I was watching Korra and got to wondering why no one did an Avatar roleplay. So here's my idea in a nutshell. After Korra died one hundred years ago, they went to look for the Avatar but couldn't find them. They did, however, find children, the descendants of the people of multiple nations, with more than one bending ability. They took these Perspectives to train them, to see which one was the Avatar, but none have been able to use all four elements. The Prospectives do the work the Avatar once did, bringing balance to the world. And so, they continue to test them, hoping to one day find the Avatar.

Technology has advance quite a bit in the last hundred years, and we now have computers, cell phones, the internet, etc.

Any child that doesn't show the ability to bend is tested at the age of five to determine if they have the potential to have bending abilities and, if so, what kind they have. This was originally done with Bloodbending (legal for testing and self defense) or by Healers, though genetic testing replaced it, as the people of any nationality can use it and it's more accurate. If the child is found to have the potential for one bending ability they are offered training in their art, both in public school and in private training if their parents can afford it. If they have the potential for more than one bending ability, though, they are given a scholarship to the nearest Prospective Academy.

Prospective Academies are closed to all but the Prospectives and their close family, if they are under sixteen. These Academies are taught by older Prospectives, and any Prospective can stay there for free if they are training, studying, teaching, or doing something else useful for the Academy. The four Academies are in Republic City, Ba Sing Se, the Northern Water Tribe, and Fire Nation Capital.

We are the Prospectives. We may not be the best Benders out there, but we will do our duty to keep the peace. Or, at least, we will try.

How advanced is the tech of this rp? You've mentioned what's in it and genetic testing but how far does it all go?

@Vongola_HasayoComputer tech is roughly modern, but they have mechas and spirit energy weapons, plus spirit energy reactors and the like, so it depends on the area of tech. They never really developed firearms, though, so primitive weapons are much more common than in our world. Benders do many jobs that we use technology for, so some of our tech (bulldozers, generators, etc.) don't exist or are modified.

Does that answer your question?

I have a few idea's for new bending expansion that I hope are okay.

Eartbending:
Glassbending : Glass is made of sand after all.

Airbending:
Vacuum bending: Simply remove the air from a certain area and you make it impossible to breath, start fires and you can use it to cut.

Gassbending: The ability to bend gases other than oxygen like helium and natural gas

Waterbending:
Oilbending: Oil is a liquid and while this expansion isn't probably useful in combat, oilbending would make drilling for oil a lot easier.

how about

Refined Metal bending:
An advanced form of metal bending used to manipulate highly refined metals like platinum.

It's a major plot point that you can't metal bend highly refined metals. I'm sure people would try and find a way around that.

Name: Gyatso Ming

Age: 18

Nationality: Fore Nation/Earth Kingdom

School/location: Ba Sing Se

Bending types: Fire, Earth/Glass

Additional skills: Knowledge of animals, fighting with hammers.

Job: Glassblower

Pets: Elephant rat

Possessions: A bag of powdered glass, cell phone, laptop, warhammer.

Personality: While Gyasto is definitely calm enough to be a lightningbender, he lacks the necessary power. In fact he prefers weak but versatile techniques and thus mostly uses his earth/glass bending skills in combat.

History: Gyatso is the only child of a Fire nation power plant employee and an Earth kingdom sculptor. Seeing as his mother had already made a name for herself in her homeland and his father could get a job generating lightning anywhere, he grew up in the Earth Kingdom.
Since he never showed any bending potential before his fifth birthday his parents were surprised when he was revealed as a Prospective.Wanting the best for Gyatso his parents enrolled him in the Ba sing Se academy as soon as possible. While he wasn't the best student ever and didn't exactly like the school, he did his best to make his parents proud.

@DuthguyAn Earth kingdom person with a Fire nation father who dresses like he's from the water tribe. Ok, works for me.

I'll need at least one more player before we start, though.

I added an explanation for the existence of Prospectives to the OP, in case anyone wants to read it. If it doesn't make sense, just say something and I can fix it.
