John watched as he bought all of that candy. Wait, why? He watched quietly, giving Sherlock a confused look, until he started splitting it all between them. He grinned. "Thanks!" He said, picking up a one of the chocolate frogs and looking at it curiously. "Wait they actually.... move?" He asked, and carefully opened it, only to have a chocolate frog launch itself at his face. He quickly was able to grab it, and examined it, before just eating it. He brightened a bit. "Hey, that's actually pretty good." He swallowed. "But it's a bit strange." He said, chuckling a little. He than examined the liquor ice wand, examining it a bit. He was very curious about all of this stuff. "This doesn't... do anything, does it?" He asked hesitantly, before unwrapping a bit of the plastic and taking a bite.

"No problem," Sherlock replied in a mumble as he finished his pumpkin pasty. "I normally wouldn't buy this much anyway but today I'm hungry..." He looked a bit miffed about that. After all hunger normally didn't bother him too much. He ate now and then when it suited. He was sure that this would be enough to last the day. He would need his mind later so he didn't want to slow it down to much. "Yes, as you can see," Sherlock laughed lightly as the chocolate frog launched itself at John's face. "There's also a chocolate frog card in there. I would recommend taking it because quite a lot of people collect them..." He had, once, but stopped when he'd realised it was a waste of his time. Slightly childish, too, but he could see why the other children would do it. "And yeah it takes a while to get used to the fact that it moves." He opened on of his own, quick to grab the frog and pop it in his mouth before it had any chance to escape. "No, it's literally just a wand made of liquorice. Bit disappointing if you ask me. That and the jelly slugs are pretty normal."

John nodded quickly. "Alright than. At least not everything is weird." He said, offering a teasing little grin to Sherlock, before finishing off the liquor ice wand. He looked to the jelly slugs next, seeming both confused and a bit hesitant. "Jelly slugs?" He asked, and instead reached for his own pumpkin pasty, taking a bite and smiling at the taste, which he found rather delicious. "Why are they called jelly slugs? You said they're normal, so they don't... taste like slugs or anything, do they? Cause I would think that would be rather disgusting." Not that he'd ever tasted a slug before, but... oh come on, they looked gross, how could they taste better? Wouldn't they be all slimy and... He had to hide a little shudder at the thought, just because it seemed so disgusting. But that couldn't be what they were, right?

"That is true," Sherlock replied with a shrug as he opened the packet of jelly slugs and chewed on one while he replied to John concerning those very things. "They don't actually taste like slugs. They're basically gummy sweets that look like slugs. I think they're similar to the muggle... Jelly snakes? I think." He swallowed with a smile. "They're nice, though. Unhealthy but nice. Not like slugs... Which are pretty horrible." He made a face. He may or may not have tried eating a slug when he was younger as an experiment. Because, after all, snails were a delicacy in France so maybe slugs would be nice. Turned out that they really were not. Safe to say that had never happened again. He grimaced slightly as he reached for his liquorice wand, taking a few bites and eating it. It was okay... He'd never been all that fond of liquorice. Preferred other sweets. He was quite glad Mycroft had left before the food trolley had come. He wouldn't approve even though he ate copious amounts. Far more than Sherlock did.

John took one, taking a bite, and smiling. "Your right, they're actually pretty great!" He said, finishing it, and than taking one more of his chocolate frogs, opening it and quickly catching the frog, eating it. He looked at the card that Sherlock had mentioned earlier, and took it out, looking at the name. "Rowena Ravenclaw? Whose that?" He asked, looking to Sherlock to see if he had the answer. He looked back down and almost had a heart attack. "Why... I'm going insane. I swear to God, there was a picture right there." He said slowly, looking at it and turning it over, trying to get it. Was it some kind of joke or prank? He knew that paintings and pictures moved, because he'd seen them in some fo the stored he'd had to go to to get his supplies. He placed the card down slowly. Why would it disappear, though? Shouldn't it still... be there?

