[OOC] The Coven [American Horror Story RP]

Inspired by Ryan Murphy's American Horror Story, Season 3: Coven.



Witches are a dying breed. Hunted to near extinction for the past 400 years, the magical community's numbers have been rapidly dwindling into pure nothingness and dust.

Luckily, there are some actions being attempted to preserve the witch race. In New Orleans, Louisiana, there is a school for witches, where they learn to control and use their powers for good. But within the school, problems are arising. Childish pranks lead to devastating consequences. The students are using their powers for amusement rather than helping the common citizens. Some even hold the belief that regular humans with no magical powers should be crushed under foot and be eradicated or turned into slaves.

This RP is going to be set in the same house as in Coven, but not with the same characters. We have a clean canvas, it's just up to us to paint it. No Fiona, no Cordelia, no Zoe or Queenie.

The school is prospering better than it was when Zoe arrived, aka they have a lot more members and teachers.

If you have not seen American Horror Story: Coven but still want to participate in this RP, don't worry. There are only a few basic things you must understand.

1. The Supreme is the most powerful witch that looks over the Coven and makes some of its most important discussions, along with the Council of Witches, a group of three elected witches.
2. There are powers witches are born with, but any witch may also perform an oral spell, as long as it is within or bellow their level of magic.
3. Witches come in all shapes and sizes. Including genders. So, yeah, male witches! Woohoo!

On another note, I would like to introduce non-magical witches. These witches are within the blood lines, but have presented no power. They aid their magical siblings with potions and other remedies, like Cordelia often did.

The female witches have the left side of the house for dorms, while the boys have the right. The school's green house has been turned into a classroom educating the non-magical students about herbs.

Witch powers are very diverse and original. Queenie from the show was a friggin human voodoo doll. She can stab herself and it hurts others, basically. So make your power as unique as possible, but understand that the powers do have limits and consequences. I don't want a power house witch running around.

I will allow there to be player-controlled teachers, but I want a separate CS for the teacher.

Born Power (scratch this out if you want a non-magical character): She can make others feel her physical pain, but if she does attempt this power, she has the possibility of dying or blacking out

Appearance:

Personality: Despite her power, Reyna is unusually happy. Life before the Coven was depressing and sorrowful, but now, it seemed amazing. She often thought she was going to be a dud witch as a child. She's helpful and kind towards others, but she doesn't like being pushed around.

Bio/What led them towards the Coven: Reyna was in great poverty as a child. The hunters murdered her aunts and her father, leaving her mother and herself for dead. But then Headmistress Violet found her in a time of distress. Reyna hasn't used her born power since the incident. Sure, the bastard was going to rape her and he even killed her mother, but he was still a human being.

Appearance:

Personality when teaching: She is very serious when teaching her herbology class. VIolet detest things like piercing and tattoos, claiming they're a distraction and affect the students' magic. Really, she just doesn't like them.

Personality when not-teaching: Tired. Empathetic. Violet contains all these emotions when teaching, but the moment she's free and lets her students go, she's a regular woman in her 20s.

Bio/Why they're teaching: A family thing. The non-magical children of Violet's family always end up teaching.

Other: She hates piercings and tattoos. The students often make fun of her for looking like a teenager as well.

She is very much a pessimistic. Faeya is kind of a darker girl, but is still very caring and will take anyone in if knows they are kind. She takes her craft seriously and is usually seen reading about the Arts, writing spells, drawing, or making potions. She is blunt and sarcastic with a stubborn, feisty edge to her heart. Faeya is very wise to the world and can be called an "old soul" as some would put it.

When Faeya was just a baby, both of her parents were murdered by a hunter. That Hunter adopted Faeya and raised her to hate herself, sometimes beating it into her. This Hunter kept her as a slave in every sense of the word. When his friends would come over, he would loan her to them as if she were property. She was to live in a seperate house from the hunter's family, so she lived in the shed as property. She eventually ran away and stumbled onto the Coven when she was drawing on the ground out of boredem and suddenly her drawing came to life as the Coven leader walked past her. The leader took her in and Faeya had been there ever since.

