Malena

The medical kit acted like a red flag just as she had expected, people came flocking to her with their injuries, moving from the food guy towards her. Speaking of, he was walking towards her too. The prospect of treating so many people at the same time intimidated her and she started to doubt herself. What if she didn't know what to do? Sure she could put on bandages, make a sling, that kind of stuff. But many of the survivors looked way worse than that, in any case way beyond what her medical kit could fix. She pushed away her self doubt, focusing on what was important. The food guy asked her for some painkillers and she bit her lip, regretting the fact she didn't have any left. Cole had taken them. Before she could say anything the guy hauled over in pain, clutching his chest, coughing terribly. He coughed up some blood and she could tell that startled him, it scared her too because that was rarely a good sign. Malena hid her own worries and fear behind a calm facade, keeping a unreadable expression on her face. He needed some kind of pillow to hold against his chest, to soften the coughs, which were definitely going to follow after that first one.

While she tried to figure out what to use to help him, the girl she'd been worrying about approached her. She was limping badly and looked deathly pale, she must have lost a lot of blood already. That definitely took priority, and the girl agreed. Malena hid her own worry and concern behind a well practiced facade, keeping an unreadable expression on her face, trying to stay calm. She wasted no time and took of her denim jacket, folding it into a bundle. She walked over to him until she they were standing face to face, or well not exactly that. He was a lot taller and she noticed he had ripped off the bottom half of his shirt. Trying not to stare at the sixpack that would most probably be there she handed him her bundled up jacket.

"Hold this against your chest when you feel like you need to cough again, it will hurt less." She explained, handing him her bundled up jacket. Malena tried not to stare at his stomach which was exposed, he had ripped of the bottom half of his shirt. She could practically count his abs.

"I'm sorry but I'm out of painkillers..." She said with an apologetic smile.

That was really all she could do for him right now. Malena turned her attention to the girl and her stomach turned with nerves. She took a deep breath and walked over to her.
"I think it's best if you sit down for a second" Malena said, offering to help the girl to the ground carefully.

Once she was sitting down Malena got what she needed from the medical kit. She sucked in her breath when she saw how deep the cut was. Malena got to work quickly and flushed away the blood with water from a plastic bottle in her purse.
"Can someone hold her arm up please?" Malena called out to the people around them. It was important to stop the blood flowing down, the girl definitely shouldn't lose any more blood than she already had.

After someone stepped in to help Malena got out the bandages. She wrapped them around tight but gently. With the bandages wrapped she checked on the girl, judging from her facial expression she wasn't doing so well. Malena put her hand on her forehead, even through her glove she could feel the girl was cold. She brushed some hair away from the girls face.

"You're doing good..."

Malena was worried. If there were people coming after them, like that girl who dropped of the medical bag warned them about, this girl definitely wasn't in the condition to run.

What if she......tried to use her power?

She'd never used it on a wound this bad, and what if it would do more harm than good? Malena knew she didn't have enough energy left to share with her, without it being harmful to herself. If she was going to use her power she needed to get life energy from someone else, but they were all pretty banged up.