"Aren't they," Sherlock grinned as he took another jelly slug. Happened to be among his favourites. Even if disliked slugs. A lot. He couldn't wait until they were old enough to go to Hogsmeade. Then he would get to visit honeydukes... The sweets in there sounded amazing. "She is one of the four founders of Hogwarts and was in charge of Ravenclaw house." He smiled. "I should probably explain more. Basically there were four founders of Hogwarts - Godric Gryffindor, Salazar Slytherin, Rowena Ravenclaw and Helga Hufflepuff. They each selected students to be in their houses for school and that's how it all started. Basically everything is done in houses. You're always in class with your house and usually one more, you share a dorm with the other members of your house in the same year and of the same gender, there are specific dining tables for the houses but I think it is possible to sit with friends at other houses after the first night... It's pretty big. There's also the house tournament, where the house with the most points wins, and the quidditch tournament. I don't know anything about quidditch and I don't care. If you wan to know about that ask Lestrade, he's on the team. He'll be captain next year when the current one leaves undoubtedly. I can explain about each of the houses if you really want though." He tried not to laugh as John asked about the picture leaving. "Well you wouldn't expect her to stay in your card the whole time? She does have other things to do... She's undoubtedly gone on a trip to join someone else in a picture. Probably another card. They quite like to visit their fellow paintings and pictures."

John was just a little overwhelmed with the information he was given. His eyes were wide, but he nodded. "Oh... okay." he smiled brightly. "Maybe we'll be in the same house! That would be pretty great, wouldn't it?" He asked, as he picked up his last chocolate frog and at it, looking at the card. Godric Gryffindor. So he was another founder, based off of what Sherlock said. John wasn't surprised when he disappeared too. "That's so strange. Isn't it kind of creepy to have pictures and paintings moving and watching you all the time?" He frowned a little. "There's horror movies about that in the muggle world, you know." He looked at the cards again, and than took up one more jelly slug, eating it slowly, and watching out the window for a moment before looking back to Sherlock. John's eyes were still a bit wide.

"Sorry, that was a bit much," Sherlock murmured sheepishly, glancing out the window. "When I start talking about something I know about I...talk." He smiled slightly, though he looked a bit nervous. "Yeah, that would be great but I don't think it will happen. Just... Of all the possibilities I can foresee you end up in Gryffindor or Hufflepuff and I end up in Ravenclaw or Slytherin." He smiled slightly, though, it being hard to feel at all down in John's company. "But you never know... And even if we're not we'll have some classes together and we'll be able to spend time together... Not seeing each other every minute will just make what time we spend together better?" He wasn't sure. He assumed that if John wanted them to be in the same house, thought it would be great, then he wanted to spend time with Sherlock. Did that make them friends? He hoped it did. "It can be... That's why I avoid them mostly." He grinned. "And Mycroft seems to get on with them and use them for spies so I would be wary." He opened his chocolate frog, quickly eating it and looking at the cards he had gotten. "I got Merlin and Albus Dumbledore..." He held them out to John. "Here, have them. I already have both... Somewhere at home."

(Omg that happens to me all the time. >.< So it's fine, obviously :3)

John laughed a little. "It's a good thing I'm a good listener than." He said, grinning, but than he slowly frowned a little. "Hmm... well, we should still be friends." He said, looking like he was thinking for a moment. He shook away the worried thoughts that had invaded his mind, and looked up with another smile, settling back into his seat. "You mentioned that Greg was on the 'Quidditch' team? I don't think I read about that, but I feel like it must be important." He liked listening to Sherlock talk. He was smart, and John definitely trusted him to give him true information, and not trail off to something random. John had a good feeling that they'd become best friends. He hoped the houses didn't actually have rivalries. He would want to make friends in whatever house he was put into, but he wanted to remain friends with Sherlock.

