Muscle atrophy is when muscles _{waste away}. The main reason for muscle wasting is a lack of physical activity. This can happen when a disease or injury makes it difficult or impossible for you to move an arm or leg.

What they don't explain is the immense pain that comes with the natural decay of muscles. As he sat there laying in what should be the most comfortable he would be all day, Charles laid in his bed clutching his legs as they rang out in glorious agony. As he went about his daily routine, for which he was able to do on his own power, the constant reminder of the WHY he does what he does continues to rear it's ugly head. Within the hour Charles straightened his tieas he positioned himself more comfortably in his chair reaching over to the pain medication and glass. If he was honest with himself, he hated taking the stuff but with everything he had lined up he would need all his concentration on his work. A sudden loud knocking at the door drew his thoughts out of himself,

"Charles, the plane is leaving soon and we can't miss the meeting with the senator."

Hank, as always, keeping everything running on a ship tight schedule.

"I'm coming Hank, just finishing up here."

In truth the fact he was taking medication for pain was his best kept secret and he planned for it to stay that way.

The hallways of Capitol Hill were always swarming with people, under normal circumstances it would be difficult to navigate the seemingly endless maze of hallways corridors and offices. However, when you are considered the greatest mutant rights activist, the world's most powerful telepath and your being pushed by a six foot mutant that could rip you in half both on and off the Senate floor, people tend to move aside for you. While Hank was being cordial enough for the both of them, Charles was in no mood to deal with people today.

His mind was riddled with the thoughts of the humans around him, while not a major issue the dull roar was little more than a minor irritant. They were early for their meeting which was exactly how Charles liked it, he always kept himself ahead of everyone's schedule. It keeps people on their toes. Among the sea of yes men and political kiss ups Hank began giving the run down of the day's events.

"...And besides with everything else we have planned, we just don't have enough hours in the day."

"So who is this Senator Hunter anyway?"

"Nicholas Hunter, senator from Iowa. Virtually unknown until he ran for state Senate in Des Moines in 2003. He eventually ran for governor where he increased state revenue 16% in his first term. A staunch supporter of the anti-metahuman movement, having coauthored the Mutant Affairs Control Act in 1989. He alongside Senator Robert Kelly have essentially paved the way for most anti-metahuman legislation since the late 80s."

A wave of seriousness washed over Charles. His opponent was quite formidable indeed as it appeared that Mr. Hunter was one of if not THE most influential anti-mutant activist. Although he was just as formidable in the defense of the rights of his people as well, so much that when Hank knocked on the door to his office Charles was bold enough to smile in confidence. That smile quickly faded when the one face he never expected to see appeared before him,

"Why hello Charles, it's been far too long!"

"Colonel Stryker, it certainly has been some time. Last time we met, I believe it was at Georgetown University Hospital."

The slight towards his son was received and not taken lightly by Reverend Stryker as a slight chuckle was heard from behind him,

"Come now William, even you of all people could appreciate the irony of the comment."

Senator Hunter motioned for Charles and Hank to come further into the office as he was seen with yet another unforseen individual to a meeting that should have been a one on one meeting. Things seemed to be taking a turn for the worse.

I have always had this image of Charles Xavier in my head that maybe some where down the highway he and Erik wernt so different in their views, but where Magneto took things to a physical point Charles played the political scene. For this interpretation I really want to explore Professor X as a force that your not sure you can really trust, an uneasy ally or a person that you owe a favor to. In a nutshell I really want to explore more of the psychological thriller-esque of what Professor X and his X-Men could be.

T I M E L I N E:

1 9 6 0: Charles Francis Xavier was born to Brian and Sharon Xavier in their ancestral home in North Salem, New York. Brian a successful scientist and professor at Harvard University while Sharon stayed home as a homemaker.

1 9 6 5: Brian dies at the labs at the school. The widowed Sharon quickly marries Brian's partner and close friend Kurt Marko, and together with his son Cain move in to the Xavier family estate. Charles begins to manifest his telepathic abilities.

1 9 7 6 - 1 9 7 8: Charles graduates Harvard University at the age of sixteen. Fight ensues between Charles, Cain and, step father Kurt result in Kurt's untimely death. No charges ever filed although Cain leaves the premises. Over the next two years Charles obtains P.H.d's in Genetics, Biophysics, Psychology, and Anthropology.

1 9 8 0: Charles begins study on human mutation and discovers the gene responsible for the explosive growth in mutant's over the last decade. Labeled the "X-Gene" by partner and personal friend, Dr. Hank McCoy. Tensions grow strained between humans and their meta-human communities and Charles attempts to act as intermediary between them. For a time it appears that all is going well.

1 9 8 9: While speaking at an event in Washington DC, Charles Xavier was shot by an unknown gunman. Charles was rushed to Georgetown University Hospital. Once stabilized the shooter was confirmed as Jason Stryker, son of Reverend William Stryker head of the Purifiers movement. Charles would be paralyzed from the waist down for the rest of his life.

1 9 9 0: Charles secludes himself within his home for the better portion of the start of the year. His demeanor seemed to change as he began meeting with an old college acquaintance who he ever only referred to as Erik. After much counciling and deliberation, particularly from Dr. McCoy, Charles decides to open the Xavier Institute of Higher Learning to help the mutant youth learn to control their abilities as well as receive a quality education.

1 9 9 5: Charles becomes more politically active, more aggressive in his stand for mutant rights. Begins recruiting various "teacher's" from all walks of life with seemingly little to no background in teaching.

1 9 9 6 - 2 0 0 5: News of the school and it's founder fade into anonymity. As Charles and Hank McCoy continue their political crusade for mutant rights Charles personally goes out to recruit candidates for a special project that had been delicately named Cerebro. School receives government funding for the project for the foreseeable future.

2 0 0 6 - C U R R E N T: With the continued decline in meta-human sentiments, the seemingly meteoric rise of the Justice League A.R.G.U.S. unveils the Young Justice Initiative creating a group of young meta-humans and the League releasing their own "Titans" upon humanity a mysterious group calling themselves X-MEN operating in secret to further the interests of mutant kind.

The Secret World

Not much is known about the past of Aaron Nyles before he mysteriously arrived in Portsmouth. What is known is his seemingly meteoric rise and conquest of the shipping industry upon his arrival. Setting up his home in one of the more lavish skyrises in the Portsmouth metro Aaron kept himself an enigma to the local media and most of the general public. The only this that was made abundently clear was his general malice towards others and his interest in any and all Void activities in the local area.

Aaron's mysterious personality and general cold hearted nature has lead to rumors about him being an assassian, a Mystic, and possibly a serial killer (none of which Aaron has ever denied). What ever you make of him Aaron has gained a vast amount of knowledge of Void activities in the area and has enough information to connect the Algoquian legends of the wendigo to being mutated Void-touched humans. To this day its not clear why he is gathering this information but the only change in the day to day for Aaron is his unseasonal "hunting trips" to the strangest locations known.

For those unfortunate to know Aaron know he is ruthless cunning individual who will stop at nothing to achieve his goals. His one and one true beliefe is that he is hunting something within the Void that only he seems to know about which gives him a preadator mentality in his day to day life.

Aaron is a Mystic whos particular Beasthood ability provide unique abilities. Aaron has the ability to change his form into a Void creature. While he does have the ability to completely change his form, his standard change is both forearms. While taping into the Void he becomes faster, stronger, and gains more bestial senses. The more he changes his form the more attention he draws from other denizens of the Void
