Are you okay with the idea that House Berning raided other lands for Mullen?

Yeah that's perfectly reasonable. Keilaudrin, the kingdom we're set in, was kind of etched out over only 150 years with a little conquest here and there and a lot of diplomacy, the latter of which is what is complicating things so much in the present. Any noble family would probably have been called on to fight or bring troops at some point.

History: Ragnar is the oldest of House Berning. He established a good relationship between his house and the king. In times of war, he leads a part of Kelaudrin's naval forces. He is the brother of Hal and the father of Tursgud.

The leader of the navy is a bit much, although I understand being a captain or the like in the kingdom's navy. Other than that, yeah it's good. I'd personally caution against running a third character when the thread's only the size and at the place it is, but that's up to you.

What are the lands to the north of Kelaudrin called? And are you okay if they plan an attack on Kelaudrin?

That would be Lachne, lime green on the map.

From the OOC intro post: '... loomed close by in the north, over the neighboring once-country of Lachne, now an ashen waste populated only by bandits and the desperate.'

As for whatever is happening in the country or what the bad news is, feel free to take it from there. Edit: I should always add a big huge 'Within Reason' to whenever I say something like that.

A more merchant/trader kind of character that's sarcastic.

Well actually that's a great concept for the thread. Keilaudrin is a coastal country and Mullen itself is on the coast so there's plenty of trade going through the city. Any prominent merchant would have a reason to be in town.
