"It is easier to forgive an enemy than to forgive a friend." - William Blake

Kreneas looked over the corpse as he knelt down beside Irime. He hadn't known Ronear for long, but the two were always back and forth with their gambling games as friends. The magus would lose some, then he'd win some and the cycle would continue. It was a shame that Ronear and the other elf had died, but Kreneas was more infuriated that another elf would betray his kind during time of war. The thought was sicking, and the magus had a burning desire to catch the perpetrator in order to bring their crimes to justice.

Pulling the dagger free from Ronear's back, Kreneas took a second to analyze the quality of the weapon and the blade. "Standard issue, but there are a few distinct grooves in the blade, doubtlessly from parrying another blade. Do you know anyone that fights with daggers, Irime?" Kreneas asked, yet when he looked up there was no Irime in sight. The magus stood up with a sigh, and sheathed the dagger on his belt as he motioned towards the corpses for the rest of the company to prepare the bodies for burial. "Keep checking the rest of the area for clues. I'll go find Irime." Kreneas replied to the group surrounding him before following the softly treaded sod showing the direction that Irime had went.

Irime Greenleaf

Irime sat by the water thinking and wiping away tears. The two men's deaths were totally unnecessary. She hadn't really known Brevlin but Ronear she had known for a hundred years and he had been a good friend. Right at that moment she wished she could kick him for being so stupid. Picking herself up she started throwing rocks again but this time with all of her anger and pain. Hearing soft footsteps coming towards her she felt him and she turned and ran into Kreneas' arms and cried her heart out.

After a long good cry she went to the water and washed her face while trying to stop her hiccups. "I'm sorry. I-I don't usually cry like that. This one was just too close to home. He was as close as you get without being related." Freshening up her hair and face made her feel a little bit better and she smiled at Kreneas as much as she could. It came out more like a half smile. She felt a little embarrassed that he had seen her crying, especially so soon after they had slept together. This was not the impression she wanted him to think of her with.

"Do you think we'll be heading back out today to hunt the orcs?" She was hoping to distract him from her tears.

"Forgive your enemies, but never forget their names." - John F. Kennedy

While not as skilled in tracking as Irime is, Kreneas could follow the trail of footsteps that the archer had left behind. The tracks were soft, yet they also were easily seen and able to be tracked by the magus. Reaching an outcrop, Kreneas heard running water and the skipping of rocks. Irime had heard his approach, and the next moment she was crying into his chest and hugging him tight. Out of respect and for his own emotions, Kreneas quietly embraced Irime and gently held the archer until she had finished crying.

Minutes had went by before Irime stopped crying, and Kreneas had not moved until she did. Once she was sure that she wasn't crying, Irime when to freshen up, but at the same time she apologized to Kreneas. "Don't be sorry. I understand well enough. It is natural for someone to feel like you are now when a close friend, or anyone close at all, dies." Kreneas replied, placing a hand on Irime's shoulder as he smiled back at her. He wasn't sure if any of his actions were making Irime feel better, but Kreneas certainly hoped so.

Then there was talk of hunting orcs. "Honestly, I'm not sure. Our superiors may want us to hunt down those that murdered your friends, but at the same time, we have a war to fight. You would have to ask them." Kreneas stated, wondering what exactly the higher-ups would want them to do. There was a lot at hand, and it was hard enough for himself to decide on what to do.

Irime Greenleaf

"From what I could see it looked like Brevlin killed Ronear over a gambling debt but was mortally wounded in the fight as well. They weren't exactly friends." Realizing that Kreneas seemed slightly less awkward than he had been she nodded.

"Thank you for your understanding." She looked at him for a moment. "I know I took you by surprise last night. I-" She stopped awkwardly. "I hope you are ....not upset about it?" Feeling really weird about the change of topic she had initiated she blurted out..."I um, I'm going to check with the superiors about the orcs."

Confusion made her hurry towards the growing group of leaders at the center of camp.
