For wind direction, I roll 1d8 and follow the points of the compass in a clockwise manner. ( 1 = NE and 8 = North )
If I want to choose from 16 points of the compass, I just flip a coin to see if I add 8 to the result of 1d8. (1 = NNE and 16 = North )

Yeah, its open and you're welcome to join.
Just generate a character with a pathfinder character sheet like the ones linked at the begining of this thread, using pathfinder's 25 point buy, and you can write that character into the storyline when you're ready. A divine spellcaster of some kind would probably be ideal, to serve as a means of support and recovery for the group. However, you're free to pick a character of any type.

Right now, the group is in the settlement of Cloak Wood, in its largest inn and tavern, the Everburning Hearth, still deciding which course to take in order to increase their fortunes and satisfy their curiosity.

I'm assuming the starting level is 5? What's our starting gold?

It seems that 10,500gp is the recommended starting amount at level 5. I wasn't around when this game first began and picked up its GM duties mid stride before the site's recent makeover, so I'm not sure if these players did anything differently.

This may sound like a silly question, but I was wondering if I could make a second character as well. I've been wanted to play a wizard character for a while now, and with the introduction of a mage guild, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to ask. :3

Yeah, if you want to make a wizard, I suppose you could write one in soon.
The guildhall is one of the places where they are recruiting for the scout patrols, before sending them to the town quartermasters and armories for organizing and briefing and deployment.
