Rose hadn't noticed how much she had missed her mate Shareen until she had a sit down with Luna Lovegood. The witch while older and a bit odd, was good company. Rose had missed talking with someone and Luna was pretty receptive to her, unlike most of the people Rose had come across at Hogwarts. Luna seemed to be genuinely interested in what Rose had to say and she missed that, having someone she could rely on. Rose and Luna ended up getting a pot of tea and a tray of cookies while they chatted and perused the endless bookshelves of the library. Soon it was time for dinner but they didn't budge. It wasn't until the night completely fell upon them that they had a visitor. Rose had been expecting to see Mr. Smith or maybe Harry and Hermione but instead it was the Doctor. Her expression darkened slightly as she was still cross with him. But she and Luna and the Doctor chatted before Luna went off to get to bed.

That left Rose and the Doctor alone together. They talked and she accepted his apology though she was still bothered. She could put that aside though as it seemed like something was coming, as the Doctor could only predict. "Why can't I just open it for him? Does he really gotta do it?" She asked. Though it was decided upon that it would be more productive if the man willingly opened it himself and allowed the memories to come back to him, rather than forcing it to happen. Rose nodded with a bit of a sigh. If something was coming, they needed to be prepared. And from the sounds of it, it sounded like it was worse than plastic things coming to life. As much as she wanted to make a Voldemort reference, she refrained from doing so. They had matters to discuss. Rose agreed to try and get close to Mr. Smith so whenever something happened, she could at least look out for him as best she could.

They parted ways and Rose headed back to the Gryffindor Common Room. When she got there, no one else appeared to be up so she continued to the dorms. She quickly headed to bed and found herself up bright and early for some reason. Still feeling a bit emotionally drained, she got dressed and headed down to see Harry and Hermione talking between themselves. "Hello." Rose waved sleepily and walked over to the duo. They greeted her and said they'd be leaving soon for the muggle world. "Fun fun." Rose frowned. She wasn't sure if she wanted to tell Harry and Hermione about what might happen, even though she didn't even know what could happen. She decided to keep them out of the loop for now and hoped that they'd be gone if anything went horribly wrong. "You two go on and enjoy yourselves." She grinned a little, unable to stop herself from pushing the two teens together.

After that, Rose carried on and went down for breakfast. She wasn't sure if she wanted to hang around Mr. Smith anymore. It was difficult. And she was sure he was getting tired of being pushed to do something he didn't want to do. But Rose said all that she needed to say to the guy, that he should just do it instead of puttering around the topic. The idea that the Doctor was worried about something was pretty bad, sure they just met but if an alien from the future was worried, then she was sure something big was gonna happen. After breakfast, the girl decided to try and amuse herself. It was snowing outside and most of the people were gone, the ones remaining at the school were off doing their own thing and Rose wished she at least had her laptop or something. Even Mickey would be entertaining.

"Bloody hell, I almost feel like doing my homework." Rose ran a hand through her hair as she wandered along one of the many wide but barren corridors of the castle. "I wonder if I can find the Room of Requirement." She frowned. Of course if she got there and thought about going home, would anything even appear? It was worth a try. As she wandered, the day morphed into dusk and the perils of skipping lunch were beginning to tire her. The blond didn't feel like going into a large hall and sitting by herself so she decided to just keep wandering, even if it meant being unproductive. Her mind was still unsure about the Doctor and the other Doctor. It was all so weird and very sketchy. Even now, while walking around a magical school, Rose couldn't help but question her sanity and the possibilities in the universe. In the end, she knew so little, even less than what she thought previously. As she turned a corner, she saw Mr. Smith and she froze, unsure if she should go or follow him or what.

Instead though, he seemed like he had been looking for her as well as something else. He mentioned having opened the watch and that things were flooding back to him. Even so, he was hoping for her help to find the TARDIS since she had been in it before. "Um yeah sure, I can help you look...in this massive castle that hides things and moves staircases." She shrugged, more out of her depth now than she was five minutes ago. "D'you have anything to eat on you?" She asked the man. "I am starvin'."

While Luna was sure the Doctor and Rose could and would patch things up, she couldn't help but feel sorry for both of them in different ways. Yes, bridges had to be mended but she couldn't help but worry about her two friends. Sure, the Doctor should have helped Rose more since she was helping him in the first place. And Rose should have...well actually Rose wasn't at as much fault as the Time Lord. Even so, she was sure they would get better. It wasn't as if she knew some fragment of time had been ripped.

So her dreams that night were less frantic than the night before, she attributed that to being around the Doctor. He was so nice and smart and actually cared about her. It was sudden, yes, but it felt good. Luna knew she had to be careful though, not just because things could be dangerous but because she was still in a mentally and emotionally fragile state. Anything could set her off but she was doing her best to make long useful strides in recovery. When she woke up, she found a note from her father waiting for her on her night stand. She nervously opened it and read it. He was as odd as she was but his message was clear, he loved her no matter what and would welcome her home for the holidays and they would work her future out. Luna wasn't sure how to respond though. Her future was in front of her, closer than ever before but she didn't know if she really would be happy working with the Quibbler or something along those lines.

While she loved her father dearly, Luna just wasn't sure where she would be happiest. The girl set the letter down and got dressed for the day. It made her feel a bit more relieved to know that the vast majority of the school had left so there weren't too many eyes on her. She stepped out of her quarters and found herself inching her way towards the Great Hall. To her surprise and relief, she hadn't run into a single student or professor while in route. She entered and found a handful of children in total and none of them even looked over at her. For once, she enjoyed not being noticed. Luna found her table and began to fix herself a plate of breakfast. Truth be told, it felt good to be back in familiar territory. Of course the outing with the Doctor before had been around the ground and surrounding woods but this felt warmer and safer, even if it didn't hold too many happy memories for the woman.

Hogwarts and those in it still meant a great deal to her and she was ready to take steps forward in making better progress. Yesterday she had been inside the TARDIS and it was wonderful but Luna was torn between a life she knew and a life she was beginning to know. She had changed and now her goals may need to be adjusted. After breakfast was over, she saw Harry and Hermione leaving the school. They didn't see her but she wasn't too surprised at that. Luna could tell when they were together, no one else was really around, at least in their mind. It was cute. Luna had never experienced love but even then, she had read stories of it and from what she knew, Harry and Hermione were in love. She had no one with her now that the school was empty. Well, she had the Doctor but she wasn't sure if she should be with him, even just hanging out. Rose and Luna had talked it over but Luna still felt like she was in the middle of a mess, on accident of course.

And Rose had been kind to her, Luna didn't want to betray that. At the same time, she did find herself missing the tall lanky alien from outer space. Luna decided to see if he was busy. If he was, she would glady give him space to handle whatever he was doing. Still, she hoped he wasn't busy or upset because she wanted to spend time with him and try to help in any way she could. Finding his office empty, she wasn't sure where he would be. Luna spent another hour wandering and watching snow fall from the sky outside the windows. It was lunch time when she finally ran into the Doctor who said they could have lunch in his office if she liked. "I'd like that." She smiled to him and they headed off to go back and regain some fuel. As she sat down and brushed her long hair around to one side of her neck, draping it over her chest, the Doctor mentioned he had spoken to the Headmaster about finding a place for her.

Sitting up more, she gave him her attention as he said he had gotten her a spot by his side as a T.A. "Thank you so much." She said but then looked off. "I did receive a letter from my father this morning. He said I can come home any time and work with him and that offer was always going to be there for me when I did graduate but now..." Luna licked her lips. "I don't know what I want anymore, I've missed so much but gained even more." She paused. "And while your offer to help teach others is also thoughtful I don't know if I can accept it." She confessed. "I don't mean to offend but, I can't stay here forever and teach. I love Hogwarts but I don't think I could stay." She slouched her in seat as an elf brought them some food and quickly vanished. "And you mentioned taking me someplace amazing and that's all I can really think about. I don't know how long you do plan on staying but should you go, I'd rather go with you, if you'd take me." She bowed her head and quickly grabbed a sandwich. "I mean until then, I don't mind helping you out."