She has a familiar named Shadow, which is a black cat with blue eyes. She usually walks around the house if she isn't by Faeya's side. Also, Faeya has scars on her body that will never go away. She usually dresses in black and dark colors and is sometimes messing around with facepaint. She is always doing something artsy or witchy.

Alistair is able to materialize his memories into objects and he can also make people's perception of time very slow.

Personality:
Alistair often daydreams, this often places him in awkward situations regarding his aloof behavior. Alistair is quite easy to talk to and get along with, as long as he isn't interrupted when he starts to daze off with a glazed look in his eyes. He is usually described as being a sweetheart, as he likes to tag along with many people and tries to get to know them. Alistair does this because he doesn't like to be a social outcast, this is because he normally is seen like a loner when he's drifting alone by himself; it makes him
stand out.

Bio/What led them towards the Coven:
Alistair was a peculiar boy growing up. He talks to himself, had rarely any friends and he seemed to talk about things that other people seemed to know of. Sometimes he would visualize and talk to imaginary friends, his favorite one to talk to was named Zach. Alistair would spend hours upon hours talking to Zach and this always leads to arguments between his parents.
Alistair had a short attention span and selective memory, this was because of the gift he did not know he possessed. At the age of ten he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, but this baffled medical experts as Alistair forgot how to read, write and speak. Over the course of a week at the hospital he had miraculously learned expert medical science by tapping into the thoughts of the doctors that worked in the medical center. Because of this, Alistair was admitted into the Coven, so he can expand his knowledge of witchcraft and tone his abilities.

Other: Zach is basically more or less a Spirit attached to Alistair.

Name: Jarrod Holt

Gender: Male

Age: 19

Born Power: Jarrod has power over paper and regularly practices his origami, with more intricate creations obviously taking longer. For example, he could make an origami swan out of paper and it would fly around the room, or an origami sword that's as sharp as a real one (but burns like paper and gets soggy if water is poured over it). He can also send pieces of paper flying across the room, but victims rarely get anything worse than a series of paper cuts.

Appearance:

Personality: Jarrod is usually a kind, easygoing sort of person who likes to take life and studies at his own pace, doing his best to see the good in everybody. He loves being outside and around nature, be it lounging beneath a tree or feeding the birds, and tends to look at life from unusual aspects, puzzling for hours over quizzical and incredibly-important-at-the-time questions. Pressing questions like whether its possible for a solar powered car to travel faster than light and why there's a light in the fridge but not the freezer.
Despite his usually laid-back attitude, Jarrod is actually an incredibly competitive person and a real perfectionist at heart. He carries that attitude over to his paper-folding power, spending many a minute getting the correct crease in the correct area and getting incredibly frustrated if everything goes pear-shaped.

Bio/What led them towards the Coven: Jarrod is an orphan, and has been for as long as he can remember. He treated every child that came to the orphanage like a brother or sister, even if they didn't reciprocate his feelings he never gave up on them. He learned used his powers regularly to entertain his 'siblings'.
He was admitted to the coven for protection after hunters were alerted to his presence by employees of the orphanage.

Gender: Female

Age: 16

Born Power: She can go into other people's dreams and change them however she wants. In some cases she can even make the wounds that a person felt into dreams into reality. The wounds never come out more as light bruises or cuts.

Appearance:

Personality: When it comes to her family she is a big sister that wants to protect her siblings, but when she is away from them she wants her freedom to do what she wants. She does not see herself as a leader, but sometimes she likes to boss people around. She is very interested in controlling her power and seeing what she could do with it.

Bio/What led them towards the Coven: Alice's family had always been witches and they were a few of the people that wanted to keep the blood running. She was the first of her siblings display her powers. They sent her there so that she can learn to control her power and not attract the attention of hunters.
