Kasumi, "The Shadow"

Kasumi flushed slightly at the man's appraising gaze, muttering her name and turning instead to watch the interaction between the two Absols, in order to hide her own embarrassment. After all, this is the first time she's interacted with anyone for more than a few seconds. And that was a really depressing thought. Kiseki, for her part, remained silent but reached out to gently touch noses with the other Absol, a gentle expression in her eyes. Taika dipped his head and growled a greeting for her. "We welcome you. She is Kiseki. I am Taika. That is Tsubasa." He indicated the Braviary on Kasumi's shoulder with a jerk of his head. "Do you have a name?" Tsubasa looked up at the mention of his name, flying over to perch on Taika's head as he too glanced at the other Absol. Finally he let out a yawning chirp and promptly tucked his head under his wing. Aside from a small wince at his rudeness, Taika and Kiseki didn't move, instead waiting on the other Pokemon to introduce herself.

Meanwhile, Kasumi had been paying attention to all of the new arrivals to the group, mentally recording their names and professions before turning her attention back to Gentry when he addressed her. There was a small surge of relief as he welcomed her into the group without her having to say a word. Kasumi didn't like to speak, and she definitely didn't want to ask for things. She was too used to getting denied. Swinging on top of Taika, she patiently waited for the Salamance to take the lead before directing her Arcanine to follow. She thought briefly about offering to carry someone else, since there was room on Taika's back, but she couldn't find the courage to speak up and they were outside the city before she had managed to even say a word. However, after they simply waited there for a few minutes, she finally managed to speak up. "Are we waiting for something in particular? Maybe someone?"

"I would love to, I think we will be a great team!"

Mana became slightly relaxed after hearing that and smiled. She may have lowered her guard against Eric, but she still doesn't trust him one bit. Maybe a little bit... Her thoughts contradicted each other. It's not like his Pokemon have done anything hostile in nature after all. Mana paused for a moment before taking steps closer to Eric.

"I couldn't help but overhear you were planning a group," another individual spoke out after approaching them. He was a tall and slightly intimidating man who wore traditional clothing. Mana practically flailed her arms, startled from his sudden appearance. "If you have no objections, I would like to join too. I'm Yūrei."

Mana would have been alright, but after connecting eyes with his Pokemon, she returned to her place against the wall with a 10 feet distance between them. Not only that, but she felt a strange presence coming from behind him and shuddered a bit.

"Ahem, hello Yūrei. It's nice to meet you, I'm Mana and this is Eric." She felt a bit strange introducing the both of them and glanced toward Eric to allow him to answer Yūrei's question. But even before that, she felt chills again from the ghostly aura.

Eric

Eric was very nervous after stating that he and Mana would make a great team. A small part of him thought that she might disagree, but it put his mind at ease a bit to see her relax and smile. Her smile was warm and friendly. It made Eric feel more comfortable with her. He let out a content sigh, and returned her charming grin. She seemed to stand in thought for a moment, then began to take a few steps toward him. This was the first time she showed any comfort with him, and it made Eric happy to know she trusted him a bit more now. His grin widened as she approached and he, in turn, took a few steps toward her as well.

"I couldn't help but overhear you were planning a group," another person said from behind them. Eric turned towards the voice to get a good look at this new presence. The man was a tall and lanky gentlemen who wore ornate traditional robes. Obviously, he wasn't from the same area he was. This was proven further as the man introduced himself and revealed his name. "If you have no objections, I would like to join too. I'm Yūrei."

He looked suspicious and intimidating, but spoke with grace and sincerity. It would have been a bit better, but his Pokemon shared the same look. Kyo and Sei's appearance switched on a dime, becoming more menacing and tentative in nature. Obviously, they felt defensive with these new Pokemon approaching. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Mana return to the corner he originally found her in. This made him feel slightly depressed as he just got her trust. Deep down, Eric knew that 2 alone people couldn't make up an effective group. Especially when one of those people didn't have a single Pokemon.

"Ahem, hello Yūrei. It's nice to meet you, I'm Mana and this is Eric." Well, I don't have to introduce myself now, he thought to himself. Mana obviously looked to Eric to answer the man's request. If we are gonna make it out there, we need numbers...plain and simple.

"Hello Yūrei," Eric began. "We would love it if you would join us!"

Jin had finished her time in the local markets and hurried enerstly towards the outside of the city where she would meet up with the others. Her detour was from the meeting point was mostly to get some food supplies for the trip, but to also look for a waterstone. Like what Gentry suggested, Staryu would evolve into a Starmie when exposed to a waterstone and she had been on the hunt for one for a while, however they were very rare and most of the time extremly overpriced to the point where she simply couldn't afford it. Most of her savings was spent when she purchased her Ninjato and being of a unique design it had to be specially manufactured from start to finish.