With the bright promise of a great Christmas break, the girl could barely sleep with so many thoughts buzzing around inside of her head. Hermione ended up packing, unpacking and then repacking her things before she forced herself to try and get some rest. When morning did come, she was up early and had her things in the Common Room by the time Harry joined her. Their things would be taken to the train for them so now they could get some breakfast and hurry along. Rose came down and they all said their goodbyes. Hermione could tell something was weighing on Rose's mind but she had no idea what it could be or why for that matter. And by now, Hermione was smart enough to not ask questions to a time traveler. It was all so complicated. "Have a good break. Merry Christmas." She could only say to the blond girl before she and Harry headed off to get breakfast.

Rose soon joined them and soon it was time to go. Hermione and Harry headed out of the Great Hall and hurried to tackle the snow falling outside. Due to the weather, Hermione wanted them to go down early and be careful. The train pulled up and they hurried on to escape the cold grasp of winter's fist. Once aboard, they found a compartment and seated themselves in it, ready to dash back home.

"I hope the weather isn't too awful." She noted as they watched the scenery flash by. The green hills and trees and lakes were all so breath taking. Hermione never grew tired to the train ride, it was always so magical. There was no other means of transport in her, except for cars of course. Unlike her best friends, she wasn't fond of flying perhaps because of her difficulty in the subject. Hermione didn't like struggling or failing for that matter. No matter the cause, personal or simply mental, she just didn't like flying on brooms. Of course while she wasn't interested or excited about it, she always went and supported the Quidditch games the boys became involved in. The sport was alright but she wasn't great with conflict or competition. Yes, she did like to be the best and know the most but she didn't like fighting or harboring bad blood toward people. That's what sports were all about.

The hours ticked by with Harry and Hermione talking, reading and eating snacks from the trolly. As noon rolled around, the train pulled into the station, its one and only destination. Hermione got to her feet but was unable to wait any longer for Harry. She darted off the train and found her parents waiting for her with the others. She hugged them both tightly. Being in such rubbish conditions at school had really put things into perspective. She was lucky and never would forget it but she just missed her mum and dad. Hermione turned to see Harry. "Oh sorry. I didn't mean to leave you." She said and stepped aside to give introductions. "These are my parents, clearly. And this is Harry." She then gestured to her friend with the scar on his forehead. They greeted one another and then everyone headed back through the bricks to go to the car which had been parked outside.

Only a light rain was there to greet them as they headed out into the parking lot. They packed up the car and hurried off towards home. Hermione spoke to her parents most of the way, filling them in. Her parents of course asked Harry questions and assured him that he would have a great time while on holiday. Once home, Hermione and Harry got their things inside and Hermione offered to show Harry around before anything else. "You saw the living room, kitchen downstairs and then this is my room." She said as she led him up to her room which was the first on the right. She opened it. It was a basic room, walls painting very light blue. She had a cozy bed, large desk and book cases. She saw Crookshanks sleeping on the bed and decided not to disturb him. "This is your room." Hermione pointed to the one across from her. It had the same inviting but simplistic tone to it. "It's not much but it's home." She smiled softly.

For the rest of the day, they unpacked and all talked over tea and cookies. Hermione's parents then made them a great stew for everyone. They ate and Hermione's parents turned in for the night since they had to work the following day, even though it would be Saturday. "I know they're not the most interesting sort." She said, trying to get comfortable with her magic side meeting her muggle side. But Harry was raised in a muggle family so she was sure he wasn't as uncomfortable as she was making him out to be. "How about a walk?" It wasn't too late even though they had finished supper. "Maybe we can see a movie or check out the park I mentioned." Hermione offered. This was his break as much as it was hers and she wanted him to have some input as well. And even though she was worried about him, she was sure they'd be able to find something they could both enjoy. If Ron was with them, that would be a lot harder.

After quite the day previous, the Doctor hadn't slept a wink, then again not common for a Time Lord to get much sleep anyway. He knew he'd need a refresher before he actually took on the aftermath of the Time Paradox so he had to make the mental note to get in some sleep within the next few days. Having been sitting up, stirring in his thoughts, his emotions, for the first time in awhile he actually felt humanized. He'd been sitting upon the windowsill staring down at the school grounds below from his room, still in his jimjams he was sipping a cuppa tea one of the house elves had brought for him. He didn't like the fact that the elves technically were slaves but he remembered reading in the books of Hermione starting to leave articles of clothing and freeing them. So in a sense the Doctor came to conclusion that the house elves enjoyed their stay at Hogwarts, then again why wouldn't they? It was truly a magnificent place to be.

Three cups of tea and nearly five raspberry scones later, the Time Lord was showered, had eaten breakfast in his room, not really up to socializing for the early part of the morning or any of the morning for that matter. He didn't want to run into Umbridge or Dumbledore, or any faculty member at the current moment, no. His mind was far too focused, more so straining with the possibilities of what the paradox had caused. Whoever or whatever had visited this world due to two Doctors in the same place at once, the Doctor knew he would soon find out. With a heavy sigh, the Time Lord reached up and rubbed along the back of his neck, even now his body was beginning to tense up at the thoughts. 'I hope he's opened that watch…'. But the entire morning he hadn't felt anything at all. He watched the sun rise, drank a few more cups of tea and just simmered in his thoughts as the morning hours just passed him by.

It was lunch time, should he just go to his classroom, he wasn't particularly hungry, even if he was, did he have the stomach to eat? The Doctor wasn't even sure. Sure he had tea and scones earlier that morning, but that was before his mind was fully focused on the impending doom that was to take place, if only he knew what the consequence of the time paradox was so he could prepare for it.. only time would really tell him what would happen. After dressing in his blue pinstriped suit, since most of the students were already gone, and there were no classes, there was no harm in being out of 'uniform' for a 'Professor' so the Doctor wore his trusty brown trench coat, his dark red converse and of course his red tie to pull the look together. Getting a good look at himself in the mirror, tongue across teeth the Time Lord picked up his sonic screwdriver, tucking it into his jacket pocket and exited the room.

As soon as his bedroom door closed he felt it, the watch having been opened and in that instant memories came flooding back to his mind as he held his head and leaned back against the stone wall his eyes closing. He tried to stand there and sort through the newly awakened memories of the events, these events that had yet come to pass but they were so jumbled and disarrayed that the Time Lord couldn't place them, he couldn't sort them, and the darkest memories were the cloudiest, the blurred bits that he just couldn't get to, to see what was to take place. In a way it was absolutely frustrating to the Time Lord to the point his teeth were clenched, his jaw tightening. But at this moment? There was nothing the Time Lord could do, with an angered fist he slammed it against the wall, his dark chocolate brown eyes opening. Standing there for several moments , trying to calm his tense nerves the Doctor finally pushed himself of the wall and headed down to the main floor of the castle.

The Doctor needed to ease his mind from his current problems, and as fate would have it, he actually ran into Luna Lovegood on his way to the Great Hall for lunch. In his time of chaos, seeing Luna brought a sense of comfort to the man, something that he hoped he'd feel and grow quite accustom to as time went on. Offering for them to have lunch in his office the two headed on their way and once the food was brought by the elves the Doctor thanked them for their service and went about telling Luna about having spoken to the Headmaster and that now she had a position with him as his aide. Seeing her smile, receiving her answer that caused the lanky alien to grin "That's brilliant news, Luna" as she spoke of her father and that she had a place with him the man could only give a nod, what was he really to say? He had to admit the man was definitely a father, from what he read from the books and from what Luna was telling him. she went on speaking about being unable to take him up on his offer, but little did she know was that the Doctor wasn't planning on staying here at Hogwarts. He actually ended up here on accident. When the witch before him mentioned his offer on taking her to see amazing places and that she's be willing to travel with him. With that news the Doctor's brows were raised as he looked to her with shock. Luna Lovegood wanted to be his companion?

It took several moments for the Doctor to even regain his current time consciousness "You're certain of this, Luna?" at the realization that this young woman before actually wanted to travel with him a smile formed which actually broadened into a grin "That is the best news I've heard since arriving.. well.." he thought for a moment "yep" his lips popped at the 'p' "Best news I've heard" especially with the horrible realization of the time paradox and all of that. Should he even bring it up? the Time Lord wasn't sure if he wanted to worry her. Yet as he sat there, the Time Lord's mind began to drift and actually he began to think on it "…. well…" he began after several moments of silence "That professor, Mr. Smith turned out to be the one I was looking for. and we've got and even bigger problem brewing" he grabbed his sandwich and took a bite, eating half of it before continuing after a drink or two of his cuppa tea. With that he went on taking his time so she wouldn't get lost since he knew many did with his rapid talking and explained to her the danger that there was a Time paradox that had formed and so forth. But that he couldn't go searching for the threat. That whatever had formed or happened would soon come to light and until that time, the most he and the other Doctor could do was wait until it did happen then do what they could to stop it.

