I can provide you a list with the alien races we have to choose from but you are more than welcome to make your own. The more the merrier after all ^_^
As far as tech, we have all thought up different ideas in the past but I know Jones might have a better answer for something in detail.

Akaya will send you the list of alien species and cultures

and as for tech, a lot of it is kinda explained in the backstory of each species.

the origins of space travel started 5,000 years ago with the Tu'Veeri and Yhei. The Yhei especially are incredibly advanced and made mostly every widely used equipment in the known galaxy. There's your classic sci-fi blasters, and ships, and 'Hyper drive' mode, and I am very open to any sci-fi idea anyone has, because my character uses an old revolver modified to shoot elemental bullets, and a combat glove to produces an electrified whip... so I'm very open to see what you guys think up! haha