She left the city limits feeling somewhat disapointed that her personal quest was more in vain and when she saw the group surrounding Gentry and his Salamance, she noticed that they were standing on the path towards Leonias.

"Are we waiting for something in particular? Maybe someone?"

Jin heard the group talking amongst themselves as she walked over and decided to address the Aurios woman's query.

"Um.. Possibly me. Are we going through Leonias instead?" Her question was addressed with uncertanity as she had never been out of Argent before this trip and taking a full journey through what some of the more radical Argentians called 'The Enemy's Territory' did make her feel uneasy. Being part of the Guard Regiment had it's many perks but one of it's downfalls was that they never left the country.

"I can't back out now," she thought quietly as she looked over the other party members and tried to remember their faces, and who owned which pokemon. From the looks of it, this was going to be the group that she would be venturing out with.

Shu

Though Shu kept her back tall and straight as the group made their way to the city outskirts, her decision weighed heavy on her shoulders with every step. This was a terrible idea. Not the protection of Atlas part – she was completely on board with making sure the land was safe for all citizens. No, the terrible idea was thinking she belonged with that man with no sense of personal space, (who was a Leonian soldier, to top it off) a foreign girl who seemed easily flustered, Gentry, and some other person Shu had yet to meet. They even had two disaster Pokemon in their party. That was a bad omen if she'd ever seen one.

Gentry and Kasumi were quicker on their mounts, forcing Shu and Wu to trail behind, but that was fine with her. She'd rather follow than have them at her back.

They didn't wait long at the crossroads before the last member of their group finally appeared. Another girl, Argentian by the look of her, who didn't bother to introduce herself. At her question, Shu eyed the two trails. Journeying through Leonias in the summer wasn't something Shu looked forward to, but then neither was braving Argentian floods. She gave a quiet sigh to herself, Wu mirroring her.

"They're from Leonias," she said, glancing between Paro and Gentry. "They know the land. If they're trustworthy, the smart move would be to take advantage of that." Shu wasn't exactly in a trusting mood, but decided to let that go unsaid.

Paro

Paro almost hadn't realized the girl from the banquet was in this platoon; he'd been more focused on his dinner and the man aboard the enormous dragon. But the girl in green had a point: the atmosphere between the cooperating nations was still tense and unfamiliar. Somebody needed to open up.

Looking on toward the mid-afternoon sun, Paro's eyes narrowed beneath knit brows.

"We'd have to steer clear of a village near the border. They don't trust Pokemon." He hesitated only an instant before adding, "Or me, for that matter." He scanned over the group, seeking any glimmer of recognition. His expression softened. "But the bigger issue is: it's hot. You get used to it after 22 years, but we don't all have that long. So," he turned to address the two women who weren't in any summer clothes he'd ever seen, "is everybody confident they can make it through the heat, or should we go another way?"

Kasumi, "The Shadow"

Kasumi managed to hide her flinch at the unfamiliar voice as it answered her question. Turning to see the woman who had spoken, she gave her one quick appraising glance before turning back to a member of her party as she remarked upon the homeland of two of the men, proclaiming that it might help them upon their journey through the country in question. Then one of the men spoke up and Kasumi couldn't hold back a snort as he complained about the heat and, turning to her (along with the woman called Shu), asked if they could get through the heat. "I've traveled for many years. I'm used to the heat and the cold. My clothes may not look proper, but they are designed for traveling and so are very thin and durable."

Honestly. What was she thinking, trying to journey with a bunch of strangers who had no idea of her skills, or what she had done to survive. They didn't trust each other, that was clear, and their mission was vague at best. Kasumi sighed softly, and plucked up her courage. "It is clear that we do not trust each other. We also do not know much about one another. Perhaps in an attempt to rectify both of these problems at once, we introduce ourselves once more along with a quick summary of our skills? That way, we will not waste future time bickering over who can handle what task, and we also start to trust one another." Something she didn't mention, however, was the fact that it would be useful to know everyone's skills if they turned against her at any point during the mission. She knew it could happen, and it was always best to prepare for the worst. "Perhaps we Pokemon should do the same?" Taika spoke up, the large Arcanine speaking for her two other Pokemon as they nodded along with him.

And thus, the seperate groups have been formed. One was travelling via the route of Argent, the silver land that was now having quite the wet season now, so wet you would question why you'd even want to go there. The current weather was freezing and it rained rather often.

And then there was the second group, which travelled via the route of Leonais, the land of canyons, caves and valleys. It was a rocky road with hot, humid yet moderate temperatures, but a rocky road nonetheless. You could pass it off as a desert at first glance.

With supplies packed, the groups were ready to roll. Days turned into weeks. Weeks turned into months, and months turned into...

... a great burden and bundle of despair

The Argent Forces had advanced through Phoenicis for weeks, and it was only until recently when they were prepared to cross the borders that seperated Phoenicis and Argent. They red rocks began to shift to a hue of grey as they walked forward. The sounds of the sea could be heard, since it wasn't exactly far.