Not having been able to sleep the night before, John Smith sat in his room at the break of dawn just staring at the watch in his hands. His heart was achingly thumping against his ribcage, the tick of the closed watch in his hands lining up simultaneously with his own heart at that moment 'I can't do this, it’s an extremely daft notion. Me being an alien… I …' the man closed his eyes his mind swimming through the memories that had already entered his mind from the previous events of opening the watch in his hands. 'I can't keep lying to myself… I am Doctor. I'm not just tied to that lanky man, I will become him one day…' slowly those clear blue eyes opened as he looked to the watch, a difference in him. Holding the watch tightly in his right hand he was on his feet and at this point pacing back and forth unsure of how to go about opening this watch. Did he truly want to? Did he want to become the Doctor?

'You need to open that watch!'the frantic and panicked voice of the Doctor rang in his mind. "What could be so bad that he sounded so worried?" the man whispered to himself. 'Answers… I need answers… but I'm scared. I don't want to lose who I am now…' . nearly five minutes passed by with the man arguing with himself mentally and finally he came to the decision to open the watch and when he did. Taking the light in completely the man fell back against the stone floor the watch skidding across stone as he became disabled, his mind rushing to and fro like a freight train. Memories flooding his mind, the Time War, his family, everything lost, the Moment, he used the moment to destroy Gallifrey and the Daleks. Several moments passed and the man had stopped breathing. Was he dead?

No, his brain was catching up with his body and within moments the beating of his left heart picked up again and then the faint feeling of his right. Once they were in sync in beats a deep gasp for air was taken as his clear blue eyes snapped open "Blimey…" a hand reached up and held his cranium "Oh my head…" he sat there trying to gather his thoughts, taking in the air several times through his nostril and exhaling through barely parted lips "The Time War .. Gallifrey.. Gone… but I'm alive… how in the blazes is that even possible? The moment … I …" it was then he realized he was wearing a heavy set of garments "Well isn't this interesting.. a robe?" sitting there the Doctor inhaled deeply "Oh I like that, fresh clean air.." he inhaled again "very clean.. too clean.. where am I? what era is this?" it was then with his newly 'born' eyes the Doctor took in his surroundings "Stone.. wood …" they finally landed on his watch "My watch…" crawling over he took a hold of it and arose to his feet finally.

As soon as he touched it images rushed to his mind, John Smith, "A professor… Hogwarts.. I'm in Hogwarts?" a grin formed upon his lips "Oh how I love this place!" with that the man rushed for his door but all of a sudden he heard a 'click' the moment his hand touched the handle. That caused him to freeze instantly as he turned around, to the trunk at the foot of the bed. "that's the trunk I had tried and tried to pry open…. and it never did.." he shook his head giving a look of disappointment and strode on over to it and in an instant threw the lid open. Within it was a black leather jacket, jeans, belt black shirt and to his shock, his sonic screwdriver. "How did this get here?" confusion laced the man's features as he picked up his clothes "Was Dumbledore behind this?" there were so many questions entering his mind but he could approach the man about that later. Disrobing and dressing in his signature attire after a shower the man tugged on his leather jacket and took up his sonic screwdriver. With a toss in air, and a catch the man grinned "Fantastic" exiting the room possibly for the last time the man glanced around "Blimey, I can't believe it! I’m in Hogwarts!" Oh how he loved this place but rarely ever visited. He had to make a note of doing that more often.

'Hmm.. I wonder where my TARDIS is .. perhaps Rose would know?' he descended down the stairs, laughing heartily as he managed to get a few stair cases that moved. Deciding to go looking for her while in search for his TARDIS made his afternoon and nearly most of the evening. He'd skipped lunch, but at the moment wasn't too hungry. Wanting to find his TARDIS and / or Rose Tyler kept the man focused and not even paying attention to his growling stomach. What did he have to eat anyway? He checked his jacket pockets, nothing edible. Heading into the Great Hall which surprisingly was empty, literally empty of people well there were two elves "Beg your pardon, but would you happen to have some food? Preferably something sweet" with a 'pop' and 'crack' the elves returned with a bowl of fruit and plate with of cucumber sandwiches "Mm now that looks mighty tasty. Thank you. Oh hang on, what date is today?" giving the man the answer the elves disappeared the blue eyed Doctor took the finger food and ate a few pieces, maybe three at the most and chewed them slowly as his mind began to ponder.

'December 1995… at Hogwarts. Blimey this is the Order of the Phoenix year… oh no … Umbridge' The man's face distorted in disapproval for a moment as he shook his head. 'Well isn't that bloody just downright jolly…' A momentary sigh, and semi-eye roll he shook his head. His mind was really focused on finding his TARDIS now, swiping the two bananas in the bowl he tucked them into his jacket pocket for later then once again was on the search looking for Rose Tyler and his TARDIS. Yet as he walked, his pace slowed as the memories of John Smith entered spontaneously flooded through his mind until he halted in his steps.

' the man I came with, he’s called the Doctor, I don’t know why, says he’s looking for an alien just like him' Rose's voice, her words.

In that instant a look of seriousness came over the blue eyed Doctor 'A Time Paradox' a heavy sigh escaped the man's lips as he shook his head "Well, better make the best of things until then… It's going to be really dodgy… I can tell that already … where is Rose? That girl is more difficult to find when you're looking for her" just then he turned the corner and low and behold, Rose Tyler. "There you are, I've been looking for you and you're off and disappear, why'd you go and do that for?" he gave her a look of momentary disapproval before giving her a smile. "Okay, up to speed. I've opened my watch, I have my memories, my screwdriver now I just need my TARDIS. If you'd be so kind as to help me find it, I'd appreciate that. since well you know what it looks like and have been in it… yet my mind is wandering to the other Doctor… such a skinny bloke, isn't he?" When she agreed to accompany him in the search the man grinned wide "Fantastic!"

When she spoke about starving the man gave a nod "Well it just so happens that I do" he reached into his leather jacket pocket and pulled out the yellow ripe fruit and handed it over "Have a banana, bananas are good.. Now C'mon we have a TARDIS to find!"

Surprisingly enough, Harry was able to sleep that night, the first time without any disturbances from other house mates and noises. It was actually fairly quiet which Harry indeed enjoyed, when the sun arose the following morning those brilliant green eyes opened but immediately shut as the boy who lived rubbed his eyes and groaned. Not wanting to get up. It was far too bright and early in his opinion. But he knew he had to. The remembrance that he and Hermione were leaving today got the boy reaching for his glasses and bolting out of bed onto his feet. After checking and rechecking his things he made sure to take the necessities and finally made his way downstairs to the common room where he met up with Hermione, the boy beaming brightly. He was actually excited to get out of this school, and what better way to enjoy his Holidays than with his best friend? It was perfect in Harry's eyes.

As Rose joined them in the common room, Harry being in a surprisingly good mood gave her a smile "Merry Christmas, Rose, I hope you can enjoy your break" with that he reached for Hermione's hand and walked with her out of the common room, heading down the stairs for breakfast. Once breakfast was said and done, with a semi-full stomach, Harry headed out with Hermione into the heavy cold weather. It was Christmas weather for sure in the boy's mind but as long as had his best friend, he was in a better mood. Hermione just always had this way of bringing out that light in him, even in his darkest moments. and the boy was ever so grateful to have her in his life. He truly cared about her more than he even knew.

The train, oh how Harry loved the train rides, other than his previous year, the boy shook his head upon remembering the dementors his third year. The hours passed on the train, food from the trolley, Harry was having a fun time. reminiscing with Hermione about their previous years. how the holidays and so forth go with her and her family. Any sort of traditions and so forth. It was nice to be able to throw caution to the wind for the first time in years. As noon rolled around, the train stopping at the station. Harry was quite taken aback as Hermione was up and out instantly which left the boy to blink but smile 'She's excited' he understood. With the chaos that Umbridge had caused at Hogwarts, she missed her parents. In a sense, Harry missed Sirius, he was all that Harry had left that was even remotely considered family. Harry would try to find a way to contact Sirius once back in the Magical Realm that much he'd promise to himself.

