I saw the sequel last night. They were both good IMO, but I watch movies so rarely that anything looks good to me.

HAHA!

I'm waiting until all the Hobbit movies are out. Then I'll binge them in a 9 hour fest. If I can make it through that, they're good. I just don't think it's worth my time to sit in a theater for 3+ hours for a single movie, even one made by Peter Jackson.

The fight scenes were some of my favorite parts of the movie because of just how well choreographed they are. They get even better in the second movie.

I for one dislike the novel because its clearly written for kids (especially compared to how Tolkein wrote The Lord of the Rings), but I really liked how they adapted the novel to the movies. Even the copious amounts of stuff they added to the movies to fill them out that weren't in any way in the novels I thought was fairly tastefully done and entertaining.

While I'm surprised you didn't like much about them, everyone has different tastes, you're just the first one I've seen who wasn't a fan of the movie. o.o

It got to the point to where that I saw that the dwarves were in trouble, I knew Gandalf would save them in one form or another. All the dwarves survived (although they should have died at least 30 times, especially at the stone giant part) and when they came out alive, not a single one was injured. It's like, dafuq? I didn't read the book, but I still found much of it predictable.

Yeah, the book was written for kids. Of course none of the good guys die, which makes it pretty predictable.

Keep with it, it gets better!

Plus, most movies are pretty predictable, although it can be argued that we're talking about a book that's insanely old at this point, so it being predictable is kind of a moot point haha.

I think Jackson should return to his splatter roots for a bit and then tackle his blockbusters, maybe it would help... but really I just want another Braindead or Bad Taste

This movie series has moved so far away from the book and even the appendices it's hardly recognizable. It's just so wrong on so many levels. And fuck who ever decided to make an elf/dwarf romance subplot. BURN!

I liked them.

We are getting cool movies, I wish people would stop being little pricks about it. If you don't like it, don't watch it and move on with your life. And it's an old story, they change it from the book to keep up with the times, and yes, also money. And I'm glad that it's "predictable", I am fucking sick of all the stupid plot twists and betrayals that are in every fucking movie now. For once, I want to see a cool, "the good guys win and things are fucking awesome movie".

I read a review about it after I saw it where the person spent about one paragraph on the actual movie and the rest of the article on how "shameful it was for Jackson to make the female elf such a minor character and that she should have been a stronger feminine hero and shame on him for not doing that, I THOUGHT THIS WAS AMERICA!"

What the fuck is my point anymore, gah I want to kill something.

That's just retarded. She's not even in the books.

I do enjoy the movies for what they are but I cringed at so much lore breaking.

Most of the plot twists are predictable to me as well. And one question toes... How am I supposed to know if I will like the movies or not from just the previews alone? I would have to watch the movie to get my honest opinion.

And Idle... They're thinking of making a dwelf? I'd fuck that.
