I don't think my character's going to fit in with this group, you're all playing as the same character. :S

@Genni I'm a stealth hacker who likes to plant stun bombs, none of the others are like me. :D

@SimplyJohn True, but the others are all super-spies capable of single-handedly clearing a building. Not much room for a raging fury queen when the others will have sniped or stealth killed everyone before she gets there.

With the choices of characters listed so far there's only so much roleplay that can be done with the story, and it's pretty much all going to be stealth raiding military bases.

I see your point.

With both Keshik and Angelo having tech savvy skills they wouldn't really need a specialist like Patch on the team either, he'd just be sneaking around behind them and watching as they do his job for him. I might have to also step out if that's the case.

Everyone wants to be James Bond, no-one wants to be Q.

@Dragonite777 What's your call on the line-up so far GM?

Mine is done.

Geez, I'm gone for a few hours to sleep and go to class and all this happens.

It is open to anyone, just post a character and get it aproved. I don't have the time before work to look them over too much, but I like the "background check info" is a cool idea. Totally optional, but very neat. I was originally going to do Tech/Stealth, since that's how I've gone through AP both times, but I may go Stealth/Medic, since we need some healing hands

@SimplyJohn you have a good point. I think 2 Tech/Stealths is enough, I read a "past" on someone interested in gadgets, so I'll add a Gadgetry specialty for those tech users wanting to specialize on gadgets.

If you'd like to take on the Tech role I'd be happy to come up with a Tough/Medic type character instead of a gunslinger. With so many stealthers on the team her gung-ho attitude would be wasted and playing a grizzly combat medic would be a fun second choice.

@Genni It'd be better to keep Condor as she is and have the medic take over from Patch instead. With Keshik playing as a stealth/tech/sniper, Patch's more subtle techniques won't fit the story while Condor can still be useful as both a diversion and backup, should things not go as planned.

In the interest thread I deliberately avoided giving Patch marksmanship skills, but now that everyone else seems to be going for them he'll be worthless during the game. If we let Keshik take over the comms support role, as he was trained to according to his bio, then switching Patch for a medic would make more sense.

I could even keep the same code name, since he'd be patching the squad rather than patching enemy hardware.

@Genni I don't want to discriminate roles. Especially one this rare (Alpha protocol is 400% tougher when you don't have stealth). The missins will be infiltration, but not necessarily stealth-based. You could just say screw it and knock on the front door. An added bonus is that it's a distraction for the stealth platoon we have going on to sneak in even easier. And my medic would be about 7 paces behind you in case things go hairy at the front door.

@SimplyJohn well, there's only so many guards that can be sniped before someone notices and sounds the alarm or they don't check in and an alarm is automatically souned like it would be in real life. so subtler approaches would probably be preferred when sneaking, unlike in the game where you can clear a room and nobody knows it happened until you're gone

I think two of any combo of specializations is enough, so no more Stealth/Techs. Any and every combination of specializations are viable ways of doing things. And now I've added more or less a "bard" option, Conversationalist, so you can talk your way through things expertly if you so prefer. Which now makes me debate on what to do for my character. I made it difficult on myself

@Dragonite777 The problem is if everyone else is going in stealthy I'll be left on my own having to deal with all the guards while the rest of the squad stealth kill and snipe them all. And with three Tech Savvy characters on the team there's no chance anyone's going to be able to set off an alarm without one of them quashing it.

The way I see it the team consists of:
'Patch' - Stealth hacker
Jack Turpin - Stealth martial artist/'thief'
Keshik - Stealth super-soldier
Angelo Ortega - International assassin/sniper

Most of the characters have been 'trained from a young age' to be super-spies, while Condor's just a girl who fell into a bad situation and has had to make the best out of it. Her only real skill is her determination to succeed, while the others are all one-man army types, apart from Patch who'll just stealth past everyone and blow up the building.

While the choice may be there to take an unstealthy approach, why bother when the entire team can do the job the stealthy way instead. There's only so many stories that can be told with this cast, and Condor wouldn't have much of a place in any of them.

@Avanhelsing If you want to just be a thief-type character, drop the Martial Arts and go with Toughness instead. If Jack's that good at sneaking around he'd never have needed to fight anyone enough to have learnt martial arts.

Black Widow's was assassin, not a thief, and her training was all about taking out anyone between her and her target, not sneaking past them. She learnt the stealth stuff only after switching sides and joining SHIELD.

@Avanhelsing No one's yelling. If you want to be stealth/martial arts, go for it. @Genni was just pointing out the differences between your character and Black Widow.

And @Genni, since the story will be taking into places so underground that a handful of the world's population knows about it, there will be a point where they start using anti-stealth means. And sometimes the only entryway is a heavily guarded front door. I just have a few plot points planned out, so I can adjust to later areas being anti-stealth, since in the real world, agencies that work together pass along information about their targets/opponents. Therefore if you've stealthed your way through company A, find out that they're working with company B, then by the time you arrive at company B, they know there's stealthing hackers about and have taken precautions to prevent sneaking and hacking. I'm going to put barriers specific to the group to force the group into tight spots (without making no escape). Please don't think that just because most of the team is stealth oriented that I'll cater to the sneakers and techies. You don't have to change your character because of the other team members.

Actually to be accurate it's be a hacker and a sniper assassin. No lock I can't crack and no enemy I can't shot between the eyes kind of deal.

@Dragonite777 If you'd like to go for Stealth/Tech I'm more than willing to switch out Patch for a Conversationalist/Medic, just as long as he gets to sleep in a tent called the Swamp and drink martinis whenever he isn't operating. :)

Patch is turning out to be a watered-down version of Keshik, and without being able to join the fight there isn't much he could do that Keshik couldn't do instead. I think I mistook the RP for more of a spy story rather than a Mission Impossible one.

Just need to think of a way to supercharge Benjamin 'Hawkeye' Pierce so he can keep up with the others. :D

Which just adds to my argument that Condor isn't needed. In fact, why do you need anyone else on the team, if Angelo could just do the mission alone?

At least @Avanhelsing and @SimplyJohn tried to make a specialist character with a specific skill set and weaknesses in other areas. All the others seem to be experts at everything.

Whoa whoa their I never said I could do the mission myself. I may not put much into my character but no one person can complete every mission, were not Thornton and even he had handlers to help him with information and schematics and that's what I would expect most of my job to be, info collection and not really going into the field often unless a target needs to get a bullet to their head

@SimplyJohn Well, it's spy story-esque, but not undercover James Bond or Metal Gear Solid sneaky stealth spy. It's just agents trying to stop shit from hitting the fan that nobody knows is coming.

Haven't read bios yet, but yeah. We shouldn't have any one-man-armies. This is about a group of good spies who excommunicated from their agency (or just rogue agents in general), not a group of Marvel superhero-level spies. Even the great Alpha Protocol protagonist Michael Thorton had some help.