Once off the train and nearing Hermione and her family the green eyed boy smiled "You don't have to apologize, Hermione. I understand" moving closer he greeted her parents and before long they were off toward the Granger Household. The tour of the home was quite enjoyable for the boy, after seeing all the rooms plus Hermione's then the one he'd be staying in he gave her a grin "I think it's brilliant. It's so calm and inviting, a warmth I suppose is how I'd describe the feeling of it" as the day went on the two unpacking, enjoying a bit of tea and sweets the boy was rather liking this time away from the magical world. It was simple and warm and just something he could get used to It was loads better than at the Dursleys and in a sense, with all of the tension and negativity at Hogwarts due to Umbridge's tirade? Harry much preferred over Hogwarts at the current point in time.

The day went on and dinner was served, Harry enjoyed his time eating, talking with Hermione's parents and answering whatever questions they had and so forth. But when they turned in and it was just Hermione and Harry left awake the boy "They're your parents, Hermione. I think what they do and how they are is quite refreshing for a change" everything about the muggle world was quite refreshing to Harry. As Hermione suggested a walk, the boy looked to her and smiled "A walk in the park sounds like a wonderful idea" Harry wasn't much for cinemas he was more a simplistic easy going person. A good walk in nature was loads more fun than sitting in a crowded theater in his opinion. Why sit and watch a movie when you could sit under a tree and open a good book and let your imagination run wild?

Rose wasn't sure what she should call the man. He was the Doctor as well? Yet instead of wearing a casual pinstripe suit, he had on leather and jeans, so casual and to the point. He babbled for a bit and she did her best to comply with what he wanted. He then let out a cheery, fantastic, and they were off. Rose kept looking to him, trying to figure everything out. "Yeah he is." She just said when he mentioned the other Doctor was quite skinny. "Guess he forgets to eat when he's too busy with saving the day." She had almost mentioned Luna but she quickly corrected herself. She wasn't jealous of that. Why would she be? She just met the Doctor and he then ditched her. No big deal right? Okay, she was clearly still upset with him but now she was with the other Doctor who seemed more goal oriented. That was a great attribute she welcomed at the current moment. The Doctor then tossed her a banana at her request.

"A banana?" It wasn't that she didn't like them but she found it odd to just carry them around. Oh well. It meant she could eat something which was a lot better than nothing. "Thanks." Rose grinned and began to peel it. "Gotta admit it's a relief to not be ditched by both of you." She couldn't help but comment as they surveyed the empty classrooms and corridors. "I wonder if the Marauder's Map knows where it is." Of course she doubted it would and on top of it, Harry probably had it and he was long gone. Their next best guess would be to talk to the Headmaster himself but Rose was sure he was busy, probably off looking for Horcruxes if she remembered correctly. So they were on their own. Of course the other Doctor could help them but Rose didn't mind the one she had now. He was very interesting, very different from the other one.

And just because she was mad at one didn't mean she had to be mad at both of them. "I'm glad you got everything back." She commented as she finished eating the potassium rich fruit. Rose wasn't sure what else to say. She spotted a trash bin and threw the banana peel away and they continued to look around. How could something be so hard to find? As they checked out the third floor, where Fluffy used to dwell, it seemed the Doctor's screwdriver was picking up a signal. They followed it and opened an ordinary closet and saw the TARDIS parked there. "That wasn't so bad." She grinned and looked at it. It looked just like the other one. The Doctor unlocked the door and they headed inside. "So now that you're retiring from teaching, what do you think you're gonna do? Where you gonna go?" She asked him. It was hard to imagine what this Doctor must be feeling, probably anxiety or excitement or confusion or even a sense of rebirth.

She didn't know but she almost found herself envious of him. He had a new lease on life and yet, she felt stuck in place and a bit trapped, bored almost. How had Hogwarts lost its charm? She then realized she wasn't needed anymore. Now that she had done her job, she would probably be taken back home to Mickey and her mum and her dull life. Her face fell and she leaned back on the odd shaped pillar near her. Yes, she missed them but she had barely gotten to see outer space. She had been busy doing wizardly school work and running herself ragged. "I guess I've gotta home." She said, her question to him, having made her ask herself the very same thing. "I'm happy for ya though." She flashed the Doctor a smile. "It's been amazin' here, totally unbelievable." Rose sighed and glanced toward the exit.

Luna was afraid she had overstepped her boundaries when she spoke to the Doctor. But then the silence broke and he grinned wide, telling her it was the best news he had heard in a while. She blushed and returned the smile, happy that he had responded well to her idea. It was a crazy one but she wasn't fearful. After that a bit more silence fell between them but it didn't feel weird. When the Doctor began to speak again, she could tell it was a matter more serious than the idea of time travel. They snacked and he discussed what was going happen thanks to him and two TARDIS' being in the same place. He spoke of the danger but not knowing what it would be exactly. He spoke of his most fearsome enemies and said any of them could be headed for Hogwarts at the detection of such a big event in time and space. It was a worrisome idea and Luna knew it was hurting the Doctor.

"Whatever is coming, we'll be ready for it." She assured him. "I've got a lot of spells to try out and you have Rose too and maybe the other Doctor now. I don't think things are anywhere near hopeless." Luna said, not at all thrown off by this new collection of information. The afternoon went on and soon it was time for dinner. They headed there together and ended up eating at one large table as it seemed it was the only one in the Great Hall. All other tables, staff included, were gone as it seemed there was no need to have large empty tabled when people could just come together since they stayed at school. Thankfully there weren't many who had showed up when they had, so they didn't have to pressure of making small talk. Instead Luna was able to talk to the Doctor as well as two other professors who had showed up. Much to everyone's unspoken delight, Umbridge hadn't showed up.

After supper, Luna and the Doctor decided to head up to the Astronomy Tower because its view was notorious. And there wasn't much else to do. Luna didn't have anyone and Rose seemed to be somewhere else. As they made their way up the stairs, Luna saw the moon come into view. It was a small sliver but in reality it was all still there, only most of it was hiding from view in the dark shadows of space. She smiled and walked over to the edge where the railing was. If they looked hard enough, the TARDIS could be seen in the thick maze of the woods. She turned back to the Doctor who had joined her. "I know you must feel unsettled and unprepared for whatever's coming." She considered and looked back outside over the vast land that Hogwarts sprawled over. It was a beautiful sight and she would miss it very much.

Even so, she wanted to go. It was something she knew in her heart and to meet the Doctor, she was eternally thankful. And just because she would leave, didn't mean she couldn't come back. Luna felt the buried wisdom inside of her coming out. "Do you think we'd be able to go somewhere? I mean before whatever comes..." She tried to ask him. Maybe that was too risky. She didn't know but she just thought that if he got out of his head a little, he might be better focused when the judgement day arrived. "Maybe it's unwise but we could leave at 9 and be right back at 9:01 right? That's how your machine works? Maybe a vacation would do you some good. Is all I meant." She cleared her throat and looked to him, unsure if he would enjoy that idea or not.

Harry seemed receptive to the idea of going out. After all, they didn't have to obey any of Umbridge's ludicrous rules. "Okay sure. I'll get my coat and we can go." She said. They had already cleaned up so there wasn't any harm in going out for a bit. She hurried up to her room and shut the door for a moment. She just stood there and thought to herself. 'Harry's here. In my house. And now what?' Her mind was spinning yet at the same time, things were moving so slow. She had Harry all to herself, the boy who brought rumors and drama and danger everywhere he went and he was at her house. She found herself oddly excited. She knew how she felt and maybe this would make things harder but at the same time, it could make things better. So much better. But how? Hermione looked to her cat and just went into her closet, not wanting to keep Harry waiting any longer.

Having snagged a red sweater, she headed back down. Harry was ready to go as well and with that, they headed outside. She locked the door behind them and pocketed her keys. "Sometimes it's hard to not use spells for simple stuff when you get so used to it." She smiled a little and glanced down to her boots. She had tucked her wand inside her right boot, just in case. With the attacks and paranoia swirling around them, she needed to be able to defend herself if the need should arise. And she was sure Harry was armed as well. She wouldn't blame him if he was. Actually, she'd be more surprised if he didn't have his wand on him at the moment. But she decided not to bring it up. They needed to talk about school or anything else like that.

