Date: June 24th. 2018.
Location: BACTIS HQ.

Midday. A bright sun shining out over the crystal clear oceans of the Atlantic, clear skies and whispy clouds, blowing in the sea wind. Set out amidst the cresting waves, a large aircraft carrier of gunmetal grey and silver, sailed onward. The large ship, to the untrained eye, would seem like any standard military vessel, a large flat top boat with various small aircraft dotted upon it, long runways for takeoff and a tower overseeing it all in the hot sunny day. But to those in the know, this aircraft carrier was in the fact the mobile home base for the deployment of the BACTIS agents. It had been decided on when establishing the BACTIS task force, to have both an on land base and a marinal base for quick deployment of their agents in crisis situations, which considering the frequent outbreaks, was more than useful.

On the inside, the aircraft carrier was a little more like a cruise ship, made more for living and leisure than military purposes, the metal stark shell hid a warm and welcoming interior. It was decided the BACTIS agents should be made comfortable in their living spaces whilst aboard the ship, as well as providing adequate training facilities where needed. All agents had a room here, usually built and supplied to their specifications and needs. For said agents, it would be time to arise soon and be on standby for their potential missions. And with the clock striking 12, anything could happen in the evening of the day.

Nissa Mereborn soon awoke with a yawn, stretching herself in her bed. Before rolling off and down moving into her regular exercise position.

She had about ten minutes on her clock, before official awakening. So with that notion she started her bumping - hoping to get 300 push-ups before the clock ran.

Jarrod had been up for about an hour, practicing his swordplay. After the rigorous training, he sat on the ground, holding his dogtags as sweat poured over his bare torso. He took a large gulp of gatorade before standing and pulling on his underarmour shirt. He moved on from the blade training area to the gun range. He picked up a 9mm pistol and an AR-15 from a rack of weapons before setting up at a station. He loaded the assault rifle and unloaded the clip in the target's chest and head. Satisfied, he brought down a new target and loaded the pistol, copying the same shot pattern. Smiling, he replaced the guns on the rack and walked back to his training bag. He shoved his towel and gatorade back inside before wandering the dead quiet ship, heading back towards his room.

Kimi Rousseau could be found in the main gymnasium, doing her practice exercises with her staff. There was a fluidity to her movements, yet a sense of tension and control. It was a practice of technique while also being a way to focus and calm herself. So in a way, it was therapeutic, which was helpful right now as she had quite a bit on her mind.

She normally never questioned herself, but she wondered...did she do the right thing by joining BACTIS? It seemed like the obvious choice to join, but she felt like she wasn't doing it for the right reasons. Many agents had joined in order to help protect humanity and make a difference in the world, but for her, she knew she did it to take herself to the next level. Beating up bad guys? Child's play. Becoming a high ranking member of a renown mercenary group? Now that was a pretty big deal, and it would be hard to find something bigger than that. But she craved finding something "more" than that, and saving the world definitely scratched that itch.

But that was what made her feel conflicted. She was doing the right thing for the wrong reasons. What kind of person did that make her?

Well, she wouldn't be able dwell on it for too much longer, it would be time to meet with the others soon.

On Jarrod's way back to his room, he encountered a familiar face hanging out near one of the windows. One Joan Galliard, the French member of the BACTIS team and their demolitions expert. She was a very well built individual with a crop of short black hair and the brightest green eyes a man could see short of a serpent. She was a mostly quiet, revered individual who hadn't been particularly social, taking a very 'business as usual' attitude to this whole affair and by how she was gazing out over the water, she looked a little off. Dressed in simple clothing, track shorts and a grey tank top with gloves to boot, she continued to look out over the water.

Kimi was not alone for long, she spied a fellow agent working out against a punching bag, his fists wrapped in bandages as he worked. He was a Japanese fellow, Akagi Tetsuno, the assault member of their agents. He was a hotheaded brash fellow, but he had his experience in covert operations in Japan. His hair was brown and short, his sides shaven and the back short. He had a very well toned figure with only a few scars visible on his exposed arms, wearing simple black shorts and a white shirt with some logo on it she couldn't recognize. His blows rang out around the hall with every strong punch.

A knock came at Missa's door not too long after she was done exercising.
"Hey! You've been in there all morning, get up already you lazy ass!" The voice was none other than Victor Mane, their biohazard expert on the team and the most experienced member of the BACTIS task force.

Nissa, soon jumped at the sound of someone banging on her door. Groaning at having Victor, their 'expert' on the nature of this, be the one whom has spent the most time here. She felt he was more of a glorified scientist at that.

