The reason for his speed is so that St Francis doesn't have to use vehicles to travel long distances quickly. Also since St Michael can fly at supersonic speeds, I thought that it would not be too far fetched for Horin to fly at mach 2

St. Michael is a PC and an Angelic being, its much harder to swallow that creatures like Dragons or Griffins can go airplane speed, they may be magic but they still have to follow a few biological rules.

So, supposing I have a concept for a character that is a gadget hero who pretends to be a sorcerer and does battle with actual magic threats on occasion, what would the magic community's reaction be? Would they see right through him? I could make it so that he has familiarity with the supernatural and relatively minor ability, while he makes himself look more powerful with technology.

I think it would be awesome to have him pull a 'Wizard of Oz' and truck everyone. But I'm just wondering if he'd be ratted out by actual magicians.

Well like many settings, sorcerers can perceive when somebody else has a spark of the supernatural. So any serious wizard or witch would see right through it. Anyone that was paying enough attention would notice it too.

Destiny or any League sorcerer would probably out him to the other members, because that kind of deception is not needed and might actually be harmful in a team environment. That raises the questions of why he would even pretend to be a sorcerer because being a pure gadget hero is a valid choice. I could see him being a classic stage magician type with a sense of style though.

Thanks, Didact. So a stylized gadget hero with parlor tricks and knowledge of the supernatural. That can work perfectly well for all my intents and purposes.

What if he was like a low-level John Constantine who used gadgetry to exaggerate his ability, in order to make supernatural foes flinch and overestimate him.

Horin is powered by divine energy so his flight speed is increased by that. When it comes to supernatural powers almost anything can be possible.