It seemed like, for the moment, they were safe, outside of everything else that tried to bring them down. "So tomorrow we can head to the library if you want. Or we can go into town and just window shop." She said. Speaking of which, she did need to get something for Harry. She had an idea in mind already. Christmas was only a few days away but what she had in mind would take more time, rather than money. Unlike the boy-who-lived, her parents didn't have a large bank account but she was fine with the simple things. That was something she and Ron had in common, they were used to surviving on a little. Then again, Harry was used to it as well. It was why the three friends worked so well together, they were used to fighting for the important things and people in their lives. They weren't spoiled like Draco Malfoy.

As they walked along, she found herself growing more quiet. Something was coming to mind but she didn't really want to get into it. But she still couldn't help but wonder about Harry and Ginny and Harry and Cho. She wanted her friend to be happy and if he was happy with either girl, that was fine, she would back off but she just wasn't sure. Keeping her mouth shut, she folded her arms over her chest to keep warm. It wasn't raining or snowing per say, but there was a mist in the cool air. They got to the park and Hermione quickly took a seat on one of the vacant swings. "I think my parents want to take us out tomorrow night and cut down a tree." She commented, trying to get back to a safe topic. "But don't worry, we're not the family who goes around caroling." She laughed a little and pushed herself on the swing, her toes digging into the most sand under them.

Upon finding her the blue eyed Doctor couldn’t help but grin, in a way it was a relief to find someone he ‘semi-recognized’ considering she was John Smith’s student and had spent some time with him. So in a way it was a bit comforting for the Doctor to have Rose by his side and he was even soothing to have another person with him. The Doctor remembered what it was like to be alone especially after what he’d done that was something he’d never be able to get over. Was it still eating away at his regenerated self? So many questions was burning through the man’s mind he wanted answers but right now that was the least of his worries, he needed to find his TARDIS.

“I couldn’t do that to you. Plus with the times we’ve spent the past few days? You’re fun to hang out with, it’s nice having someone not from this time to talk to” the Time Lord grinned “Don’t get me wrong I do love Hogwarts and everything about it but some new but comfortable company is really fantastic if you want my honest opinion” Thankfully with Rose by his side which was in fact quite a fun adventure of sorts, as they walked the Doctor heard her mention of the Marauder’s map. He stopped for a moment and pondered then immediately shook his head “Well even with the TARDIS having a soul that isn’t an exact foot print she isn’t human or anything of the sort, the map can’t trace her which is a shame really. But no worries we’ll find her” as the two headed up and reached the first floor he could hear his sonic emitting a noise and slowly he reached into his leather jacket pocket and pulled it out. Holding it up to his ear he heard the call of the TARDIS and then messed with the frequencies of the device before following it down the hall.

Heading up to a regular closet door the two stopped as the sonic was pulsating rapidly with light and beeps. Switching the signal off on the sonic the Doctor opened the door and before his very eyes was his TARDIS. The look of absolute amazement showed in the Time Lord’s eyes, reaching out he pat the wooden box “Glad you’ve been safe” reaching into his jacket pocket he pulled out the key and unlocked her, opening the door and heading in. A feeling of pure relief washed over the blue-eyed man as he headed over to his control panel “Nothing wrong at all… minus a few bumps and scratches but all is still fully functional" he beamed. It was then Rose’s voice reached his ears, the Time Lord turned his attention to her “I have my TARDIS I can go anywhere in the universe” he stepped back and leaned against it, his arms over his chest as he smiled to her “You don’t have to if you don’t want to” seeing her glance toward the exit the Doctor pushed himself off the panel and stepped toward her. "It's all up to you, Rose"

“You can come with me, if you’d like. Being stuck in this stuffy school having to do homework, getting detention… quite the awful year, yeah?” turning his gaze to the TARDIS for a moment he brought it back to her "So, shall we?" he waited for an answer and soon a cheerful grin formed upon his lips "Fantastic!" not needing another word the man raced for the controls "It's time to break her in again.. poor ol' girl she's been in hibernation mode for more than a year and a half. I'll show you the stars, planets anything and everything, Rose" the man held such enthusiasm in his words as he spoke about what lay beyond the stars of this world "I'll take you see something amazing then if you want… I can take you home but…" he slowly turned his brilliant blue eyes to her with a smile "for now? Let's take the TARDIS for a spin before you make your choice."

The Doctor held quite the confident smile as he set a course for the TARDIS and with a final switch a lever the machine wheezed and huffed as they took off in flight. "somewhere other than a stuffy hall for supper, shall we? I can take you to one of my favorite places to eat and have a nice proper meal. How's that sound to you?" After taking her to a different time but still on earth to a restaurant in the early 1800's they were then boarded on his TARDIS once more soaring through space and finally after arriving to where he wanted to show her "I told you I'd show you something amazing, Rose" he walked up to her taking her hand as he led her to the doors and threw them open to reveal the birth of a new star forming in the galaxy on the earth's constellation.

After explaining the Time Paradox and the threat that was to come, the brown eyed Time Lord didn't really have much of an appetite after that so he stuck to drinking his tea while he and Luna conversed. To his surprise she wasn't afraid, or at least he couldn't pick up any traces from her body language or a look in her eyes from where he was sitting yet her words of comfort reached his ears. It seemed that was the calm aura he'd been needing. Her words of encouragement soothed the feeling of dread that had been rising in his hearts at the realization of a Time Paradox but after hearing Luna speak in such a way? A definite calm washed over the worried Time Lord's body as it showed in his body language. His shoulders eased and his whole posture was a bit more lax, which had been something he hadn't done after finding out who the other Time Lord was, yet this? it was nice. "You're right, Luna, more than right" a calm and comfortable expression crossed the man's face as they continued to talk.

Time had passed and it was soon supper, the two heading to the Great Hall where they'd began normal discussion and were joined by two other professors as time went on and thankfully no Umbridge which was a relief for them all. As dinner came to an end the Doctor headed out with the Luna the two making their way up to the astronomy tower. As they headed up the stairs the Doctor's eyes looked in tower as a whole as he headed over to the railing and slowly leaned against it as his eyes looked around at the beautiful grounds of Hogwarts the clouded sky which he hoped it had been clear to see the moon and stars better. Mainly for Luna's sake than his own. As he leaned there his eyes scanned the area below and to his surprised he could see the TARDIS in her resting spot. That warmed his hearts for a moment, then it came, Luna's voice. It was then the Time Lord turned his focus to her as he listened to her words carefully.

So she knew? She understood? Could she sense his worrisome uncertainty about the ordeal that was to happen in due time? Was he that easy to read or was she just that observant? Well whatever the case may be, she certainly read him without much effort, perhaps it was the unexplainable connection they held? It wasn't long after that she question reached his ears, slowly the brown eyed Time Lord turned his attention to the silver eyed witch at his side. At first there was a look of uncertainty within those dark brown eyes but soon a spark shone bright within them, a smile tugged at his lips "Luna, you are brilliant!" his smile formed into a Cheshire cat type grin "That's a marvelous idea, a vacation, a simple yet luxurious vacation away from all this dread and darkness. I know the perfect place" reaching out he held out his hand and took hers before heading down the stairs, even further down all the way to the first floor of the castle.

Once out of the castle, still keeping a hold on her hand, a rather frantic though enjoyably frantic Time Lord raced through the forest toward his TARDIS. Not even reaching for his key he snapped his fingers, the door swinging open and once inside with Luna he released her hand and slid toward the control panel "An vacation to lighten the mood, yeah?" at this point the man's breathing was a bit of a pant as they'd hurried the entire way from the astronomy tower to the TARDIS which he had to admit was quite the distance but it was worth it. "Somewhere nice, comforting and a delicate pace? …" his mind wandered. Would he be able to sit long? Well he supposed perhaps he could for some alien desserts, the Doctor did love his sweets. "I have the perfect place in mind" setting the coordinates for his TARDIS and with a gentle hum of the machine they were off and into space.

