@Kouki Black*Star is always the weird and ridiculous exception. The guy literally grabs lasers and throws them back and then proceeds to eat an attack from Vajura. Like -
While Maka and them do normally treat their missions with severity, they also don't always. From what I've read past few days, there has been times when Maka and them also haven't treated them seriously. Though for different reasons, like just being entirely distracted and not thinking about the mission. Kid also had his Symmetry attacks here and there. Not to mention the disobeying orders countless times.
While they are technically a military group, they are also treated as students while at the school. They aren't treated like military cadets. Also technically most of their missions they pick out themselves from the board of missions, so most of them are extra credit. Except for the urgent ones handed down by Death. Otherwise they essentially have regular classes mixed in with proper Meister and Weapon classes. At least that's what I've gotten so far from reading the manga. still need to finish it.
Also Kouki I wanted to ask if you could draw up a picture for my weapon character like you did for loki, if you have time that is.
Doesn't the fact that they have orders mean that they are being treated like military cadets.
Also, military cadets have normal classes too. That's how military school works. DWMA is just an advanced military school, training child soldiers while keeping them competent enough in other fields of study so they can function in the world.
And I don't recall them directly disobeying orders often if at all. The only thing I recall is Death the Kid stopping to turn to and run after the sky because it was perfectly symmetrical but that love of symmetry comes from his nature as a God Of Death, beings dedicated to order. Eventually, he realizes that symmetry isn't everything but he still treats the ideals of order and the world's safety with the utmost importance.
Plus, if we say having an idiosyncrasy means you aren't a professional than everyone in this story is garbage.

This world is just full of crazies, we have to adjust our standards and views of behavior for the universe we're in.
So true there on many regards, I was simply saying that they pretty much don't have the normal military like discipline. Like when recovering Brew, Maka, and the rest of them entered the vortex when their orders was to stay outside of it and to signal the retreat if stein doesn't return with brew in the time limit. Either way it is an interesting world to see what shall happen in the future. Only on chapter 92 so still got a little ways to go.

@Kouki The one major case in both the show (Maka and Soul turning their backs to find Crona) and the manga is when they actively disobey the order to kill Crona.
Regardless, DWMA certainly does share some aspects of Military School but it still is a unique enough set up that it can't be compared directly to military school. It's a really weird in between sort of academy. Y'know besides the obvious being supernatural 'n all.
Edit: Which reminds me, when you mentioned ranks. Are we going to try to apply the 1-2-3 Star Meister rankings? SPARTOI were 2 Star Meisters.
Edited my CS to include more on Amy's personality and history as well as a few other details. Still can't think of a good Soul Resonance though. It needs to be something sufficiently metal enough to top a flaming motorcycle to begin with, plus earn the name "NOS Lowrider XXX" xD

Not to mention it allows me to understand a lot more things that the anime didn't even touch on which now I know of that it has annoyed me lol. One thing to hate about the anime version of manga is they always cut important parts out, stop the series early, or just change things entirely.

Too true. Most adaptations really don't do the source material justice sans Jojo.
@Three One of my favorite anime, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles, it didn't even get close to the end. Even though it did 2 seasons. (around 20 episodes a piece). Heck another good series Kenichi History's Greatest Disciple, funny and amazing series. The anime ended only after the first actual arc. Granted that again was like 3 seasons lol. Granted they ended the anime for a different reason, think one of the actors died or something.
The main point I was trying to get throughout this whole thing is this.
Because "she's thirteen" can't be used here, "because they're students" can't be used here, not to the degree we normally would in the real world because frankly, this isn't our reality. We can't replace, or disregard, what's actually happening with what we decide should be happening based off an experience that, on a lot of levels, can't be applied.
@Three Hmm, she's pretty weak for a prodigy witch who was invited into to Spartoi. An EAT weapon who can't even work up a charge to kill a normal human being for sure?
I get not trying to make someone OP but I feel like you've gone too far in the opposite direction to the point that I don't think she would have gotten a letter to join Spartoi in the first place, just, given the requirements to be a candidate.
@DearTricksterYes, but remember two is the highest a student can be. Only Teachers can be three star meisters.
Since to be part of Spartoi you have to be a two star meister anyway, I was just going to have the story say that you were all 2-Stars since it's a moot point......except for Claudius and Diana.

Anyway, I think we have enough people here to say that people are DEFINITELY interested. I'm calling this interest check a success, time to finish work on the OOC and then start screening characters.

Personality: Dorian is a simple, straightforward guy - too straightforward, according to many of his teachers. In his mind, strength and tenacity are a man's greatest virtues, and any problem can be overcome with enough time and effort. While this attitude lends itself to an admirable work ethic, many find him rather obnoxious in his insistance on pushing himself and everyone around him to the limit at every turn, not to mention that studying until you literally fall asleep where you sit isn't all that great for retention. As a meister, he fulfills the minimum requirements in terms of soul perception and wavelength sensitivity, but he relies heavily on his monstrous strength to get him through fights. Though he isn't stupid enough to actively neglect his meister training, he spends much more time working out than studying or practising combat.
Additionally, Dorian has something of an obsession with manliness - taking setbacks like a man, owning up to his responsibilities like a man, and so on. He is dutiful to a fault, and sticks to his word almost blindly - not out of compassion, but out of bullheaded devotion to his ideals. Well aware of his own weakness, he hates to make promises, but if he does give his word on anything, he will typically feel compelled to keep it no matter what. Unless he knows he's being deliberately mislead, and sometimes even if he does, breaking even an insignificant promise will have him unable to sleep for days - instead spending his nights benching railway cars in the local junkyard.
History: Dorian's early life was a thoroughly uninteresting affair. He had the occasional meister and weapon in his extended family, and his own soul potency didn't come as a great surprise. Where he had once been intended to take over the family business - a gym, of course - he set out on the path of the weapon meister with no hesitation. If nothing else, because it allowed him to lift like he had never lifted before.
