You feel your heart is getting slower with each beat. Its ending, your life, long before it was meant to end. Something, or somebody, cut its natural span and now you feel the darkness slowly envelop. Accident, disease, murder, suicide? Doesn’t matter anymore. Soon you will bid farewell to this world. Already you can’t feel your limbs. At this point you can’t even see or hear anything. There’s only the sound of your heartbeat like a toll of a bell which someone swung once and then left to ring, slowly fading.

Finally it stopped. There is nothing. You are left in the company of silence and darkness. There is no sense of touching the surface you are currently on, almost as if you are suspended mid-air. Alone, blind and deaf, you feel nothing- neither chill nor warmth, nor do you smell anything. In fact, you wonder if you are even breathing because you can’t sense the air entering your nostrils or your chest rising as it gets filled with oxygen. With this thought you try to gasp for air but you can’t move your jaw.

Is this death? Is this how your eternity will be? The horrifying thought sends an impulse from your brain to your vocal organs, demanding your body to shout, but you don’t budge. Madness. That’s the only thing that awaits you within this abyss

However, the creeping insanity is dispelled when a familiar sound resonates once again through your being.

Again the warmth returns to your body. Slowly, so you can’t move yet, but at least you feel. You never expected it to be good just to feel the existence of your body. The darkness remains, but through your sense of touch you realize you are sitting somewhere. A smell of tobacco fills your nostrils as you once again take the air into your lungs.

Then, over the drumming of your heartbeat which was now back to its normal pace, you hear something else. It is a monotone yet familiar sound. Few moments are all that it takes for you to remember where you have heard it before. The sound of rail tracks. You were in a train.

The City of Monsters

You just died and have arrived in the City. Yes, that's its name. The City. The one which eternally stands in the afterlife between the realms of Heaven and Hell. No, it is not Purgatory, it is a world spawned from greed into which your soul had a dubious fortune to end up in. This place is now your afterlife, you can't be redeemed out of it. It is a world which is Hell compared to Heaven and Heaven compared to Hell, so look back on your past life on Earth and decide if you're lucky or not.

Now that you are here, however, you need to survive. The City is inhabited by monsters, most of which were once humans as well, but it changed them and it will change you. The Game is set, souls are the currency and anyone with a week of seniority will try to devour you. Quite literally, in some cases.

You better learn the new rules fast kid because you definitely ain’t in Kansas anymore.

Your soul's power is measured in levels. The higher the level, the "thicker" your soul is, capable of fueling your Ability to accomplish greater feats then it could on lower levels. You start at level 1.
[Personality]
This one needs no explanation. Minimum one solid paragraph, no one-liner.
[Biography]
Make it short, one or two paragraphs. It will have absolutely no impact on what happens to your character in the City. Your character had never before his death come in contact with anything supernatural. Also, at the beginning of the RP you have just arrived in the City and your character themselves barely have any idea what the fuck is happening to them, so no mention of the City here.
[Skills]
Any non-supernatural skill and ability your character has, like cooking, running, boxing, shooting guns, etc. There is no limit to the amount of skills you can have at the start, but the more you have the less proficient you are with each of them.
[Ability]
Supernatural power you received after death. Be descriptive, specify its range, shape, strength, don't just write stuff like "dark manipulation" and leave it at that.
[Weakness]
With ability you also got a supernatural weakness. It is usually related to your ability (someone using fire may be weak against water, for example).

(Sorry, I prefer descriptions) Standing at nearly 5'3 Songbird is a lithe creature. She is pale skinned and has a clear complexion. She has a heart shaped face with a defined jaw. She has an average build, not entirely skinny, nor strong, nor thin. Her shoulders are close and curved softly, and her hair is long, coming down to her waist. It is startlingly blond, nearing a white color. Her eyes are a soft and warm brown, though they hold a confusion and underlining sadness.

