

Later, in the city, Devon came walking up to... the human wards? He saw Ferid waiting for him and approached calmly. "Hello Ferid."

Ferid stood there smiling. "Devon, how lovely to see you~" He then got to the point. "Well we have a problem. There are whispers of an attempted escape from the vampire city by a group of the Hyakuya Orpahange. They're ready to move out as soon as tomorrow. Will you kindly help me in stopping this escape?"

Devon blinked. "You certainly take an interest in the state of the orphans, Ferid. Is their blood that good?" Devon smiled coyly. It certainly was odd that Ferid was getting involved in something so beneath him, but Devon had no idea what his true motives were. "Nah, I kid. I don't really care why you want to stop them, but I will help you. Do you want to make an example of them, or do you want them returned alive?" Perhaps in assisting the old vampire, Devon could learn more.

She watches as the other orphans eat the watermelon, it saddened her that Aya was keeping secrets from her. She looks to Valerian "Im not hungry, you can have my portion" She walks off to her bed.

Ferid replied, "I wish to make an example of them. One of them has been coming to me. She has been offering me her blood in exchange for some good things rather than what the orphans get each day regularly. However, I can taste in her blood that she's planning something, though what, I do not know." Ferid smiled a little wider. "I plan to stop them, and with your help we will not fail."

Aya saw Eleanor's face and she walked over. "Ellie...I guess I have to tell you... I exchanged my blood for the watermelon...." She knew Ellie would get mad at her for doing that. But Aya had her reasons.

Devon shook his head. "Of course we will not fail." He was mildly irritated at the veiled insult. "So, you think she may have contact with the Demon Army? That's definitely worth investigating. I'll spy on them for you. The orphans don't know me, and I can convince them I'm someone they can trust." He shrugged. "It might work, but in either case, I'll be close enough to know if they make a move."

"All this leftover watermelon... what am I to do with it? I could try cooking it, I guess. That'll preserve it somewhat." He'd slice the watermelon into equal-sized pieces, then would cook it over a fire using a grill. He would cook the watermelon on one side, then turn it over and cook it on the other side. "They're bound to get hungry later on anyway. They can test it - Watermelon Steak!" He would take two watermelon steaks out and walk over to Aya and Ellie. "Here, try this. I don't care if your hungry or not - you're both going to be guinea pigs."

Ferid smiled, white fangs flashing. "Then do it. Some might not trust you though, after all, you are a vampire, Devon. And she may have contact with the Demon Army. But she is just a child."

Aya said, "I'm really not hungry, I already ate," she lied.

As Aya open her mouth to speak, one of the watermelon steaks would be shoved into her mouth. "Idiot. I know for a fact you haven't eaten for a while."

Aya seemed surprised and she chewed on it. "Who're you calling an idiot, Va-chan?!" She shot him a look.

"V-va-chan?" He hung his head in despair and walked away from Aya slowly. "V-va-chan... it's worse than Valerie..." His voice took a morose tone, as if something serious had happened. The younger orphans would laugh at Valerian's reaction.

"Hey, Va-chan!"
"Va-chan! Va-chan!"
"Va-valerie-chan!"

Aya said, "Now now, kids, stop it!" she shooed them off. "Sorry, Valerian, it slipped out..."

He took no notice of what Aya said and slowly moved upstairs. He would lay down as if he was going to sleep, being haunted by memories of 'Va-chan'.

Aya sweat dropped and she sighed, sitting down and chewing her watermelon steak.

She sighed as she finally got some information from Aya "Thats a start" Suddenly she notices Valerian stuff a cooked watermelon into Aya's mouth. She shakes her head and walks off without opening her mouth. She goes to her bed and sits down. "If you want me Ill be here" She didnt want to be involved in this feast that caused her friend pain

Aya sighed softly and she went to her own bed and laid down, going to sleep. She needed it.

Devon nodded and left. Later, at night, he showed up in the orphan wards, just stalking around. He knew which one the girl was in. He lingered outside, hidden, savoring the odd scent of... cooked watermelon?

She lied on her bed just staring at the ceiling, she didnt want to speak to anyone right now.

Suddenly, in the middle of the night. There were some sounds outside. Sounded like someone running and crashing into a trashcan or something. Just outside the home of Aya, Valerian, and Ellie, there was a kid, and 2 vampires.

At first they were merely standing in the open air, facing each other. The kid was out of breath, and the vampires were smiling evilly at him.

Eleanor rolled over about to fall asleep when there was a sudden loud banging outside the residence. She slowly and quietly crept towards Aya and wakes her up quietly. She signals to be quiet and tells Aya to go wake up Valerian. She goes into the kitchen and grabs any sort of utensil possible to use as a weapon