Tachibana then begins to speak. "Around this time period, Argent will have great floods that will cause lower land to be submerged, causing our routes to be fragmented into mere, small islands. However, should we rest for a night while we are on lower grounds of Argent, we run a risk of being drowned in our sleep," he coughs a little, "we are also low on resources, such as food, herbs and water. We will have to restock by hunting."

Tachibana then notes that a river flowed past the borders, linking to the seas. That was a source of water, and potentially food.

Jin arrived before Gentry could answer Kasumi's question. She was the last one they were waiting for, and now they could venture off towards Aurios.. but they still hadn't decided a path to take. As the others discussed their options, Paro spoke up.

"We'd have to steer clear of a village near the border. They don't trust Pokemon. Or me, for that matter."

Gentry now regretted letting the young man join.. what kind of person had they taken in? A thief perhaps? Extra caution would have to be taken. He was right about one thing though, Leonias seemed like the safest route, as long as the others could stand the heat.

"Leonias it is, then. If we travel Northeast through the center of the country we can cover the most ground looking for anything suspicious."

And so they began their journey. As they traveled, Kasumi proposed the idea to share their skills with each other. "Sharing our skills won't help us to be more trustworthy. We're all warriors here, I think it's quite clear what skills we possess." Salamence huffed in agreement, sending a puff of dust billowing off the road.

How long had they been travelling? It had been weeks since the group left the Phoenician castle. Soon they would finally cross the border into Leonias. Gentry was soaring above the group atop Salamence scouting the road ahead when they spotted a structure; a gate and large fortified wall in the distance. "There it is, Sal. Let's tell the others." The pair dove down, and with several powerful flaps of Salamence's wings came to a hault on the road where the rest of the group was.

"We've reached the border. Up ahead is the gate. If what the emperor said is true they should let you all pass with no trouble. If not, it may take some negotiating."

There Nieto sat in a cell at the Leonias Gate crossing. He was being questioned by the Leonias officials about why he wanted to cross the border, what his propose was, who sent him, etc. Although he answered every question they had, he felt as though he was actually making very little headway. It was frustrating for him to be sitting in a cell. He would much rather be out advancing on his mission.

This is so degrading. I cant believe I am in a cell being questioned when I should have just been let through. I guess I could just take my sword and slash my way out but that would cause unwanted complications. It looks like the only realistic rout of action is to just continue answering questions and wait for my moment. Neito thought.
"I already told you. The king gave me and some others special permission to pass through."

The guard leaned forward and said, "Well then I guess we will just wait for the others to get here to verify your story."
With that the guard stood up and left closing the metal cell door behind him.

I knew I should not have left on my own. now I have to wait for the others to get hear and hope that they let me join their group.

R- R- R- R- Retcon!

And so the grand group trekked through the Phoenician plains. As days turned into weeks and weeks into months, their supplies began to dwindle to an all time low. Blood, sweat and tears flowed through their very inner spirits as they took their first steps into the border of Leonais, a border that connected wildnerness to wilderness.

"Leonais. The lands which Entei watch over are filled with canyons, caves and red sands. However, it is untrue to call this place an utter desert," Tachibana speaks, "our supplies are low, and our rest little. It is best that we restock and refresh by hunting and finding any source of water possible."

"our supplies are low, and our rest little. It is best that we restock and refresh by hunting and finding any source of water possible."

Through this whole journey Neito felt as though he was of little use. Now someone was asking something of him that he knew how to do very well.
I will go search for water." Neito volunteered.
Neito went around camp collecting all of containers that could hold water. Then he set off into the dry climate in search of a water source. He knew that there would probably not be any water on the surface so he began to look for damp ground or some sort of plant that retained water for long periods. After about an hour of searching he came across a stream of water that just ran through the sand. The joy of finding such a great water source overtook him and he jumped straight into the stream. Right as his feet hit the water everything turned into sand and he felt the jolt of the impact run through his body.
How long has it been since I last had water? Now I am seeing things. I can go longer then usual without water so I wonder how the rest of the group is holding up. I have to find water soon or it will all just get worse.
With new inspiration Neito began to look even harder. In his search he found three cacti whose water filled half of the containers he had. Then he had Aokitsune burn the cacti to stumps so he could dig around the roots and collect the ground water. He returned to camp with all but one container filled with water. He knew that if they conserved the water then it should last them quite a wile.
Neito triumphantly walked to the middle of the camp and exclaimed "Everyone rejoice! I have found water for all!" With that he began to pass out water to everyone and made sure that he had enough to last him as well. When he was done he dug a fire pit and filled it with wood that he had found around camp and had Aokitsune light it. Now that he had a hardy fire going he sat down and waited for diner.