[Personality]
In one word, she is average. Songbird is a person who tries her best to stay very neutral, and avoid conflict in general. She likes to agree as it is easier and often safer. While she may seem like she has no thought of her own because of this, she is actually the type to overthink. She imagines all possible outcomes of a choice and runs through every one. This leads her to wasting time and being indecisive, and thus going with simple low risk answers. Though by the same token if pressured she may make a brash or reckless outburst. A scared mouse that needs to evolve, she is looking out for herself, and that is all.

[Biography]

Living a dead end job after dropping out of college, she housed with her high-school friend and worked in a grocery store as a cashier. Failing to get her bachelor of design she gave up on any dream job and hoped to simply move up enough on the work ladder to support herself. Single, mostly by choice, she lived for herself and looked forwards to indulging with movies and games on the weekends. Yet again to describe her she was living an average and plain life. Though her inner spark of whimsy and thirst for greatness is not completely snuffed. She passed away when her friend ran a red light, and they collided with a semi-truck.

Finding patterns, analyzing and taking them apart mentally. She is also good at simply observing and taking a lot from very little.

[Ability]

"Acceleration and aversion to self destruction" She is able to in bursts, increase her speed exponentially. This is not always used in running. She may punch fantastically fast, and even grow hair at a fast rate. It also applies to her thought, meanig she can for small periods think much faster then usual. As we all know speed plus mass equals force, and if a fragile human was to increase their damage output by hitting at blinding speed, they would likely explode their fist with the force. This backlash does not apply to Songbird. If hit by something while moving fast, she of course is hurt. Though she does not destroy herself by hitting something fast. That being said she is extremely fatigued by using this ability, in any form.

[Weakness]

After speeding a part of herself up, she must enter a cool down period. Nothing comes free. So while she at first is extremely fast, in exchange some equal amount of her body must be slowed. If her fist moves fast for a single punch, perhaps her foot may move extremely slow and lag behind later. She has no control over which part is used in this exchange.

[Personality]
If I could describe Eon in only a couple of words, it would be rude but caring. He's brash and sometimes (A lot of the time) rushes into situations without really thinking before hand. He can become very aggressive when someone shows the smallest form of hostility towards him, however those that he calls friends will learn that he can be sort of a softy, using this aggression to protect them when needed. Despite his disrespect for authority, he has a large sense of justice, feeling that those who don't deserve to get hurt shouldn't and that those who do deserve to get hurt should.

[Biography]
Before death, Eon was actually born into a rich, high class family. He was enrolled into a very expensive private school and had high grades despite his delinquent personality. Eon disliked the idea of being born into fortune and decided that right after graduation he would remove himself from his family and live independently.

The day he died was the same as any other day, but as he was walking home he was caught up in a shoot out at a nearby bank between police officers and robbers. He had tried to save a little boy who was taken hostage but got shot in the endeavor.

[Skills]
Cooking: With the goal of living by himself in mind, Eon became proficient in many forms of housework. However he excels in cooking, having a sort of pride in it.

Boxing: With a personality like his, he needed to find an outlet for his anger. Boxing became a big part of his life, becoming skilled enough to defeat most grown men at the age of 15.

[Ability]
Density shift: After death, Eon gained the power to change his owns bodies density, as well as the density as anything he touches. This allows him to increase his density, which lets him absorb more hits and deal heavier blows as well as strengthen his skin, or lower his density, which lets him phase through objects or float by becoming less dense than air.

[Weakness]
Density Shift: When he increases his density, his weight is also increased, meaning that if he increases it too much he can destroy whatever platform he stands on. And when he decreases his density, he becomes as light as a feather and can be blown away as such with a strong enough gust.

@Crimson Lion How did Eon die? Also you can't have 2 abilities, pick one. If you stick with density shift you should know that Eon can change his density only once per post, so, for example, you can't reduce it to avoid attack and then increase it to punch the attacker in one post.

@deadpixel101 Nah, she isn't really that strong. In the end she still has Soul Potency 1, which means pretty much everyone she meets will be stronger than her.
