@NeoAC@WriterRavenAh, I see. I'd confused Indigo with Turquoise. http://forums.superherohype.com/showthread.php?t=333578

Did a lot of people miss the part where only the first 251 Pokémon are allowed, or did that change while I wasn't looking?

@Maxwell "The list of Pokemon available for capture will be limited to the first 251 Pokemon"~ NeoAC

Eh, apparently just about anything anything goes for starter.

I'm not completely sure about that, though, since Heartgold / SoulSilver introduced some amount of Gen III and IV Pokemon thanks to the Safari Park and some route / Trainer reworking.

Honestly just using 251 Pokemon is a bit of a problem for a few players who want to collect same-type Pokemon. Not a lot of Ghost-types, Dark-types, Ice-types, and Steel-types. At least there's more Fairy-types to use, since some Normal Pokemon were switched.

Since I'm curious, has anyone here read the Pokemon Adventure mangas? They're very well done and I was inspired by them greatly when crafting my Sybil, so greatly recommended if anyone wants a fresh look at the PKMN universe.

Starters, from what I was told, can be past gen 2 only if the Pokemon is avalible in the region the trainer is from but in the RP no pokes from gen 3 and up will be avalible for capture.@Maxwell

I have. That's why I had Aeris be an Evolver, much like one of the characters in the Adventures manga. (I think it was Silver, but it has been a while since I read it, as in, when I was up to date on it, they were at the Giratina part of the Diamond/Pearl/Platinum arc)

In the previous version of Indigo, we weren't allowed to build a team composed primarily of one type in particular; no Monotype Challenges, if you will. I feel it makes sense to impose that restriction here as well.

Pokémon with Hidden Abilities would be particularly difficult to find, since each character only gets one capture per route. Neo will require a strong reason for finding one and adding it to the team. And you'd only get to catch one Pokémon with its hidden ability.

I actually have a question, too. Are deaths of team members a plausible battle outcome in this role play, or do they simply faint, like in the games?

Now, I'm not going to outlaw Monotype teams entirely. But given the Capture Lists that I have, at least for the first half of the RP, it will be very tough to do without writing yourself into a tough spot.

They are not plausible as an outcome of battle specifically. I'm not going to have people going around literally stomping Rattatas to death just to traumatize kids. It is possible for Pokemon to die though. In the original RP that inspired Indigo V1 there was a lot of death, some to necessity for writing people out, some due to just needing food. In Indigo V1, there were some deaths, some human deaths, but only one trainer had a Pokemon die and that was from an event outside of battle. So yeah, I'm going to say they faint like in the game/anime.

@NeoAC

Starvation was an actual plot element? That's actually quite realistic. So this universe operates under the assumption that Pokemon are living beings that require things like food or occasional rest. Compared to some of the other Pokemon RPs out there, this definitely doesn't try to push suspension of disbelief past its breaking point. Excellent.

Yeah we should be all right. Kanto is a much better developed land now. Only Tauros and Kinglers get eaten up now.

@NeoAC@Hella Cute

Well, I'm assuming the world of Pokemon doesn't actually have regular animals, so wouldn't that mean instead of eating fish, the people consume fish-like Water types? Or the less dangerous Pokemon in general?

Of course, an Arbok and a Magikarp are two totally different stories . . .