(Yeah, like the page doesn't load and stuff xD So annoying, and I'm glad :))

"Yes, definitely, most people... They just tell me to shut up," he smiled. "You're one of the few who put up with it... And yes. Yes, definitely. Definitely still be friends." He bit his lip, feeling like he was rambling a bit. Repeating himself. But he wanted to be John's friend, he really did, and he also really did not want to mess it up. John was the only one that put up with him that Sherlock wanted to spend time with him, and they hadn't been in each other's company for all that long. "Ah, yes... I don't know much about Quidditch but I can try to explain it. Its pretty simple. It's a sport, obviously, and I think its similar to the muggle football in its popularity. There is a tournament within the school between the different houses. Each team consists of seven players; Three chasers, two beaters, a keeper and a seeker. I'm not sure exactly what they all do. Anyone from second year and above can try out to be on the team and if they are good enough they'll get a place. Lestrade plays as the keeper, I think. Basically the aim is to... Eh, win by scoring the most points. The game is over when the snitch is caught I think. Oh, and it's played on broomsticks..." He trailed off. "Sorry, I don't know that much about it." He looked quite embarrassed about it. He had never seen it as important information to know.

John chuckled - more like a giggle, but like hell he was going to admit that. "Sounds interesting. I'll have to ask Greg more about it." he said with a smile. He hesitated. "So I guess there are pretty big rivalries between the houses, huh?" He looked over at him. "I really hope we're put in the same house. I'd rather not have either of us get made fun of for being friends." He said, smiling. But he frowned again. "Wait, what do you mean people tell you to shut up?" He asked, tilting his head a little in confusion. "That's not fair. If you ever have trouble you come to me. And I'll..." He stopped, thinking. "Well, i'll find out a way to do something." He said, chuckling again.

"Yeah, he'll be more than happy to tell you all about it," Sherlock replied drily. "He likes it far too much. Talks about it a lot... I don't know how Mycroft can put up with it." He rolled his eyes before frowning. "Some. I think there's quite a big rivalry between Gryffindor and Slytherin and a more minor one between Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw. However not really between the others so friendships between them aren't seen as bad. Gryffindor and Slytherin though... It borders on hatred sometimes. Just hope we don't get sorted into those two house. The same ones would be nice." He glanced out of the window before nodding. "Yeah. Can't blame then... Some phrase it in a different way." He hesitated, eyes flickering to John. "Really? I can go to you?" He blinked, looking slightly confused before a warm smile spread across his lips. "Thank you, John."

(I'm really enjoying it too! I just want to cuddle Sherlock, omg...)

John laughed. "You're welcome, I guess. I haven't done anything yet, though." He looked out the window again for a moment, before looking back at him. "Sherlock?" He asked, looking a bit hesitant. "Don't take this the wrong way, but have you ever had real friends before?" He asked, looking a bit curious. Wasn't it normal for friends to have each others back? So why had Sherlock seemed so surprised when he had said he could tell John if he was being bullied, or something similar? John's friends back at his muggle school had always had his back, and he wanted to be friends with Sherlock. Was it.. different in the wizarding world/ He had never thought something that basic would change.
He smiled. "Not that it matters. I'm just curious." He looked at him, his eyes sparkling a bit. "I was being serious though. If you did need anything, you can ask me. If you don't go to Greg or Mycroft first." He said, chuckling a bit. Mycroft was his brother after all.

(Yay I'm glad you are! Me too xD I want to hug them both)

"But you said you will and that counts for something," Sherlock smiled. He looked quite thoughtful at John's question, staring out of the window for a few moments before answering. "No, I don't think so. Molly doesn't count... She just follows me around and adores me but we don't really have much in common. I don't want to spend time with her that much. Mycroft's my brother. We don't get on anyway. Lestrade's my brother's boyfriend, so he really doesn't count." He tilted his head. "Why are you curious about it?" He himself seemed as hesitant as John, and nervous. It was quite obvious that he wasn't the best at this kind of social thing. He didn't know what it meant being friends. He had heard about it and he had some vague idea from how Greg talked about his friends. But he didn't really know. He'd always been a bit of an outsider. Nobody wanted to do anything for him, apart from those with some kind of familial connection."And I'm glad," Sherlock smiled. "I'd rather go to you than them. Unless it was really serious... I don't like to ask Mycroft for help. That would put me in his debt." He made a face.

