If you didn't already hear, Bill Nye (the Science Guy) is facing off against Ken Ham, founder of the Creation Museum, tonight on live TV. It'll be broadcast on CNN at 7pm EST and on Youtube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6kgvhG3AkI

I'm really sad, but I'll be missing probably the first hour of this. I have a previous commitment that will keep me out until 7 CST.

Anyone going in person? Or watching on TV/Youtube?

I love Bill Nye, as long as they don't talk about nuclear power he'll be ok.

Dude is dumb as bricks when it comes to nuclear power.

Bill gets points for style.

It's still up for debate on who starts throwing dirty punches first.

Commenting with neutrality, but aren't a lot of things proselytism? Thought provoking question.

Sure. A lot of things could count as religion, too, and that's a thing worth thinking about; but I get some caterpillars when I hear the gospel presented in an otherwise science-oriented debate. Not the place, imo.

I think Bill Nye did first with his opening statement, but Ken Ham is continuously throwing jabs.

Bill's opening statement. So far it's been framed as follows:

HAM: Observational science and historical science are different, and the former does not rise solely from the latter
NYE: The distinction between observational and historical science is inaccurate; present experimentation is valid for historical inference, and supports evolution.

Ham's talking a lot about 'science' and 'evolution' and other data sets being 'hijacked' by secularists/naturalists.

What's the prompt? Is it concerning evolution or creationism?

The battle over definitions of words is the most important. The meaning and interpretation of a word is everything.

And I have to say that even though I don't think there's evidence to support a claim about six-day creation (Ham prolly has some words about that) -- I have to agree with the distinction. Bill Nye's counterpoint to refute that so far has been 'That show CSI,' which, idunno man, speaking of doing better........

Compared to Ken Ham... Bill Nye's presentation started off really weak.