A nice cozy bistro on the planet Barlene which held a calm and peaceful atmosphere. Walking in with Luna the Doctor asked for a table for two and once seated he began to explain the different desserts to Luna and finally ordered an array of sweets and drinks native to the planet but still edible for humans and in his opinion quite delicious as well, his favorite of the them all being 'nastro zuppa' which looked like colorful ribbons of noodles with glowing violet and aqua speckles in a creamy pudding like substance the flavor sweet but slightly tangy in a candy type way.

The talking over tea and cookies was nice for a change, sure they could do that at Hogwarts at any time, but this? this right here in the muggle world with Hermione? It was something that Harry couldn't argue with, it was quite comfortable beyond compare to be honest. No sense of magic, no sense of dreading doom it was actually quite peaceful for the green eyed boy as he sat there with his best friend. When she mentioned the park and cinemas, after making his choice and watching Hermione get to her feet and head off to get something for the cold weather. Harry moved to the coat rack and plucked his winter sweater from earlier, it wasn't long after when Hermione joined him again and the two were on their way outside.

After Hermione locked up the door Harry couldn't help but smile to her words about spells "Yes, magic is quite useful and becomes a habit to use and depend on" as they walked Harry took in a deep breath, drawing in a fresh breath of clean crisp cold winter air and to him it was nice yet it didn't smell as clean and pure as it did at Hogwarts, that was one of the downfalls of the muggle world, the air pollution. When she mentioned plans for the next day Harry smiled to her words "Both of those ideas sound great, Hermione" he glanced to her with a calm and collective, ease of comfort upon his face a smile upon his lips. Just being with her. Hermione, his best friend, the one who was with him every step of his journey so far, she was absolutely brilliant and he truly cared about her so much. Being with her during this time? It was more than he could ever ask for, Hermione Granger, she brought out the best in him, as they walked memories, good memories of their previous years began to run through his mind.

As they walked Harry noted (after snapping out of his own thoughts) that Hermione had gotten strangely quiet but why? What could possibly be bothering her? Turning his gaze to her a somewhat worried expression crossed his facial expressions and on reaction to her silence the boy reached out to take a hold of her hand but she had pulled it away before his even got close and she crossed her arms over her chest as they walked. Whatever it was that was swimming through her mind, was it really that bad? Oh Harry, how oblivious he was, sometimes too oblivious which was a shame. Then again, he did sense that something was wrong, he just couldn't put his finger on what it was at the current moment in time, he hoped to figure it out later.

Still the boy wanted her to know that he was there, for whatever it was that she wanted to discuss and moved closer to her, an arm going around her as they walked, gliding into step with Hermione so they walked comfortably side by side. Within no time at all the pair made it to the park, it was a very nice, snow patched area, it was enough to ease the boy from the slightly tense aura that had hung in the air during the last few moments of their travels to get there. As Hermione pulled from his grasp to go sit on a swing, Harry walked over and took a light hold of the chains of the swing and moved back to give her a slight push, "Tree hunting tomorrow? well that sounds like fun" he thought back to growing up "it'll be a first for me. I was never allowed to accompany the Dursleys during their tree 'shopping'. So I’m actually looking forward to this" he gave a light laugh as she joked about the caroling, he was being sincere about the topic as well. having lived the life that he had, many of these 'family' things were new to Harry.

After a few pushes he moved close and hugged Hermione from behind, resting his head against her shoulder as he stood there enjoying the feel of her in his arms. He didn't think of it as bad, it was actually quite comfortable at that moment. "Thank you, Hermione" his words nothing more than a whisper "for inviting me to spend Christmas with you and your family" leaning in the green eyed boy placed a kiss upon her cheek "It means so much to me" he squeezed her ever so gently his arms before smiling to her as he sat down in the swing beside her.

The Doctor mentioned the perils of staying behind. "I know what happens in the future, there's no way I wanna be there when things get even worse." She huffed a little. Though Rose figured the Doctor, either one, would probably take her back home and that would be that. The other one though, the one she was with now seemed rearing to go anywhere, as if he had been fed lots of candy and sweets. She smiled a little, envious of his bright outlook. Things around Hogwarts lately, were anything but bright. She looked up to the Doctor, "Yeah let's get out of here." She finally replied. Even if it was just a small trip, she was itching to get away from it all. The man sprang into action, saying what he could show her, which was all beyond anything she could ever imagine. He promised her anything as well as everything. She smiled a little more and they were off. Having forgotten to actually hang on, she found herself stumbling as the TARDIS took them far away, which for now, may do some good with some paradox closing in on them.

The Doctor then said they could get out of the stuffy hall and get a real meal. "It's a date then-I mean plan." She said, not sure why that had been her automatic response. It seemed he didn't take notice to her slip up as they whizzed about the vortex, being taken millions of light years away from the wizarding school where Harry Potter resided. They were taken to a nice place to get a bite to eat, which they got to go so they could eat elsewhere. They then headed off yet again and this time it was to the middle of space itself. She took hold of his hand as he led her away from the controls toward the door of the TARDIS. "Wow." She smiled as it was then revealed, a glistening star and Earth down below in the distance. Rose saw the star forming, gravity and other particles taking on their own cosmic role in the sky of outer space. "This is way more than amazin'!" She laughed.

Looking to the Doctor, she couldn't help but feel her face light up. "It's...well...fantastic!" She laughed and then moved to take a seat in the doorway, letting her legs dangle into space down below the time and space machine. The Doctor took a seat beside her and she looked out into the abyss. It was incredible. When she first encountered the Doctor back home, the other one, he had mentioned such sights but now she was seeing it. She wasn't in danger. Instead, she was sitting beside someone else who actually listened to her and Rose was thrilled beyond belief. She had been dealing with so much drama that she didn't have much time to just reflect on everything. "Thanks, this is so cool. I mean really cool." Proper words seemed to fail her at the present. It was good to just clear her head and not worry about the world ending. "I think I needed to get out of there, one more second and I might have tried to beat the shit out of Draco again." Sadly he wasn't around to be her punching bag.

"Thank you, Doctor." She said, getting back to what mattered. "This is perfect." She said and reached out into the enchanting collage of colors and fragments. If only she could touch it.

There was a lull in the atmosphere before the Doctor responded to her suggestion. He was quick to act on it. He meant something about luxury but she didn't think about fancy places or anything. Even someplace simple but out of the way would suit her just fine. She wanted them to feel at ease. She just didn't want any sort of fuss, she was a simple girl who didn't need a lot of flash or flair. "O-okay." She took his hand and he swept them off, down the stairs of the large pillar down into the real part of the castle. They then hurried along toward the main exit. No one was around to stop or question them and even if someone had, they probably would have been able to brush any curious people off. Luna looked to the Doctor, glad to see him in better spirits but a little concerned about where he was taking her. Yes, she trusted him but she didn't want anything too extravagant. While she pondered on what to say, they plowed through the woods until they reached the TARDIS.

With a brisk snap of his fingers, it opened and he led them inside. He finally stopped pulling her along and focused on the console. She smiled a little and watched him. "A delicate place?" She blinked, unsure what he meant. But a comforting place would be nice. A mellow niche somewhere could do them both wonders. Luna looked around, there wasn't much she could offer up as a suggestion. The Doctor seemed to be mulling over, at great speed, the possibilities of their destination. Having finally settled on a place, he gave an announcement and they were off. The door opened once they settled in for a landing and the Doctor asked for a table for two. Luna looked around at their surroundings. it was quite fancy. She looked down at her attire, not feeling too comfortable with how under-dressed she was. They were seated and the Doctor gave a few orders to which Luna could sample. "This is so wonderful. I don't know what to say." She blushed and looked around.

There were some aliens lingering but rather than be fearful, she was more curious than anything else. She looked back to the Doctor as their plates and bowls of food were set down between them. She picked up her fork and examined everything, smelling and eating with her eyes before she would select her first taste. There was a piece of what resembled chocolate cake. She nabbed a bit and took a bite. She expected chocolate but instead, it was a mixture of coffee, coconut and blackberries. It had to consistency of a mouse. It was weird but not bad at all. She tried another dish, this time it was bread with bites of some sort meat. This was all so new for her but she was enjoying it. "It's all so different and interesting." She said as she took a drink. It was sweet, a mixture of fruits she couldn't even begin to describe. She looked to see the Doctor eating some colorful noodles. Luna smiled at him and sat back in her seat. This all felt like a dream.