John laughed. "Bit of a sibling rivalry?" He asked, still chuckling a little. He and his sister argued all the time - well, that was until she started drinking, and left the house. His parents had been very angry about her being homosexual, which John didn't understand all too well at the time. Still didn't, really, why they had gotten angry. John didn't really care all that much about who his sister was with. "I was just wondering, I guess. It kind of makes me sad that you were alone for so long." He said, frowning a little. "Well, I mean not being with people you enjoy." He relaxed back into his seat again, leaning his head against the window. "But I guess it doesn't matter now, huh?" he asked, glancing at him. He sat back up. "By the way, when are we going to get to Hogwarts? It can't be that far away, can it?"

"You could call it that," Sherlock laughed lightly with a shrug. "Mutual hatred, really." Even though he would never admit it Sherlock didn't hate his brother. There had been a time when he had looked up to Mycroft and wanted to be like him. Of course that was no longer true, but Sherlock would still go to him if there was something terribly wrong. Or to Greg. Though he would never admit that he actually didn't mind Greg. "Oh... it wasn't to bad," Sherlock replied quietly. "Never met anyone who I wanted to spend time with, really. Maybe that'll change now that I'm going to hogwarts." The or maybe it is just you was left unspoken. Sherlock wasn't sure if he would get on with anyone else. John was the first person he wanted to be with. "It was fine, really. Though now I have someone I enjoy being with." He grinned. "And yeah, I guess not." He shrugged with a smile. "Well... It's in Scotland and we got the train in London. So it will take about 4 and a half hours at least assuming its near the border. I'm not really sure were it is. I don't think we get there in the evening, just in time for dinner."

John chuckled. "Right. I don't get along with my sister very ell, either, so I guess I can relate." He said, smiling. He almost felt a little blush coming when he Sherlock said he had someone he enjoyed being with now. But he shook it off. "Well, I hope you do. Especially if we get put in different houses. I would feel bad if you were lonely all the time." He looked out the window again, and yawned. "Well, I was forced to wake up early this morning. If this is really going to 4 1/2 hours like you said, I'm going to try and nap. Wake me up in an hour or so? Or if you get bored, I guess." He pulled his black cloak he was wearing tighter around him, trying to get warm and comfortable in the little corner next to the window he had nestled into.

"Yeah, you probably can," Sherlock smiled. "Though the two are probably very different." He doubted John's brother was going to pretty much become the leader of the world. Well he was sure that that was Mycroft's goal. Who really knew. "Yeah, and it's fine you don't have to worry about me. If I don't make friends I'll be fine... Alone is better than being with people I don't like." He shrugged slightly. "As you wish. I'll wake you up then... And I'll been fine for a bit. I have a book somewhere." Smiling at John he rummaged through his bag, pulling out a rather thick book. It seemed to be one on forensic science, quite a curious book for a young wizard to have. After all it was a muggle book. But Sherlock was interested in detective work and often the muggle methods were as good as magic, better for dark witches and wizards always expected the magic and made precautions against it. At least that was what he thought. It was also why he had an interest in chemistry. It was intriguing and really quite fun. Not that he didn't enjoy certain magical theory also. He pulled his knees up to his chest, back against the window as he began to read.

John quickly fell asleep, although woke up quickly when his dream about Hogwarts quickly turned bad when it just randomly blew up, killing everyone inside. He'd always been prone to nightmares, sadly, and had to often take sleeping medication because of them. He startled awake, feeling a bit of a cold sweat covering his body. He rubbed the sleep from his eyes, yawning. "Never mind, forget sleeping." He mumbled, looking out the window. It was going to be difficult sleeping in a dorm with other students if he kept screaming himself awake every night. He hated his nightmares - they were always of the most cliche things. His worst was when he dreamed of his family being murdered right in front of him, and he couldn't do anything because he was chained to a wall. He hadn't slept for days after that. His mind just apparently liked him to suffer when he was sleeping, which was irritable because than he was snappish the rest of the day.
