Jess hears another girl come in, she hangs her head while the girl tries to comfort her. Jess is so overwhelmed with emotion that she can't muster any sound to respond to the kind girl. Eventually the girl gives Jess one last show of affection, and leaves the room. "Come on, you know we can do this. We are better than what has happened to us." She tells herself. She puts on a bathing suit that looks about her size and goes out to the pool with the others. She gets there just in time to hear the housekeeper, "It looks like most of you know nothing. That is alright. I want you all to grab the edge of the pool and then let your feet float up. Some people will float easier then others. Kick your feet slowly at first. I will walk around and see who needs help." She acknowledges what was said, but she has always been a fairly good swimmer and she isn't worried about her capabilities. Jess eases into the shallow end of the pool, feeling the chill hit her skin.