"For your information Victor," she replied, opening the door to his banging, only wearing a sports bra and pants. Her clock soon started beeping. "Now its 12 o'clock, which is the official time to get up and going. Don't bother, knocking around the Israeli on the ship - since chances are, three others are slacking more than me."

It was the truth, seeing as Nissa was always the first ready if a mission came in - albeit, slept like a log when not. Also them being on edge, almost 24/7 didn't help at that - seeing as the few teams they had, weren't much fazed by fighting undead. Like they had seen worse shit before in Israel. "If the bell is ringing, you got me first to go - otherwise, your just wasting time with me," she spoke, heading for the showers.

Kimi shot Akagi a side glance. If there was anyone on the team that she felt was her complete opposite, it had to be him. Hotheaded, brash, and with a focus on a more offensive style of combat, the only similarities between them were their ethnicities and past experience with covert operations, though she would say that she had more expertise in that. Still, he didn't seem like a bad guy, as far as she knew, since she hadn't had any problems with him.

"Hey, Tetsuno," she called out to him, still going on with her exercises as she spoke, "What fighting style is that? You been practicing it for awhile?"

"Not an excuse." Victor replied. He was about 40 years old in terms of age and had one of the most punchable faces this side of France. He was dressed somewhat formally in a white dress shirt, black tie around his neck and matching trousers with smart shoes. For Victor, every day was about making a good first impression, whether he was needed or not. Upon his perched nose were a set of rounded spectacles which he switched out for contacts in the field, plus grey hair that fanned out behind him into something of a mullet, with much forehead showing and squinty blue eyes. He was American by nationality, straight from Washington. Despite his attitude, no-one knew more about chemical weaponry than he did. "You going to fight those freaks in your underwear if we're called out at a second's notice? Who knows when Coffin will strike... god i'm working with amateurs." he pressed his fingers into his temples in irritation.

@Mike73
"Hai." Akagi nodded immediatly as she came over. "Simple kickboxing. Not flashy or complex, but it's good when needed, no? We need as much advantage as we can get." Akagi's English was... not the greatest. Lord knows he was trying but the accent was thick enough he'd slur into R's at points and miss obvious drops in sentences. But he was smiling nonetheless.

@Leo Khan
A loud siren began to echo all around the ship, a red alert alarm. At times like this, all members of BACTIS were to head for the briefing room on the top level of the ship. Chances were, Coffin had finally struck again.

"Trust me Vic, when shit hits the fan - you can expect me to be the first out and hitting the dead," replied Nissa, before jumping up and getting her stuff for a quick wash in the ship' showers.

"I'd go in my panties and bra, if need be. Just make sure I have ammo and a sniper rifle," she added.

Jarrod looked up to the alarm on the wall and turned on his heel, running to the bridge. About 5 minutes later, he burst through the doors to see the more important crew and officers as well as his team members filing into the room.

"You make a good point," Kimi nodded, "Kickboxing is useful skill no matter the situation. Hopefully you won't have to use it against the Undead though, close quarter combat with this type of enemy is extremely risky." She glanced at the staff in her hands. "Though I suppose I shouldn't be one to talk."

During their conversation however, alarms suddenly began to go off. They'd all been informed that the sirens would indicate a new mission had arrived, so it seemed that it was finally time to head out. Kimi nodded to Akagi, signaling that they should go. The briefing room wasn't too far away from their location, so once they were on their way they would make it there rather quickly.

'So, Coffin has struck again...' Kimi thought to herself as she hurried along, 'The time came quicker than I'd thought. Looks like I'll be able to show them what I'm made of even sooner than they'd bargained.'

Before long, the six operatives of BACTIS found their way to the briefing room on the top deck of the ship. It was a simple meeting room with a long table and many seats, plus a large projector screen on the southern wall. Once they entered and took a seat, their commanding officer entered the room, head of intelligence and surveillance of the BACTIS project, as well as ex soldier, Colonel Brigand. He was a fairly beefy man, crew cut grey hair and something of a chiselled jaw, but despite his appearance he was known more for his intelligence and tactics, hence him landing this position.

"Good, you're all here. We'll begin." He greeted them simply, holding a clicker in his hand he used to bring up an image onto the projector screen. It was a satellite view of a colorful looking city. "This satellite image was taken only a few minutes ago, over Barcelona. Three ground to air rockets have been fired and hit three major civillian areas. The infected are currently spreading across the city. Local authorities are attempting to contain them, but they will not last long." He clicked ahead to an image of the BACTIS logo.

"The six of you will be flown to Barcelona after this briefing. You will suit up, be equipped with the aid we have been given and enter Barcelona. Your mission will be to stem the spread of infection, assist civilians where possible and, most importantly, gather intel on Coffin's mutations. This is the most critical factor of your mission. At present we know very little about the infected and whatever is causing them to continue spreading, and until we do, there will only be more dead zones spreading out stretched resources further. So keep a watchful eye for anything you can find."