Which was better than the nightmare she had been living in days ago. She was so grateful to the man in front of her. "I hope I can help you when the time comes but for now, let's enjoy this." She said to him.

- - -

Harry moved over, behind her and pushed her gently. She wished she could keep her feelings in line. Harry was going through a lot. They all were. But here they were alone, away from it all and she couldn't help but think about him and them. Ron wasn't around. Ginny and Cho weren't around. it was just them and it felt right and Hermione almost wished it didn't. She pressed her lips together and kept looking ahead. It was only their first night together and here she was, trying to keep things in check. Harry was her friend. Her friend. That was it. Nothing else. Hermione felt him pull her back a little so he could rest his chin on her shoulder. She found it hard to think of anything, anyone but the boy behind her. His arms held her close and she couldn't help but find it incredibly difficult to think of anything relating to Christmas. She and Harry were teenagers and teenagers had feelings and thoughts and Hermione, who usually stuffed her mind inside books and essays, was finding it difficult to think straight.

His voice reached her ear and she held her breath. Oh Merlin. She closed her eyes, forcing herself to listen to Harry and not just drift off. They were friends. Just friends. He thanked her for the invitation and then kissed her cheek. She opened her eyes and found her face becoming quite red and heated. Hermione, truth be told, had never kissed anyone. Sure, there had been rumors about her and Krum the year before but nothing had actually happened. And yet here Harry was, so close. He then moved to sit down beside her and she tried to rally her thoughts together. "I...you're welcome. I mean...I...the invitation is long overdue, you should have...come over years ago." He didn't deserve the sheer cruelty of the Dursleys. It wasn't right. "You're welcome here anytime." Hermione said faintly and swallowed. Breathe, Hermione. She looked off, even the cold around them couldn't break the flush across her face.

The girl dug her toes into the ground and swung herself. She could barely focus anymore. She hated herself for acting so girly. It wasn't like her to get this emotional. Then again, it wasn't like her and Harry to be miles away from the dangers of the magical world. Hermione wasn't sure what to say or even do. Sure, she wanted to do one or two things but they were completely illogical. No no, she had to just think about Christmas. It was a time of people coming together and celebrating. If she did something foolish or selfish, she couldn't take it back. She needed to think of something besides her best friend right now but nothing seemed to suffice. Talk about his God Father? No. Talk about Umbridge. No way. Ron? Urgh. Hermione felt like there was a cloud hanging over her the more she tried to ignore how she felt but it would seem so out of nowhere. They were friends. Period. "It's good to have this to ourselves." She found herself speak. "The park is so lively but like this, here, I mean with you, I kind of like it." She smiled and pushed him sideways, gently from her swing.

"It's different from what I'm used to but it's better this way. I'm glad you're here." She said. It seemed perhaps her statement could have been a metaphor for how she felt. Who knows.

Sitting beside Hermione upon the swing next to hers, Harry wasn't sure what was going through that head of hers but he was rather curious. Turning his gaze the boy looked to her through forest green eyes and it was then he noted to himself mentally that she was blushing. This caused the male's eyebrows to raise in surprise, he hadn't seen her blush much throughout the years so this? It was something new and Harry had to admit to himself that it made her look even more beautiful. Wait, beautiful? that word, describing Hermione began to swim through his mind. Did he truly think that? Well, sure she was very pretty but.. beautiful? Harry could feel his heart pick up in pace at the thought as he sat there his eyes taking in her appearance as a whole. Whether it was the lights bouncing off the surface of the snow, hitting Hermione's face with a such a tender glow, such the perfect accent of highlighting to her face. Harry was actually seeing a tender side of Hermione, one he'd never fully allowed himself to partake in.

'Hermione…' the image of Hermione descending down the stairs the previous year looking absolutely beautiful in that gown during the ball slowly formed within his mind. 'She looked absolutely breath taking..' in that moment the boy-who-lived actually wanted to give himself a kick in the arse for not sorting through his feelings which at the moment he wasn't sorting through them now but he had an idea that Hermione meant so much more to him than he was actually admitting to himself. 'Why am I feeling this way? why haven't I given myself a chance to see this? why am I seeing this now?' so many questions. It was only night one of their Christmas vacation together and Harry could feel it in his heart that something had been amiss, all this time; and he was just now seeing things for what they truly were. Harry would have been lost in his thoughts if Hermione hadn't spoken when she did but how she spoke got the Gryffindor boy to look toward her with a look of surprise but was soon replaced with a calm smile.

'She's struggling with words, that’s a rarity, at least involving me. I wonder what she could have been thinking about.. could it have been .. no that's just silly.' he dismissed that notion all on its own but the more he looked to her after she spoke the first time he could still that blush was still there and didn't seem to be going anywhere or getting any lighter 'Maybe she's … or maybe she has all this time?' Harry couldn't describe the feeling that was welling in his heart. What was it? As she spoke again, Harry looked about the park and in that moment a sense of warmth enveloped him as he sat there "It's nice, I like it too" feeling her nudge him with her swing causing him to go sideways a tad his smile broadened as he nudged her back and waited for them both to stop swaying sideways before the extended his hand out and took a hold of hers. Hearing her final words the boy gave a squeeze to her hand, a gentle one at that. "I love it, I know we have times where its just the two of us but this? right here? It's.." he tried to gather his words "it’s a new experience. It’s a refreshing moment, a moment that I know in the future I'll look on this and …smile." was that because he finally figured out what he was feeling? What Hermione truly was to him?

At that moment Harry wasn't even sure he just knew that being with Hermione, slowly beginning to realize everything that they had been through, everything that had yet come to pass. He knew she'd be there with him and he knew he'd need her by his side. Hermione always brought out the best in him and he was realizing that now, but was there more?

Luna Lovegood, oh how she held such a tender and good natured soul, the Time Lord couldn't help but be drawn to her. Her personality, her curiosity and it even surprised him that she didn't shy away or cower, instead she took it on whole heartedly. Once they were seated, the Time Lord could see that something was bothering her. His eyes glanced around the place, there were a few other species that weren't dressed extravagantly and him? Well.. he was always in his suit and tie with converse sneakers so at lot of the times he'd be 'over dressed' for occasions. Hearing her speak finally the Time Lord smiled to her words then that smile broadened upon seeing a blush. As if Luna Lovegood couldn't get any more adorable in his eyes, that blushed suited her perfectly. Once the desserts were served the Doctor didn't move, didn't budge a finger and waited for Luna's pick at the treats she wanted to out. Yet when the Nastro Zuppa was set down on the table, the Time Lord didn't waste a second and reached for the small bowl and took it up in his hands, taking up a spoon he tasted it. A look of joy spread across his features as he took another spoonful into his mouth.

Taking a moment to enjoy the flavors on his tongue the Time Lord finally pulled from his enjoyment, his eyes opening as he looked toward Luna a calmness about this moment, a soothing aura around them both. It was a nice moment, the Doctor was in fact enjoying himself. Which was something he hadn't really gotten a chance to do. Well, with Luna he was able to escape the darker parts of his mind and able to focus on the task at hand without slipping into that dark, dreaded, treacherous areas of his mind and memories. Luna was keeping this Time Lord afloat in the face of Danger where he would have probably done something extremely stupid if on his own. If no stupid then extremely dangerous would have resulted in a force of regeneration upon him. But right now? With Luna by his side? There was just something about her, something that lingered in the air, she held a trait that at this moment he couldn't put his finger on but it was one of reasons why the Doctor treasured this witch before him. Sure they just met, but the connection between the two was ever so strong. 'Where would I be now if it wasn't for Luna? Someplace dark, somewhere I'm more than certain I don't even want to go'

Hearing her final words, the man couldn't help it when a smile touched his lips "You're helping me even now, Luna Lovegood, more than you could possibly know" truth be told the Doctor needed someone in his life to keep him grounded and keeping his thoughts and ideas level headed, to keep from slipping. and right now? Luna was that someone. Not just a companion, he didn't let just anyone into his spaceship, when he chose a companion it wasn't just anyone. He didn't know why he chose the people that he did, he only knew 'who' he chose and what they held to him and right now? Luna Lovegood held so much. "When the problem erupts, and it will. I know for a fact that your brilliance will shine and that inner strength of yours will push through and you will be right alongside your friends fighting the good fight. Because it's who you are, it’s a part of your soul, your very being."

"You, Luna Lovegood, hold such a big heart, you're full of true honesty and dedication, a love for your friends that goes unmatched. You are a truly brilliant being and I'm glad I'm able to see you for who you are. I know things are foggy now" he extended his hand over and placed it over hers a warm smile touching his lips as he stared into her silver eyes "But in time you will figure out who you truly are and I will be here with you every step of the way"

Rose Tyler, there was something about that spunky human girl, something that perked up and drew in the Time Lord's intrigue of interest. She was fun, easy to talk to and from what the Doctor could remember (With John Smith's memories) she was quite the feisty one too. After dinner then the TARDIS soaring through time and space the spaceship having stopped and hovered above the earth in the planet's constellation of stars the Time Lord threw open the doors to reveal the birth of a new forming star. Standing there the blue eyed man looked to Rose's face after opening the door and actually felt relief upon seeing her smile even more so at her exclaimed excitement followed by her laugh, at this point the Time Lord was grinning and feeling rather proud of himself. Leaning against the doorway, his arms crossed over his chest as he gazed out at the star "It's beautiful, all the particles of light forming and merging into a new born star.

Moving over he sat down beside Rose, allowing his feet to dangle beside hers over the TARDIS as his blue eyes shone with the bright alluring glow of the forming star before them. HIs ears picked up on her words "cool, eh?" his eyes moved to focus on her "I think Fantastic works but cool, that's acceptable" he teased her with smile. But as she spoke of Draco and wanting to beat the shit out of Draco his smile turned to more of a smirk "Since I'm now a retired professor I would actually allow that. We both know he deserves it, but he's nothing but a spoiled brat with parent issues. the whole misunderstood child and … though as cliché as that sounds it's who he is really" the Time Lord didn't want to dwell on the blonde snot nosed Slytherin much longer than he had and looked to switching the topic.

Her thanks to him registered in his mind as the Doctor looked to her "No need to thank me, Rose, we both know that this is the perfect scenery to bring forth those relaxing and comforting vibes." he placed his hands on either side of himself and leaned forward turning his gaze back to the cluster light orbs before them "This right here is the universe in its finest. The galaxy expands, things die, others waste away or drift into a pocket of time but this? this is birth, this is how life was created. Particles, orbs, essences. The pieces of life forming into to one mass, one creation." he was drifting into his memories, his voice low. "When you think it's over… Life.. never really ends. Life is born, can be taken away but nothing ends. all of time, all of space. life is reborn" he finally snapped out of his temporary trance.

"Like this star right here, at this very moment." whether he made sense to her or not, he was sure his rambling would be confusing to follow, if she was able to follow it he'd be amazed. Slowly bringing his blue eyes to her the Doctor smiled as he reached up and placed a hand upon her shoulder "Thank you, Rose, for coming with me. " he remembered what it was like to be alone, but to have someone here? It felt amazing. "It feels fantastic to be able to share this moment with someone. someone who will appreciate it and from what I've seen? I know you truly do"

'Hm, he liked fantastic things didn't he?' She mused.

Rose found it a bit amusing.

Yeah, Draco did have issues, a lot more than he probably knew about. She felt a little sorry for him but still, that didn't make his actions any less awful. He was such a git, she'd probably give him one last punch before she left, regardless if the Doctor approved or not. But it was good to know that he did. But if she was leaving the school once and for all (whenever that may be), consequences didn't really matter, like the homework and everything else. What did matter was unknown to Rose. She still had her home back in present day London. She had her mum and friends. But maybe she didn't have to go back, not yet anyway.

The man began to talk about life and how things could end but not necessarily die. He spoke of particles and everything space related. There was a bit of somberness to his tone, some of it hiding behind those dark eyes of his. Rose watched him, finding it a bit hard to follow his train of thought. She did grasp the general idea though and gave him a bit of a smile. The Doctor then looked to her and placed his hand on her shoulder. Rose got the general idea, things moved on, changed but they were still living things, that hope was never really dead. Something like that. He then thanked her for coming with him. At first she wanted to brush off his thanks since she was the one who owed him. Well they sort of owed one another.

Had it not been for her, he would still be someone else. But had it not been for him, she'd still be somewhere else. It sort of worked out in both of their favors. She smiled at his compliment and her grin grew wider. "I'm really glad to be here." She told him. Still, they knew so little about one another, Rose had a feeling she could trust the Doctor. She looked back out over the constellation. It was very pretty, she had only seen pictures and documentaries but this was the real thing. And it was, as he put it, fantastic. "Is there any place you haven't been?" Rose asked him. While the possibilities were endless, she still had no idea where to go or even who she would be going but for now, it felt good. And she hadn't felt that in a while.

"The unknown isn't so scary." She shrugged a little. "Not if ya got fantastic company. And I promise to be just that." She grinned.

The Doctor was very complimentary towards her but Luna couldn't help but feel some pressure. She was older, she knew more and thus things were expected of her that wouldn't be, say two weeks ago. While she did enjoy the surge of power and control, she really had no practice with her newly matured mind or body. Luna glanced down, trying to steady her thoughts. The Doctor then said that she was brilliant, among other blush worthy things. He finished by putting his hand over hers and said he'd by her side when she did figure everything out, she did appreciate that. She was still learning about herself and things back at Hogwarts were still up in the air. Danger was coming but they didn't what or from where.

Still, she didn't feel nervous or uneasy.

Actually, the blond wasn't sure what to call her feeling presently.

Instead, she just went back to eating, as her redness faded. Luna looked around from time to time, people came and went. The area was nice and out of the way it seemed. She looked to the Doctor who seemed happy with himself. When they had finished eating, they looked around the bistro for a bit, he spoke of the different aliens they came across and Luna made sure to try and remember them as best she could. It really wasn't easy, she envied the man who could remember everything but she supposed in a sense that was a curse as much as a blessing. Luna liked being shown around though. Everything was bright, shiny and new to her.

And she was always happy to learn more things.

The meal had been good, as well as the small tour. She was ready to go to bed though. Luna wasn't sure if Time Lords slept or not but either way, going back to the school wouldn't be such a bad thing. One of the perks of having a master of time meant that they could use it wisely. Luna was tempted to ask him to take her to her father's house so she could talk to him or see him one last time. But she felt like she didn't need to rush things or appear as though she was using the Doctor. She didn't think he'd regard her request in such a way, but he had already been so kind to her, she thought one trip was more than good enough. "Thank you again, Doctor." Luna smiled gently to him as they got back into the TARDIS.

Hermione had been worried that she had caused some awkward tension but it didn't seem to be the case.

Harry soon replied, voice gentle and warm like sipping hot cocoa. He said that he liked it, that their time together presently was different but good and that looking back, he'd smile fondly. Hermione smiled shyly and glanced down. "I'm glad..." She replied and licked her lips. She waited a few more seconds before she got up and moved over to where Harry was. She gave him a bit of a push as he had done for her. She told herself, 'Don't be such a ponce, it's just Harry.' She thought but that wasn't even it. It was Harry. And she was with him, alone, at night, in a place that took her back to her lonely childhood of books and teasing. She gripped the chains on the swing above his head and swung her head down.

Now wasn't the time.

"I think we better head back before it gets too late." Hermione announced. She removed herself from him and turned to look at the other part of the park, vacant and cold. She turned back to Harry and tried to put any unusual feelings behind her. The last thing she wanted to do was complicate things and ruin the holiday. She walked back with him and they talked about the next few days, what they could do. Sadly their professors had sent them back with homework but Hermione was confident, as usual, that they could get it done and out of the way in no time. "I bet Ron has already forgotten he has work to do." She laughed as they got back to her house.

Unlocking the door, she let them in, Harry first. After he entered, Hermione turned and locked it behind them and flipped on the light. She was glad nothing found them, nothing evil. She slipped her coat off and hung it up. Harry followed suit. "I guess we better get to bed." She said to him. "I may stay up and have some tea first, to warm up. You're welcome to join me but don't feel like you have to." Hermione said and headed into the kitchen to get the water boiling. She leaned against the counter and watched the kettle. The fire was up high enough so it wouldn't be too long until it came to a boil. Hermione was tired but she kept thinking back to being in the park with Harry and that made her wide awake.

How on earth could she sleep? Tea had to be the answer.