Now he reached into a small pack on the table and took out a needle and syringe, a curious light red liquid swirling inside. "Before you are dismissed, there is one last thing we must brief you on. Thanks the containment of an infected in Gujarat, we have been able to understand the spread of infection. These infected will attempt to wound you rather than kill you and this is how they will spread their infection into you. The time of infection is only 15-20 seconds, so if any of you are bitten or have an open wound in the field, it is integral you make use of this." he held up the needle. "This serum has been provided to us by the pharmaceutical company Silver Cross. It is a quick acting antidote to the infection if applied immediatley to the wounded area. You will only have 15-20 seconds and after that point, the infection will become too strong and take over. No cure for that has yet been discovered." He finished grimly, replacing the needle back into the pack. "We've been able to provide three for each of you, you will find them in your packs when you suit up." He turned from them for a moment and was quiet.

"Any questions?"

"Yeah a few. Are there any specific target areas that we should sweep? Any suspicious personnel to find and detain? Where do we meet for Exfil and do we have a time limit? Or do we just wait till we feel everything is clear and radio in? And will there be any immediate evac standing by in case one of us goes down?" Jarrod opened and closed a balisong repeatedly as he spoke, closing it and looking up as he finished.

"Yes. Specifically the sites where the outbreak began. The most noteworthy is the Cathedral of the holy cross, investigate there to see if you can find any sources of Coffin or the outbreak." Brigand confirmed with a nod. "There are presently no suspicious personnel, all people in the area are fleeing, fighting the infection or are infected. There is no time limit, we must simply stop the spread as long as possible. Once the military arrives you may be relieved of duty, you'll be kept in contact about developments by headset." he explained furtherly.

"A field medic will be going with you for any injury that is not infected... if one of your team do become infected with no cure available, you are to terminate them immediatley. We will have an evac standing by and will provide a point when needed for serious injuries, but in the case of infection, terminate without pause or remorse." He said grimly, hands behind his back.

"Understood Colonel. I think I speak for all of us when I say, let's kick some infected ass." Jarrod stood and saluted the Colonel, waiting to be dismissed so he could gear up.

"Not to be one to lower the morale, Sir. But your basically sending six people to likely hold back a literal tide. That law enforcement agencies couldn't hold back," spoke Nissa. "There must be some sort of gameplan in mind, instead of sit here and hold back anything beyond that line."

"How much importance, are we to place between making sure the civvies are saved versus securing data?" she asked - despite being the most lax in terms of personal discipline, Nissa was also one of the most pragmatic of the group. Namely from being from Israel, where civilian casualites were a normality they had to deal with. It was decent question at that - since street-fighting against likely thousands of infected with only six people, was almost tantamount to suicide.

"Right now, the six of you represent those most trained and possible to fight the mutation, armed with the weaponry, tools and knowledge that most simply do not have. We do not expect you to hold back a tide, we simply hope for you to find a breaking point within it we can use to turn the tides. We simply don't know what that point is, yet. This is why we are flying you into the city itself instead of to the border." The Colonel explained to her, keeping his eyes upon her. "You are to prioritise collecting data over rescuing civilians. Aid where you can, but we are here to win a war against mutation and terrorists. And to do that we're going to need to know what our enemy can do."

"Shall we be receiving any attitional support? Namely supply or air?" added Nissa. If push became very hot, then Nissa would atleast take some comfort in knowing - that she could call a firebombing of a certain block of the city. Or get a quick evacuation, incase things got very hot in there.

Plus protracted fights, was a likely liability - when most of the civilian population could be turned against you thanks to the virus. Even with the equipment they had, they were still vunerable to the age old decay, of running out of ammunition.

"We cannot risk too many extra forces on land. However, the chopper will make supply runs at designated points we will radio to you about. You should never run too low on ammunition and we will be able to provide some extra needles of serum. The chopper is also armed and will be able to assist in larger threats, just call for the pilot if you need the support." The Colonel confirmed with a nod.

'Those two sure are talkative...' Kimi thought to herself as she eyed Jarrod and Nissa, 'I suppose it's important that we know as much as we can, so they're at least being proactive.'

"The only thing I need to know," Kimi spoke up, having kept mostly silent during the briefing until now, "Is who's going to be taking the lead out on the field. I assume the responsibility will fall to Victor, seeing as the old man has the most experience of our little squad." She folded her arms in front of her chest. "Other than that, I don't have much else to say. I'll be ready to go once the briefing's over."
